Let’s get one thing straight: I love K-pop. But also, I hate K-pop. It’s the toxic relationship I can’t quit, the emotional rollercoaster I paid for in blood, sweat, and overpriced merch. Let’s dive into the chaos, shall we? First, let’s talk about the audacity of line distribution. Why does my bias get two lines and a sneeze while another member gets the entire chorus, bridge, and ad-libs? I’m not saying I could stage a revolution over this, but if SM doesn’t start respecting their main rappers, I just might. Then there’s the ungodly comeback hours. Why is it that K-pop companies think 2 AM is the perfect time to drop a music video? I’ve got work, school, and a perfectly good sleep schedule to ruin for these people! And yet here I am, setting alarms and watching a premiere with my eyes barely open, acting like this is normal. Award show rigging is another level of disrespect. Who decided that my emotional stability should hinge on a random trophy handed out by committees who don’t even know what autotune is? And the fan voting? It’s basically unpaid labor. Meanwhile, my group’s out there doing legendary performances for participation ribbons. Speaking of disrespect, let’s address unrealistic beauty standards. I know idols are supposed to look otherworldly, but do they have to remind me daily that my mortal face will never compare? My skin isn’t glass; it’s frosted bathroom windows, and that’s fine. But can we normalize idols looking human once in a while? Don’t even get me started on overpriced merch madness. I’m expected to spend $50 on a single album, only to pull the one member I don’t collect and cry about it? The merch economy is predatory, and I’m tired of trading photocards like a stockbroker just to complete my Jungkook shrine. And oh, the scandals that aren’t scandals. “Oh no, an idol breathed the same air as someone of the opposite sex!” Suddenly, it’s the apocalypse. Chill out, everyone. They’re human beings, not robotic celibate unicorns. Also, can we collectively stop acting like idols owe us their entire lives? Let’s not forget the secondhand embarrassment. Every time I see a K-pop fan yelling “STAN LOONA” at completely irrelevant events, I cringe so hard I almost dislocate my soul. We’re all guilty of over-stanning, but let’s keep it classy. Or at least… less chaotic. Finally, there’s the eternal suffering of a multistan. Why does every group decide to drop their comebacks within the same week? My wallet is empty, my playlists are overflowing, and my brain is out of space to store all the new lore, names, and fan chants. Y’all, I’m suffering out here. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I absolutely love it when male and female idols interact naturally on stage or at events. Like just seeing two beautiful, talented people having a normal conversation or sharing a moment is honestly so refreshing and kind of breathtaking to watch? It just feels so genuine and wholesome. For example, whenever I see Yeji and Hyunjin interact, I can’t help but smile. They both look amazing and they vibe so well visually. THIS is the kind of shipping energy that makes sense appreciating two cool people vibing together not the forced, over-the-top fake narrative stuff. But it’s kinda sad how some fandoms would rather just ship idols only with their own group members instead. Like I get the whole "they’re like siblings" thing, but fans take it so far that the idols can’t even look at someone outside their group without fans either freaking out or getting defensive. Sometimes a sweet interaction is just that a sweet interaction. I wish we could normalize cross-group friendships and interactions again, without everyone immediately thinking it’s scandalous or forcing them into some huge fake storyline. Let idols be humans. I thought BND's If I Say I Love You was so close to this, but Myungjae's rap does contain a few English words and obviously the chorus. Some of the SVT solos like Woozi and Jeonghan's contain no English (or any other language) words, but that's all I can really think of. I think ballads are more likely to be in full Korean than other group songs? Maybe because they're usually for the GP; not entirely sure though. Why the fuck won't they allow discussions without deleting or locking the post within literally 30 minutes of posting?? also the mods over here are rude af and act like the sun shines out of their ass because they are supposedly "better" than the uncensored sub. Apart from the obvious ones that already had, are having or will have a stadium tour (BTS, Twice, Stray Kids, Blackpink) which other groups do you guys think are at that level or will be at that level in a few years time? And not just a few stadium stops but a world tour with majority being stadiums, doesn’t have to be all. For me, I could see Seventeen pulling off a stadium tour since they’ve already done a few but maybe not now since their enlistment era is beginning. i fell in love with the members through the group so when the group is not active anymore and the members are doing solo activities, it is understandable why i would focus on other things more. i know this happens to other fandoms too especially for 3rd gen groups who mostly are on hiatus but since my feeds are mainly made up of armys, im talking specifically about bts. a lot of armys are kinda making a big deal out of ex armys getting into bts back after the years of hiatus, saying they are not loyal or something for leaving bts and armys dealing with haters during their solo eras. like im sorry? i was only ever active during jungkook’s solo because his songs were right up my alley but since other members just didn’t resonate with me, i continued not really paying attention. but now that bts is reuniting, ofc i wanna be in the fandom again. who are you to dictate whether someone is in the fandom or not, i didnt realize we have appointed a bunch of leaders. im writing this to tell everyone who left bts when they were on hiatus, you SHOULD NOT listen to these armys saying you are any less of a fan or like betrayal or sumn for not being active before. u do u submitted by /u/ataraxia2406 [link] [comments]
