3. Old rumours/misconceptions about idols that are totally false but just won’t die out?

  • 41 minutes ago schedule

Rumours or “facts” about certain idols that have been debunked but somehow still get mentioned years later. I’m curious which ones you’ve seen that people continue to believe even though they’re not true. It could be that or immature fans spreading misinformation on purpose. submitted by /u/Any_Contribution8287 [link] [comments]

7. I do not understand how Apple Music Chart works

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Is anyone else confused about the Apple Music Global Chart? Like, what is Global? Is it not supposed to mean worldwide? So tell me why a song that is only charting in Japan is in the top 100 Global AM Music Chart, but songs that are charting in more than 20 countries are not? For example, the Girl group ROSE from Japan usually chart multiple songs on AM Global, but they only ever chart in Japan. Then you have groups like StrayKids, Katseye, etc charting in more than 20 countries, but getting no entry. Does that make sense? For anyone who doesn't know, Spotify combines all streams from the countries a song charts in, but Apple Music will give those countries points based on tier ranking. And unless you chart in tier one and tier two countries, there's no entry on the Global Chart. Is that even fair? So apparently, countries are divided into 4 tiers: Tier 1: United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany Tier 2: Australia, Canada, France, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Thailand Tier 3: Belgium, Brazil, Switzerland, China, Colombia, Spain, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Turkey, Taiwan, South Africa For you to chart in Global AM, u need to chart in at least one of these countries: the US, the UK, Japan, or Germany. And placed high, like the top 20 in 2 or top 50 in 3 out of 8 of these countries: Australia, Canada, France, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Thailand. Something like that. submitted by /u/Accomplished_Low2452 [link] [comments]

8. New idea on how to make a group in a new way with a big fanbase from the start

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I first thought what If we think about how idols go through training and stuff wouldn't it be cool if we saw the entire process from beginning to end. Then i thought what about livestreaming everything like a marathon like kai cenat is doing but i kind of thought that would be hard especially for young trainees. Then why not have streamers do it and train kpop style and so i looked up who can sing and already has a fanbase and there's enough to the point of pushing a group out. from what i see a lot of them are really good if they had actual training they can be a great singing group(probably no dancing) like fuslie, fanfan, QuarterJade, extraemily(for Rap), and maya. These are the ppl i see that would be good together that have talent and a big fanbase on top of being streamers where there job guarantees they have great and entertaining personality's. if they can go full kpop training, make music and livestream evey thing i feel that would make a group u feel attached to cause u can see the struggle without the media filter. Plus they already have fans so there no worries about them being a flop group. Is this a good idea? submitted by /u/Either_Lobster_9882 [link] [comments]

9. Longevity of female idols (after aespa's GMA)

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Aespa's GMA performance made me rethink again the topic of the longevity of female idols and kpop girl groups. I can't help but think that most of the female idols just stop gaf or their ego blow up once they reach the top level of popularity. Lately, clear examples of that are blackpink, newjeans, now also aespa. Blackpink's performances are very much lacking in every area. And it’s not like they lack talent — it’s just the zero effort on stage and the lack of prep beforehand. Despite sold-out arenas, unmatched (in gg reality) global popularity and support from their fans, they just really give minimal effort in concerts people pay a lot for. Newjeans engages in a losing battle just bcs they thought that their hiatus and mediaplay is gonna pressure hybe to sell ador (or at least give greater authority to mhj), they willingly go to national assembly or foreign media outlets to force their manipulative narrative, they even reach out to popular twt hater talytokki and meet with her. And their hongkong performance is also sth I wish to forget. The shift in attitude once they gained greater popularity is just unbelievable. And there is aespa. Despite their massive success in 2023 and 2024, they show disappointing lack of effort and preparation. The GMA stage was just the cherry on top of a very stale cake. They've been consistnently lipsyncing, showing lack of energy on stage and poor dance quality on many end of the year award shows, their concerts, music shows and random events like GMA. I've also seen their activity in the media, like karina clearly suggesting "I vote for 2" in her post, and it really feels like their attitude has changed. Despite the poor quality of their perfomance and bad attitude, they are still thriving. blackpink wins international awards, aespa sweeping daesangs and bonsangs left and right and nj keeps a big chunk of their fandom loyal. There is also an enshitification from their labels aspect, especially in the case of SM, but I won't delve into that. I didn't do a quantitive analysis comparing gg and bg from 3-4th gen to assess their shift in attitude after gaining popularity; I also don't follow boy groups scene that much, so correct me if I am wrong or I cherry-pick information, but seeing the level of engagement in artists like BTS, stray kids, enhypen (let's say these are equivalent in popularity to gg I mentioned) I really get the sense top men idols are built different. Part of it might be that boy groups are more often self-produced, so they’re genuinely connected to their music and passionate about performing. Or maybe the labels just expect and train male and female idols differently. I remember Karina once saying in an interview that women usually have shorter careers in K-pop. But looking at the top girl groups now, they’re only getting more popular even as they approach 30 (no offense if you’re 30 lol). And honestly, it’s happening even though their effort drops and their attitudes shift. So I don’t think it’s about fans abandoning female idols once they hit a certain age. It’s a small sample size, so it’s hard to draw real conclusions. But I still wonder: is this shift more about personality, physical burnout after years of idol life, or just the way companies manage female idols compared to male ones? submitted by /u/pitero2137 [link] [comments]
