8. We need to talk about Ahyeons vocals...

I have listened to Babymonster since their debut, I wouldn't call myself a Monzties since I don't follow them closely enough, but I do enjoy their music a lot. It's no secret that their debut was controversial and I had some difficulty with their debut at first, but the more I listened to Batter Up the more I came to appreciate their sound. However when the song was released with OT7 I of course listened to it because I was very excited to hear Ahyeon since she was absent from their original debut. And her return was obviously highly anticipated. But when her parts came, especially during the "What big mistake" and "Batter, batter, batter up" I found her voice to be very overpowering in a bad way. I thought it sounded quite shouty and it wasn't enjoyable at all. Don't get me wrong, she has a good vocal register, and she can switch between her lower and higher registry pretty well and I do enjoy her parts in most songs but her voice has a tendency to take over a lot of songs. Now, I know that it isn't one of their songs, but I found the cover of Miley Cyrus "Flowers" to be very annoying, the other members sounded really good, but she definitely needs to realise that higher doesn't always equal better vocals as I also worry about her voice later in her career as an idol as her voice is her instrument. submitted by /u/leles_skoldator_lol [link] [comments]

13. What kind of concept/sound a boygroup would do that'll make them have a balanced or male-dominated fandom ?

What would it take for a K-pop boy group to have a male-dominated fandom? Just one of those random thoughts that hit when I’ve got nothing else to do but it made me curious. K-pop boy group fandoms are completely female-dominated generally 80-90-95% And I started wondering if it’s possible for a boygroup to end up with mostly male fans. At first when I discovered them, I thought Stray Kids could’ve been that kind of group — their sound is aggressive, self-produced, some amazing loud sonorities and led by BangChan and personnaly give me a more band-like overall image than a typical Kpop group but still, the fandom ended up almost exclusivly female. BIGBANG probably came the closest with their cool guys and not necessairelly dateable image. Then there’s recently Cortis, whose sound and concept feel really “By teenage boys for teenage boys”. But even early on, their main audience seems to be largely female fans. And I can think of G-Dragon or Agust D/Suga both have plenty of male listeners but can it be the case with a group ? And Agust lean more into K-rap than kpop so that makes a difference. So it made me wonder: What would a male-dominated boygroup fandom even look like? Would the music need to lean more into rock sonorities ? But then There is Straykids. Would a concept focused on relatability instead of romance work ? But again Cortis seems to be leaning on that. Maybe less fanservice ? Probably the closest possibility I can think of but that'll attract less female fans not more male ones. Or maybe it’s just not possible ? Just me overthinking again, but what do you guys think? Could it happen and if yes, what kind of sound and concept would pull it off ? submitted by /u/Gullible_Gear_5543 [link] [comments]

15. What do you think is the weirdest K-pop group name?

I think it’s Kep1er. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to just use a scientist’s name as a group name? I’d really like to examine the brain structure of the person who came up with that. submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Clue1758 [link] [comments]

16. What are your thoughts when Yoonchae is getting culture shock almost everytime when she's with Katseye?

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

We all know Yoonchae was supposed to be a K-pop idol, meaning, she would be following strict guidelines provided by her supposed Korean Ent. company but she was fortunate to debut in a global girl group like Katseye to have more freedom and able to express herself like the majority of the members CAN safely talk about controversial stuff like politics, gender, serious life advice, etc. which is a prohibited thing for K-pop idols. I'm not going to enumerate how many times Yoonchae got culture shocked BUT one thing I can't forget is how she witnessed Lara signing her autograph on someone's B00Bs lol (but idk if Yoonchae did hers too on the same person's B00BS), something that K-pop idols are not allowed and open to do so. I just wish K-pop idols were open as Katseye because I can also feel it's already suffocating how to look and act perfectly or to maintain a "perfect" image in Korea submitted by /u/Alarmed_Pepper9665 [link] [comments]

24. the screeching screams of the person next to me at a concert pissed me off so much.

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i went to a concert last week and the person next to me was screaming way too loud throughout the concert. maybe it's your first time seeing them and that might explain why you were so loud. i was loud too, but their screeching screams pissed me so much, and i could barely hear the members sing. when i watched my fancams after the concert, i can barely hear the members sing because of their screams. i looked for a way to remove the person's screams from my fancams or at least bring it down by a little but it didn't work much. i'm quite sure they ruined the fancams they took too... it's not wrong to scream at a concert, we're supposed to have fun, yes, but there's a limit. submitted by /u/withinyourheart [link] [comments]
