906. What do you think of Katseye's success as a group?

Idk if it is the right place to post about katseye...since they are not a kpop group...but a global group backed by a korean company...but they are quite famous within the kpop community, hence I am posting about them in this sub. 2025 was relatively a boring year for pop especially if we compare it to 2024...last year Charli Xcx,Chappell Roan,Sabrina Carpenter dominated the pop scene with their albums and their songs.Good luck babe, plz plz plz, Espresso were everywhere ... Charli's Brat summer was a phenemenon...but 2025 was quite dull, with famous artists receiving mixed reviews for their album, but within the dull pop landscape we have artist like Katseye, Conan grey, Sombr, Olivia dean, Addison Rae who made some noises...ik their success can't be compared to the breakthrough Sabrina,Charli or Chappell had last year...but they managed to stir up some discussing within the pop landscape.. I made a post the other day asking about new jeans popularity especially in the western market, and I came across a comment where someone wrote...that if there is a group that benefited from New jeans fumble its Katseye... Idk but I have often seen this type of comment in yt , twitter and other places that Katseye benefited a lot from the New Jeabs issue...is it true? Because I thought Katseye's success was maiy tied to a lack of a solid banger from any famous artist this year nor any newer artist shook the pop landscape in 2025, therefore Katseye managed to grab people's attention with their gimmicky song Gnarly, strong Gabriela choreo at lolla and the viral GAP ad.... Do you think katseye would be successful regardless of new jeans situation or the issue really benefited them in a positive way? submitted by /u/Due_Collection_3363 [link] [comments]

914. My complex reaction on Lara's lengha, and then my thoughts on Indian representation.

I’m writing this post because I’ve always had thoughts about Lara, but this lehenga really brought up a lot of emotions. I don’t have any Eyekons friends, so I’m writing it here. I remember watching the introductions and feeling genuinely excited to see two Indian girls in a girls’ academy — Ezrela and Lara. My pick back then was Ezrela, although I knew Lara would be chosen. My god, her vocals are heavenly. But I also remember being surprised by her OM locket. To give some context — an OM locket is like a cross in Christianity, but not many young people wear it (I personally don’t know anyone who does). It’s usually worn by very religious people. I was amazed to see her wearing it at that moment. As time went on, she started representing other elements of Hindu culture as well. When I saw her prom date look in Dreams Academy — with all the jewelry laid out on the bed — I thought she was going to wear something traditional (Indian). But instead, she wore some Indian jewelry with a black slip dress. It felt a bit strange to me, but I thought, “It’s her choice.” Another instance was when she wore the OM locket with a bikini. That’s when I realized — this girl is so American in her ways. No Indian would do that. You could say it’s false modesty, and yes, people can practice their religion however they wish. But the way I was raised, it’s just unthinkable. And now, when I saw her in a lehenga, my first thought was, “My god, this looks so tacky.” The color combination, the styling, and especially the zip showing on the side — it all felt off. The most jarring part for me was really the color combination. I know her style is meant to be edgy, but this made me wonder: “Is this really how I want to be represented?” Sometimes it feels like she represents how Americans think India is, not what India actually is. That’s it — I just had these complex emotions I wanted to put into words. P.S. I don’t want her to change at all; I’m just evaluating my feelings toward her. https://preview.redd.it/lhz5ms45lvwf1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=249f952f2593cb575d794513d9abf7af67c0980b submitted by /u/Odd-Cook6936 [link] [comments]

920. I wish boy groups would tone down the Michael Jackson influenced stuff

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Such as the weird gasping and moaning adlibs that seem to be present in so many BG songs. Especially those weird short grunts or idk how to explain them over text. But like the type of purposefully stunted vocalisation noises Michael Jackson would do during his songs quite often. Fortunately these vocalisations are losing their popularity since Kpop is transitioning to more of an easy listening vibe for the current BGs. But these vocalisations are still over-represented with the many BGs who are still leaning more towards the noise music side of things. I also dislike the crotch grabbing dance moves that are so common in BG choreography. Yet another Michael Jackson iconic thing I feel has run its course in Kpop. BGs have been doing it for so long at this point... submitted by /u/fasdal [link] [comments]

921. First time I’ve seen plastic surgery scars from an idol

I just came across a TikTok and noticed that she seems to have a small scar on both eyelids, possibly from double eyelid surgery. This isn’t meant as criticism or shame toward anyone who chooses to have plastic surgery, it’s simply an observation that surprised me. It’s actually the first time I’ve ever noticed a visible scar from a possible procedure on an idol. I’ve followed aespa for a while and had never noticed it before, so I was also a bit surprised that it wasn’t edited or blurred out, considering how sensitive the topic of plastic surgery can be within K-pop culture. submitted by /u/Weekly_Office269 [link] [comments]
