441. I'm sorry but has Le Sserafim actually had spaghetti before?

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like look. I know this is a "serve the haters" song and I know they somewhat identify with the spaghetti here. But I stan Le Sserafim and I've had spaghetti, and these two experiences are nothing alike. At this point really the only thing they have in common is Chaewon's concept hair color. In fact I considered actually seeing Le Sserafim the fun thing I did, instead of having leftover spaghetti for like the 4th night in a row. No hate, all that good stuff, I just think we need to be clear as a kpop community on what spaghetti is. Of note is how many lines in the song are just totally not getting anything right about spaghetti. It would be like writing "I'm spicy like gazpacho, don't get burned." You go through the lyrics and ALL OF THE LYRICS ARE LIKE THAT This is a hot spot Your favorite dish like a hot pot Spaghetti is nothing like a hot pot. Also why would your favorite dish be "like" a hot pot? Hot pot is already a dish. Just stan hot pots. Great now that's two unrelated foods I'm craving. Dear Le Sserafim songwriters including Yunjin who you'd think grew up on spaghetti: I cannot have both of these cravings in one meal. I can't even have both of them at the same restaurant. Hell I'm not even sure I can have both of them in the same god damn city. There are diners and there are fancy spaghetti places that charge $27 for the same thing the diner does, and neither serve hot pot. You taste it once and fall in love It's such a staple food that nobody has any idea the first time they had spaghetti. And nobody's really fallen in love with spaghetti. We fall in love with not starving after we just moved out of our parent's home at 18 or 22 or cough whenever that was and that's where spaghetti comes in. You don't need to think too much Correct Oh, just savor all the flavor dancing on your tongue Okay this one is borderline. Like I've tried making my fancy spaghetti sauce before -- garlic, basil, mushroom, olive, all that good stuff. Look we all do it once after moving out, eating a bunch of spaghetti, and wanting the spaghetti to taste better but not really being ready to make something besides spaghetti. It comes out SLIGHTLY better than a jar of tomato sauce. But you made it and that makes it special. (True enough.) But it's 45 minutes of effort and not even cheaper. You could make a nice stir fry, and those you can't really buy out of a jar. All this is to say there's not a lot of flavor going on besides "tomato." Now my name is melting in your mouth Okay now's where they're starting to sound like somebody pretending to have had spaghetti before, going off one time they watched someone eat spaghetti. Spaghetti just does not melt in your mouth -- that's chocolate, ice cream obviously, maybe certain fancy cuts of meat. I serve looks like spaghetti Like Chaewon's hair color sure, but outside of this song you couldn't really say "my girlfriend is really hot, she looks just like spaghetti" and get anywhere with that. Bad dish in between your teeth Okay, I admit, some Mandela effect here for all you Mandela effect nerds: I thought this was "stuck between" your teeth. But spaghetti is still kind of thick. It doesn't fit between your teeth. Several lines about diet, guilty pleasure, calories -- Like yes spaghetti is a carby food but it really is one of the most basic foods you can think of. Guilty pleasure is like. Too much ice cream. Not "I don't know what I'm having dinner for today, I guess spaghetti for the 4th night in a row." This contributes to my overall sense that they were introduced to spaghetti for the purpose of this concept, looked up some facts about spaghetti, and it nutritionally matched what they would consider a guilty pleasure food, and now the lyrics are here. submitted by /u/abyssazaur [link] [comments]

442. The immaturity of kpop fandom is killing the vibe with kpop for me

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I know its completely ignorable but the immaturity of fans online is killing the vibe for me. I don't even want to engage on social media at all, even though I make art and animations of group mascots I just post and dip and don't engage beyond that because I feel like the way people behave in the kpop fandom space is insane. I am kind of exhausted of stans on social media act like these idol groups are gonna go broke, underrated, and like we're failing them if we're not voting for them, and always streaming their music. The guilt tripping I see is insane. I don't want to speak for them like these people are but I doubt these idols care that much if they lose a contest because their fans "weren't dedicated enough" to vote for them. No, I don't care that they might be "disappointed in their fans" if their group didn't win (which again, I doubt they would be). Kpop is the idols' job, not my job. I already work a full time job and would rather spend my free time doing my hobbies. And on their personal lives... I'm sorry, but I feel like some people are just super overreactive about every little tidbit of an idol's life. Please... don't give yourself any extra stress worrying about them more than yourself. What prompted me posting this is Bang Chan sharing that he has sleep apnea and people are terrified that he's going to drop dead in his sleep. I have sleep apnea. Yes it is freaky when it happens. But when I stop breathing I jolt awake. Maybe I'm just an unc who is too used to their myriad of health concerns but I fail to see why we need to be dramatic about what they share about their health and lifestyle. They have access to great healthcare services, they'll be fine, but why are we spreading hysteria and panic? And I could also talk about how people call idols in their late 20s old, especially when it comes to dating rumours. I'm talking about people saying "He's pushing 30, I sure hope he has a girlfriend!" I think this is thanks to the epidemic of teenagers acting like your life is over when you hit 25. I am the same age if not older than the members of all the groups, so its kind of jarring to me to see these comments. Are these people going to keep that same energy if they ever find themselves "pushing 30" and single? Do they view people who are single and in their late 20s as failures? It's sad. I want to believe that these are just teenagers with too much time on their hands, because that's the maturity level I'm getting from this energy, so I don't take it personally. But please tell me if I'm being too apathetic or grouchy. Being new to kpop, and having missed out on the boy band wave when I was a teenager, this is all new and weird to me. Going to my first kpop concert, I had a blast meeting new people and that really was such a highlight of the experience and made me want to continue being a kpop fan. But a lot of the fandom is too much for me, which is sad when I still want to connect with people with a shared interest. submitted by /u/Femmeininomenon [link] [comments]

