74. Aespa Rich man isn't bad at all, people just have sky high expectations.

  • reddit.com language

As we all know, they had a legendary run from Drama to Whiplash, and not every song will hit the same way. DIrty work and rich man are only criticized so much cause they're not up the the standards of the run. They're still good songs for other group's standards, and wouldn't get the same hate if they were from those said groups. I understand people love Whiplash for example, but not every song will be like Whiplash and people should accept that. It's normal for a group to change their sound and experiment. submitted by /u/Lost-Investigator266 [link] [comments]

77. YG & Sam Taylor-Johnson are two peas in a pod

  • 13 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

TW: Mentions of grooming Sam Taylor-Johnson is the much older wife of Aaron Taylor-Johnson. When they first met, he was around 17 she was 42 with kids from another relationship. While there are unfortunately some weirdos out there who've tried to make bizarre excuses for this age gap, many were understandably uncomfortable & disgusted when the news of Sam & Aaron's relationship first came out. Many argued that if Sam were a man & Aaron were a woman, the amount of outrage would've been way louder & I couldn't agree more. Predatory behaviour isn't gendered. A predator's a predator regardless of what you are. Point blank period. YG knew his current wife, Lee Eun Ju of Swi.T, since she was just 12-13. By 16, she debut in the group Swi.T, but one of the reasons why the group broke up to begin with was not only due to mismanagement, but also YG was developing feelings for her & grooming Eun Ju into being in a relationship with him. Again, this grown man knew Eun Ju when she was a preteen & somehow, her "parents" didn't sound the alarms on this. Honestly, I find it so wrong to call Eun Ju's parents "parents" because if I found out my child was being preyed on like that by their CEO, I'd be seeing red. In both cases, Sam & YG altered their partners' careers for the worse & they have kids. Both Aaron & Eun Ju now have the deal with the fact that their work is often overshadowed by the fact that they were preyed upon. Their children will have to grow with this fact & will have to deal with endless amounts of torment from bullies because of things their parents did. Both situations are depressing AF & especially disturbing when it comes to YG because most people seem to have forgotten the fact that he did this. submitted by /u/GenoveveSimmons15 [link] [comments]

79. Being a K-pop fan in most parts of the world feels pretty distant

  • 13 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For most people around the globe, K-pop just isn’t accessible. There are no festivals, concerts, fan signs, or even good local merch. I really noticed this when talking to a friend from Korea, seeing K-pop acts for him is just another Thursday. It's very accessible. But for me? I have to start calculating travel costs, accommodations, and everything else… until I eventually just give up, lol. submitted by /u/Striking-Meal-5257 [link] [comments]

81. My take on aespa and the rich man mini album

  • 14 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Aespa had am insane run going from drama to supernova to armageddon to whiplash. It will be hard to top that and for a while it'll feel like anything they release falls flat in comparison for some people. But the thing is that they can't keep releasing supernovas forever. Yes,dirty work and rich man stray away from their typical hyperpop futuristic concept but they want to experiment and they've more than earned it. They're at a stable point in their career with a huge fandom and great success. Plus,it's natural progression for an artist to feel the need to experiment with their sound. While I prefer their 2024 run too,I recognize that they want to try new things. As for the rich man mini itself, the tt is on the more underwhelming side, especially for aespa's standards but the mini has some standout bsides, mainly count on me and to a lesser extent angel #48. Surprising to me cause I usually prefer their tts to their bsides. It's not a bad album by any means. Compared to their last two minis,I'd rank it as Whiplash>Rich man>Drama. I love drama as a tt,it's my fave of aespa's but I hated the bsides. Rich man has a more underwhelming tt but far better bsides and more cohesion as a mini. As for Whiplash,I think it's on par with savage. Overall,I'd rate the new mini a 6.5 out of ten. I think it's a decent enough body of work and I see myself listening to some bsides submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]

84. I actually enjoyed Rich Man by Aespa - one of my favourite releases this year

  • 14 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So I finally had a chance to catch up on new releases and gave aespa’s Rich Man a listen. Honestly, I went in with super low expectations because I’d already seen so much negativity around it… but surprise, surprise...I actually ended up liking it. The chorus is ridiculously catchy and the MV is straight-up VISUALS. Probably my fave drop in recent months! It’s definitely more minimalist compared to aespa’s usual style so I understand the divisiveness, but it still carries that sass and unique flavour that makes their music stand out to me. That said, it’s not quite up there with my top aespa releases from last year, but I definitely prefer it over Dirty Work. Anyone else go in expecting not to like it but ended up enjoying it way more than you thought? Or have had similar experiences for other recent releases? submitted by /u/sassyhwa [link] [comments]

