Iāve often seen posts about how messy BLACKPINKās fandom is, to the point where the solo stans of each member are constantly fighting with one another. And Iāve just realized that this all stems from how YG Entertainment built their fanbase. They promoted BLACKPINK as four individuals under one group, rather than as a truly united group. From the start, each member had a different image. Jisoo was the elegant Korean visual. Jennie was the stylish rapper. RosĆ© was the blonde main vocalist. Lisa was the main dancer and rapper with the bangs. Even their voices sound very different from one another. YG also gave more attention to their solo activities. Even before their solo contracts ended, the company was already pushing each member with their own brand deals, sponsorships, and solo projects. There have been many times when the members had more solo activities than group comebacks. To be fair, this strategy worked remarkably well. By marketing each member to different demographics and aesthetics, BLACKPINK captured a vast and diverse audience. It also helped the girls build their own image and brand, which is why they can market themselves well even now. But because of this setup, the fandom has unfortunately been divided. And honestly, that couldāve been YGās plan all along. submitted by /u/why_dmn [link] [comments]

I've been thinking about K-pop groups that, in my personal opinion, had all the talent and potential to hit it big but for various reasons didn't quite reach that mainstream success. Here are a few that come to mind: 1. CLC This talented group definitely deserves a mention. They had members like Seungyeon and Yujin who were amazing at choreographing their own songs. But with every comeback, their concept kept getting switched up suddenly, and honestly, that really hurt their chances of being properly recognized š Fun fact: "La Vie En Rose," the debut song of IZONE, was actually a track CLC had been preparing for their own comeback. But sadly, the songwriter ended up reselling it. (Sharing this just FYI, not to create any fan war & I love IZONE, psps!) 2. GLAM New fans may not know, but they were BTS's seniors (legit from BigHit)! Unfortunately, scandals brought them down. I really liked their songs like "Party (XXO)," "I Like That," and "In Front of the Mirror." I loved Miso's husky voice and Zinni, honestly, can you find any girl group nowadays that can do B-boy like her?!?! Another fun fact: You'll spot Jimin from BTS in their debut song "Party (XXO)," and it was composed by RM! 3. Matilda My bias, Saebyeol! I knew this group from "Weekly Idol," and they had a great sense of humor! Their songs were nice too, but unfortunately not mainstream, and the group disbanded after a few years. If you're in the midst of exploring new groups to stan, I found this Kpop personality quiz pretty fun. It helped me figure out which idols match my vibe, and honestly, stanning someone who feels familiar or relatable just hits different š«¶ Feel free to share your opinionts test results here!! submitted by /u/Fragrant-Explorer894 [link] [comments]
In kpop groups, each member fulfills a purpose, besides the obvious categories, vocals, rap, dance and performance, there are those for marketing reasons, visuals, variety content, who are expectedly, less skilled. I believe talent is acknowledged within the kpop fandom, but some talented individuals may be more popular than the most talented because they are visually appealing. submitted by /u/Full-Amoeba5171 [link] [comments]

For those who are unaware, TXT will be coming back with a new album on the 21st of July, with the title track Beautiful Strangers, and BIGHIT has been doing quite a number of impressive things to promote the album ahead of its release. Among them includes the release of a two-episode mystery-drama-suspense variety show titled Hello Strangers (see Episode 1 & 2 here), which, according to BIGHIT, is a show that depicts the struggles of boys who have left their safe haven as they confront past conflicts and crises. It was planned based on the narrative of their upcoming album. At the end of Episode Two, there was a breaking news segment saying, "Planet Strangers has left its orbit and is falling towards South Korea." They also created a countdown website that is interactive and makes it seem like you're monitoring the Earth and using coordinates and signals to find something. The website updated to start pointing location coordinates to a place near Gangnam Station. MOAs weren't sure what it was until about two days ago, when some MOAs noticed an ongoing construction of what seemed to be a rocket-like spaceship thingy, with a banner covering it but the outline showing the date of TXT's comeback. Today, BIGHIT finally posted a picture of the now-completed structure along with the caption "Strange Object spotted in Gangnam." They also shared the info that a light signal from the object will be activated every night from 9 PM to 10 PM KST from today until the 21st. A special light stick sync performance will also take place on the 19th and 20th, and MOAs can go there with their light sticks to catch the signal. Like, the is genuinely sooooo cool and i love that they seem to be going all out for TXT this comeback! I hope they keep up the good work and i hope this comeback will be successful for TXTš submitted by /u/ilovemeeeeee [link] [comments]

I had this when I recently watched the MV of BTTF from NCT Dream, when I heard the chorus I was kinda hyped up until the āwe gon return the timeā part. For me that ruined the whole chorus and made it feel empty when something else wouldāve made it much better, if you get what I mean. I also kinda had this at Stuck in the middle from Babymonster (without Ahyeon), the song is cool but I feel like Rukaās part where the beat comes in, as well as Pharitaās high notes at the end of the song didnāt match the vibe of the song overall. I want to know if anyone feels the same about my statements above, or at least understand where Iām coming from. Pls let me know. And if anyone else have the same feeling for another song they also feel like some part ruines the song or makes you dislike it. submitted by /u/Far-Suggestion-6878 [link] [comments]

Mistreatment: to treat a person badly, cruelly, or unfairly. When a member of a kpop group frequently gets the least lines or screentime in a title track, their stans will immediately resort to mistreatment when none has actively been shown at all. Lines and screentime involve more than equality, it involves the concept, the membersā tones, their skills, and most commonly, the marketing. Iām tired of stans overreacting when a member doesnāt get the amount they think he/she deserves, especially when the members himself/herself isnāt vocally strong or a rapper in the group, why should he/she get more than others when skill wise, he/she is already lacking? submitted by /u/Full-Amoeba5171 [link] [comments]