443. Have y'all ever tried just.. NOT giving a flying eff about toxic stans online?

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm a hag, but I was once a teenager, believe it or not. There are so many posts of what I can only assume to be younger fans who complain about toxic fandoms. If you put yourself in toxic places, you will see toxic people. Guys, your faves are (mostly) touring and doing well. I don't care what kids are saying on the internet about my groups, I listen to their music and I go to concerts where no one is being toxic, we're all fans, and I have a great time. You've got to stop thinking a toxic vocal minority are actually affecting your groups' success. Example: Katseye ain't going anywhere lol, nosebleed seats at the LA show in a month or two are reselling for $800.. the demand is there. I don't expect the people I'm speaking to here to get it, but I'm sure many other people here have the same sentiment. Thank you for coming to my TED-POP talk. submitted by /u/abbyzou [link] [comments]

444. Future HYBE Global Boy Project — Any Info or Tips?

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm a guy from Latin America who dreams of joining a future global project under HYBE. I've been researching the previous HYBE x Geffen collaboration that gave rise to Katseye, and I read that it was originally going to be a male project, but it changed to a female group due to market preferences and the difficulty of finding male trainees who fit the K-pop style. I've also seen someone mention that another male project could emerge in the coming years, perhaps between 2026 and 2028, depending on Katseye's success. That got me curious: has anyone heard anything new about this? Or maybe seen guys preparing for something like this? I'd also love to know what the process was like for the Dream Academy contestants (like Celeste, who mentioned her 3-month process). Were they all similar, or did it vary by person? Any information, experiences, or advice for someone like me would be extremely helpful. 🙏 Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Odd_Childhood6681 [link] [comments]

450. Kpop Songs With Activist Themes Directly or Subtly?

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

THIS IS IN NO WAY ME TRYING TO POIST IDOLS AS PEOPLE THAT ARE ACTIVISTS OR PUTTING WORDS IN THEIR MOUTHS, but artist create art that is meant to be dissected. Recently I’ve been seeing clips of Seventeen performing their song SOS in America during their tour and I’ve also watched videos where people that attended talked about it being a very intense and empowering moment especially with the current political climate. Some of the lyrics: “Day to day to day, it's like we're an infinite roulette Spin it, spin it, spin it, now, who's the next target?” “Everyday we're fightin' A silent war we never wanted Come on right now, people keep on dyin' When the world is killing you, yeah” Again I’m not saying that they are making a direct statement, but you can’t deny the lyrics like these, especially speak to a time of pointing out blatant things that are wrong with the world. Would you all agree? I was just wondering if there are any other K-pop songs that talk about just the world climate or just have a hint of activism. And if you have any, would like to share the meeting behind those lyrics or what you think it’s trying to convey. submitted by /u/Human-Ad8991 [link] [comments]

451. Name your favorite Album, and I’ll say how many songs I like from it!

Hi all 💖 hope everyone is having a good day! I’m waiting for a few hours for a loved one’s surgery to take place so wanted to do this to distract myself. I’ll technically be naming how many songs from an album I’ve saved to my playlists, but it’s essentially the same as how many I like, haha. Thank you much for anyone who answers! 💞 submitted by /u/HommeFatalTaemin [link] [comments]

452. OnlyOneOf is so underrated it’s criminal

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I just need to talk to someone about OnlyOneOf.. they’re one of my favorite groups but I don’t see a lot of people talking about them. First off, every single song in their discography is amazing. No skips. I would describe their sound as chill, ethereal, sensual, and atmospheric. They do have some “hype” songs, but the majority have a very laid-back vibe. Most of the vocals have a very breathy quality, and the instrumentals themselves are usually very melodic and atmospheric. Their choreography and visuals are always on point as well. Some of my favorite songs I’d recommend are: byredO, gaslighting, dOra maar, cOy, suit dance, and blueblueseOul. They also have a pretty sexy song called libidO that I think was fairly viral when it came out. Anyway I just wanted to spread the word because I’m literally obsessed with them and I seriously don’t understand why they’re so slept on. submitted by /u/nesoniiim [link] [comments]

453. Katseye fans are becoming one of most toxic

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I used to really enjoy their music, but lately, some of their fans have become quite unbearable. They conveniently take their faves in and out of the K-pop category whenever it suits their argument it feels very hypocritical. Now they’re trying to set this narrative that their group is somehow bigger than BLACKPINK? Let’s be realistic BLACKPINK is one of the most successful girl groups of all time, officially recognized by multiple major awards. If you constantly have to compare your faves to BLACKPINK just to prove their worth, that already says a lot. And about this recent LE SSERAFIM situation come on. LE SSERAFIM is a seasoned, experienced group whose music has followed this style for years; they didn’t copy anyone. These “eyekons” are actually doing more harm than good by putting their idols on an unrealistic pedestal and trying to pit them against others. Please, stop doing that. It’s unfair to both groups. And lastly they are not even at the label of lesserafiam and new jeans right now forget about biggest gg. submitted by /u/EarthBubbly392 [link] [comments]
