Ok y’all let’s play a game. Pick your bias and describe them in the most incorrect, delusional, absolutely WRONG way possible. Lies only. No facts allowed. If it sounds accurate, you're doing it wrong. I’ll go first: The one who’ll trip you, then ask why you fell, dad of 3 cats 🧘🏻♀️🤺💗🐈 Your turn. submitted by /u/psychedelic_8591 [link] [comments]
I watched Kpop Demon Hunters yesterday and I couldn't help but draw parallels to the actual kpop industry. Here are some of my observations which really stood out to me while watching the movie. Gwima — to me, gwima, the demon lord, was a representation of the toxic ideals of the kpop industry. The way gwima uses humans' worst weaknesses to lure them into his world and blackmail them into submission. It reminded me of how idols are forced by the industry culture to censor their real selves just to look "perfect" to their fans. Who knows what type of vices this industry uses — toxic body ideals, mistreatment at workplace, foresaking their social life just to look perfect. And if they do not do it their way, the industry makes sure to punish them for it. Huntrix — to me they represent the idols as their true selves. "For the fans, for honmoon". Idols just want to be a voice power for their fans, they perform because they love to and they want to make a difference in their world. I could see idols relating to Huntrix when they talk about working hard to make music which brings everyone together. They are close friends too, just like some of our kpop faves! Huntrix trainer — she stood out to me to be the equivalent of kpop companies. She told Rumi to hide her weakness, the demon stripes, to find success. She thought she was doing the right thing when she was actually telling Rumi to be disingenuous. This very much stood out to me like when kpop companies push these ideals on their idols to make them look as polished as possible because they think it's doing them a favor, when its just replacing the rawness of an artist and the truth of that artist with fake personas. Saja boys — saja boys represented the parasocialism in kpop to me. Their song "Your idol" where they talk about giving them our desire and they can be the "star we rely on". That is exactly how some fans consume kpop, obsessively. "Anytime it hurts, play another verse, I can be your sanctuary". Ngl this song actually haunted me. It just put the worst of the worst in the kpop industry right there, naked and bare, in front of us. The way their fans got hypnotized by the social media content and got sucked into this demon vortex, it was chilling to see something that we keep joking about in fandom spaces, "touch some grass", when it was shown like that. Honestly, it just made me feel a little sad for some of these parasocial fans who rely on their kpop bands to sustain their lives, it really just flipped a switch in me. And I've been thinking about this song since yesterday. Jinu — bro was depressed af. I saw him as an idol struggling to free themselves from the toxicity of this infustry. We've seen it with our faves, all of us. There comes a time in every band's trajectory when they're just tired. We've seen it with BTS, with twice, so many idols who take hiatus for mental health concerns. I saw him as one such idol. Of course, Jinu is a grey character. He did some vile things in the past but I'm just taking the creative liberty to portray him as someone who makes a mistake and just cannot escape it for the rest of his life. I wonder if any kpop idols feel like they made a mistake choosing their profession and going down and down into the rabbit hole of this industry. Anyways, this has been long haha. I'd love to know what you guys thought about this movie. It's got some amazing songs and a great story (btw, Ahn Hyo Seop speaks English this good??) but the kpop parallels definitely made it much for meaningful for me! I'am a die hard nctezen but honestly this was a hot ahh mess, sure it has some good parts but it doesn't feel finished to me, it was lacking in a lot of ways especially the chorus. Maybe i'am to hard on it or maybe my expectations were just to high. I know this was just the first title track from the new album, but i hope the next one will be better. submitted by /u/Injeolmie_04 [link] [comments]

Hi K-poppers! I’m Malou, a K-pop fan, and I’m doing my MA dissertation on how K-pop agencies handle scandals and manage idols’ public image, basically, how they do damage control when controversies happen. As part of my research, I’ve created a short survey to hear from K-pop fans about what you’ve seen, how you felt about it, and how it shaped your view of the idols or agencies involved. If you’ve ever followed a K-pop controversy or just have thoughts on how agencies deal with these situations, I’d love to hear from you. Here’s the link: https://forms.office.com/e/dZ7ARSpq8c Thanks so much for your time and support 💜 submitted by /u/Few-Ad2999 [link] [comments]

When stans attack anyone who criticizes their favorite celebrities, is it really a surprise that those people decide to confine their criticism to spaces that won’t report them, attack them and try to get them banned just for not liking a certain celeb? I like being able to criticize out of touch millionaires who are overly praised to the heavens by die hard stans. Sue me 😂😂 clearly I’m not the only one who feels that way, and the more the fan spaces push back against anything that could be remotely perceived as negative, the more it makes people want to use snark subs. submitted by /u/etoilez [link] [comments]
Honestly, silver hair has to be one of the hardest colors to pull off, in my opinion. But a few idols have absolutely nailed it. Here are my pics. Who's your favourite? submitted by /u/KpopDivas [link] [comments]
They had already performed it at the concert and I liked the song, but the MV made me like the song more. That arena reminded me so much of Red Velvet's Cosmic. The enclosed space where they dance also reminded me of Cosmic. I loved everything! submitted by /u/Separate-Comedian-25 [link] [comments]
