Really audacious statement, but part of me genuinely thinks that Cortis was made to appeal to the teen boy experience in the same way that New Jeans did for the girls. I’ve seen lots of discussion that people have mixed opinions on their songs, especially with how abrasively auto-tuned it is, almost like Carti or Travis Scott. But that’s just precisely because kids, especially boys, like Carti and drain gang and w/e. Furthermore, their styling has been incredibly grounded, and makeup super minimal. Their music videos for Go and What you Want give like side questing with the boys filtered through the lenses of Tik tok, and “fashion” gives heavy moto, opium vibes, which is just every aspiring fashion guy online. All of these observations together make Cortis feel distinctly like a boy group via the ‘masculine’ lense with much less attempt at courting a female fan base besides the fact that these guys are 100% conventionally attractive. I think it’s interesting that they’ve seem to really take their male idols seriously as teen boys that want to be cool, aggressive, and flamboyantly boyish in their own way that doesn’t pander to creating more believable boyfriend material for Delulu fangirls. Hopefully Cortis might court a new audience of more teen boys in Korea and the west that might give them a new outlook on adolescence like what new Jeans undoubtedly did for the girlies. submitted by /u/kiittkaattt [link] [comments]

When do think bts become active as group? It's more than 4 months still there is no proper promotion as group They are doing solo it's fine But they are not feeling as global group.jusg see how blackpink getting back to back group promotion in series and all even though they are doing solo? Why bighit not promoting bts 🙄🙄 We want to see them as group as well..idk why people think doing group means restricting their so called indiviality.at the end music is music .and many people and antis forced that solo agenda on bts out of insecurity so that their real favourite group get more chance🙄 It's funny that some kpoppies force agenda when it's not work among gp. submitted by /u/BullfrogVisual2832 [link] [comments]
Hi mods and community 👋 I’m putting together a short, anonymous survey (5 minutes) for people in the U.S. who are learning Korean. It asks about motivations (like K-pop, K-dramas, heritage, or career), learning challenges, and study preferences. Before I share the link, I wanted to check: is it okay to post this kind of survey in r/kpoppers ? It’s strictly non-commercial and for research/insight purposes. Thanks so much for letting me know! 🙏 submitted by /u/Vegetable_Table_9831 [link] [comments]

What do you think Stays’ reaction would be if it came out that one of the Stray Kids members had a girlfriend? I’m curious to hear people’s thoughts on this. Stray Kids has such a huge fandom if a romantic relationship were leaked, would fans stop supporting them? submitted by /u/ExcellentTree8990 [link] [comments]

I've been trying to upload my pictures to flickr when I go to concerts but it seems pretty sparse for kpop concert photography with the majority of the photos from kcon or older concerts from pre 2020. I'm kinda sad to see that so many people upload to discord seeing that it's a walled garden from the rest of the internet. submitted by /u/Temporary_Potato_254 [link] [comments]
Ok, do y’all ever feel protective of your Ult group (/lh) and you’re like, “nobody better fucking touch this LEGENDARY song cuz there’s no way they can sing that high note or pull off that dance move the way so-and-so does it” … (i feel 2nd gen stans with all their iconic songs especially must know what i mean?) …And then you finally saw a cover or reinterpretation that made you go “damn. They really pulled it off. Respect.” Me with VIXX’s Shangri La - it’s probably my fav MV ever, and I’m (still) convinced no one can do it with as much etherealness and elegance as them. While I don’t think the performance lives up to the original (especially cuz it was clearly lip synced), The Boyz’s arrangement from Kingdom is absolutely gorgeous. They made it their own by remixing it with Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata while still respecting the original, and it really worked. Anyways, have y’all ever felt this way? I’m especially curious if there are any Taemin stans cuz there are like five million covers of Move and i’m wondering if in your opinion any of them live up to the original. submitted by /u/Lilac-Soul [link] [comments]

The only award they’ve gotten so far is Favorite Rising Artist - MAMA 2024. Their debut timing was tight to win anything, september is when most big award shows still count that month as part of the current year instead of the next year tracking period. But it was already kinda late since tracking usually ends around late Sept or Oct. On top of that, Meovv debuted with just a digital single. And they came out with just a digital single, the company must’ve been super confident thinking the debut would instantly pop off. I get that not winning Rookie of the Year isn’t the end, but every newly debuted group wants that award, since you probably only ever win it once in your career submitted by /u/Difficult_Bit_3025 [link] [comments]
I’ve been noticing some cultural differences in how we talk about solo stanning, and I wanted to share a term from Korean fandoms: “Akgae” (악개). The word comes from “악질 개인팬” which basically means “malicious individual fan.” It’s shortened into “Akgae.” Key point is the division: * A solo stan = someone who just really, really loves their bias more than the others. Still respects the group overall, doesn’t spread hate. * An Akgae = not only stans their bias, but actively disrespects the rest of the members. They’ll treat others as “background dancers,” spread rumors, or subtly drag other members just to make their fave look superior. In Korean fandom spaces, there’s often a push to make that distinction clear: loving one member the most is fine, but tearing others down is not. And honestly, I agree. Like, having a bias is natural. We all do! But once you start undermining the group or other members just to lift up your fave, that crosses a line. How do you feel about solo stans in general? Do you think the fandom needs stricter boundaries, or is it enough to say “as long as you respect the group, it’s fine”? Personally, I think solo stanning can be harmless, but Akgae behavior is toxic. Curious how others see it 👀 submitted by /u/SignificantElk5574 [link] [comments]
