To everyone hopping on this trend to hate on the celebrities for attending a "charity event" that wasn't really a charity event because it didn't spread awareness, please show me your donation receipts. Like I'm so serious, PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR DONATION RECEIPTS. Because if you people think just running your mouth off on the internet can do anything, then you people are the biggest joke of the 21st century. Do you think admonishing celebrities because they drank and danced at an event is going to suddenly solve world problem? Do you think if they didn't dance or drank at the event, that it would have solved world problem? It takes money for research, it takes money for food, it takes money to buy equipments, to provide for the homeless. It takes money to move the world. LET ME MAKE MY STANCE CLEAR BECAUSE I KNOW YOU PEOPLE READ LIKE A THIRD GRADER AND SKIP OVER IMPORTANT DETAILS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BOTHER TO READ: I AM NOT DEFENDING THE ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT BUT I AM DEFENDING THE ATTENDEES. Now, before anyone gives me the bullshit that I don't know them and they know what they are attending, they are old enough blah blah. Listen up, celebrities are not your outlet for voice. These are people with their own opinions and their own reasoning. Firstly, they are entertainers, their main role is TO ENTERTAIN. Whether through singing, dancing, acting whatever. But their job is entertainment. THEY ARE NOT POLITICIANS, ADVOCATES NOR ACTIVISTS. Not because they have a "huge platform" means they are automatically going to speak up on topics you people want them to. They are just doing a job. A job. They wanted to make money. Some saw it as a quick way to become rich others are doing it for the love of it. Stop making celebrities out as some God that will change the world. They are not your superheroes. The beauty about all of this is that you have free will. You have free will to spend your money or not. By all means, you were never spending your money on an artists for things they advocated/don't advocate for. You were spending it for the services they were initially giving you. Now, if you felt like that service should have included advocacy, by all means stop spending your money and don't be an idiot on the internet. Majority of you naysayers haven't/don't plan on actually making the change you want to see by making the effort WITH YOURSELVES but look to celebrities for that change while you tap away and hide behind your keyboard. How ridiculous. + It's also why I find people that have celebrities as role models to be ridiculous. Like they are strangers, I don't care how much contents you have seen of them, they are literal strangers and you don't know what they actually are when the cameras turn off.