85. I sometimes don't understand these kind of netzens.

  • 14 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Do you hate the idol if they do collab with controversial artist? Will making music with them make the idol bad person? It's just a collab right! if the idol hasn't done anything problematic yet why would you through a hate train on them, just don't listen Or watch it ,like I listen to Chris Brown songs but does that make me a bad person though? I just simply enjoy his songs. Another rant, Why netzens call out any celebrities when they found out that they watch adult contents?, and calling them creep, you guys feel sad when an actor says he can't date or finding it hard to be in a relationship, they says I don't care whoever they sleep with I'll fully support them but as soon as they find out they watch explicit content they'll instantly call them pervert or a creep, weirdo etc. Recently a popular actor is facing these controversy, saying " Why are they defending this creep? "Girls supporting another K didi" While there's no proof of him harrashing women or minors, but accusing him being pdf, misogyny just because he is following some controversial artist, he's just enjoying his adult lifestyle. I mean actors are human too they're not perfect I see them as human, I feel like those who are throwing shades on him doesn't see him as human rather than a saint. They want to be seen perfect human beings. submitted by /u/GuideOk7067 [link] [comments]

86. Very surprised by Chaeyoung's (Twice) musical direction

  • 15 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I think every Twice solo project so far has been the sound you would expect from each member. The songs have been pretty standard stuff so when Chaeyoung's solo was first announced I let out a "meh" and moved on. As a casual Twice enjoyer, I didn't think her solo would be any different. So consider my absolute shock (and delight) when I clicked on Avocado and the highlight medley. Who would have thought that she would have the most interesting musical direction in the group?? And I don't mean that in an offensive way. As a casual listener, Chaeyoung never stood out to me like some other members and she is kinda the "rapper" of the group who didn't rap much. Other members' solo projects were good too (Nayeon's albums have remained my favorite up till now) but like I said before those were very standard manufactured JYP-type songs. Those were the songs that Twice could sing as a group and you wouldn't know any better. With Chaeyoung's music, I don't see a company or group identity but rather HER identity which is what a solo project must do. She has, if I am not wrong, credits on every single song which explains why the project feels so much more personal. While I can draw similarities to many non-kpop artists, her sound doesn't resemble any mainstream kpop that I know of. I mean you can say it's kinda like Yves but that would be more in the sense of aesthetic than sound. Anyways, very excited for the upcoming album!!! submitted by /u/VengeanceAI [link] [comments]

88. I think stans need to recognize when they're fans of artists versus fans of a specific album

  • 15 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Listen, there's absolutely nothing wrong with evaluating and criticizing your favorite artists (it's a good thing actually) and there's nothing wrong with being disappointed in the general trajectory of their music if you're not enjoying it, that's all fine, and it's okay to voice out that opinion. But if every single album you're clamoring for artists to return to a specific album sound, it gets ridiculous after a certain point. As someone who has stanned both BTS and aespa, it's such a tired discussion. Every comeback people come out to complain that "this album doesn't sound HYYH or Wings, it's disappointing" and "this album doesn't sound like the Savage EP, it's disappointing". I understand the English trilogy, Dirty Work, and Rich Man are all divisive, but there's definitely a difference between wishing BTS to sound more hip hop / aespa to sound more hyper pop versus just wishing them to repeat an album from their rookie years. You for sure don't have to enjoy everything your favs put out, but if you haven't enjoyed anything since and want all releases to sound like those, are you really a fan of the group or just those albums? Especially since those groups still explore their earlier sounds (ex. RUN BTS and aespa's Dark Arts) I hear these same discussions with Itzy and Ive as well. People want IVE to return to I AM and Itzy to return to Wannabe (even though Itzy is lowkey the most consistent 4th gen gg sonically). At some point you have to recognize the artist isn't for you anymore. Like it's been years... move on submitted by /u/Q-TipBrain [link] [comments]
