135. Have you ever interacted with an idol before they became famous?

It might be a silly question, but I’m genuinely curious if any of you have ever interacted with an idol before they became famous or back when they were just ‘ordinary people.’ In my case, I met an idol before she debuted. She actually told me about her group’s concept and we had a great conversation, I even got her autograph. I still keep it to this day, and I’m wondering if experiences like this are rare or somewhat common. This isn’t to brag or expose her, I’m just really curious. Thanks for taking the time to read. submitted by /u/CripticalPuma002 [link] [comments]

143. Who do you think is the most underrated korean female soloist?

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For me, it’s Kwon Eun Bi. First of all, she’s really pretty and has such a nice personality. I’ve seen her in plenty of variety shows, and she’s always so likeable. She’s not only beautiful but also incredibly talented. She can sing and dance really well. Even back in her IZ*ONE days, she showed great potential, she even wrote the song Spaceship for their first album. Since then, she’s been consistently releasing albums and contributing to Korean drama OSTs. She’s one of my favorite soloists! It pains me that people only know her because of her Waterbomb fancams, when there’s so much more to appreciate about her. submitted by /u/_berrystrawberry [link] [comments]

145. it’s okay if your fav group is not a vocally strong group

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

this is not hate directed towards any kpop idol, this is my opinion and i am open for any discussions about the topic. there are many groups that are more performance based and some which are more vocally focused, there are a good handful that are excellent at both. if your fav group is a strong performance group, it’s okay to admit that they aren’t vocally the best, i see a lot of posts overly praising some vocals of idols that are objectively mediocre and more shouting than singing and are attacking constructive criticism. for example, i’m a huge itzy fan ever since debut, i went to their concert before and they’ve established that they are a performance centred group very early on in their career. i can admit that their vocals aren’t the best, lia is great but the overall group’s skills aren’t top top tier. they’re on pitch but their technique needs some development and it’s okay to admit that. why? because they are performance centred and their stages are great! same goes for le sserafim, i think it has been obvious that vocals aren’t their strong suit. however, their stages are fun to watch and their concerts seem hype. it is OKAY to admit that they’re not GOOD singers, they’re good PERFORMERS but not necessarily singers. chaewon id say is the strongest vocalist within the group, with yunjin being next but she’s been straining a lot recently i’ve noticed. kazuha and sakura have a hard time finding the pitch and eunchae’s technique needs consistent improvement. this isn’t HATE, this is an observation. posting videos about their live performances with captions like “le sserafim proving everyone wrong and vocally eating up everyone’s favs” just cringes me out so much because you can be a supportive fan without bringing others down and over hyping their vocals. that’s just going to bring more hate towards the group you support. just saw a lot of posts attacking everyone who gave out criticism, you don’t have to blindly praise your idols because every group has their own specialty. submitted by /u/Odd_Nefariousness912 [link] [comments]

146. Would a K-Pop specific social media app actually work?

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Honestly ive always thought that the kpop fanbase globally has so much untapped potential like if it was truly united it could be a force the likes of which the world simply hasn't seen before. and i think a big issue behind this is the culture of kpop fan social media right now. we're scattered acorss a bunch of sites twitter, reddit, instagram ect., this comes with other issues like forced integration with locals (which i understand could be a good thing too) we're often pitted against one another like the amount of fanwars is kinda insane when we really all share a deep rooted love for the music and art of kpop and the big one, its reached a point (at least from my pov) where its very easy to feel like an outsider looking in on ur own fanbase. like on most social media platforms theres really just a handfull of big fan accounts and thats it and unless ur one of them ur a consumer not a contributer. So what if there was a social media app just for us? Is this a good idea or am i delusional??? submitted by /u/Suju_DS [link] [comments]

147. What K-pop songs do you think would sound insane at a Royal Albert Hall performance?

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So I was listening to Dua Lipa and Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert album and it got me thinking — what K-pop songs do you think would absolutely eat in that kind of setting? Like, full orchestra, grand lighting, fancy vibes, the whole deal. Which songs would sound incredible with orchestral arrangements, and which idols or groups do you think have the stage presence and songs to pull it off? Could be dramatic ballads, powerful anthems, or even songs you’d love to hear in a completely new orchestral version. Curious what everyone thinks! submitted by /u/No_Background9179 [link] [comments]

151. I don’t think Wonyoung has many friends

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hey guys — before I start, I just want to say that I’m in no way hating on Wonyoung or trying to spread misinformation. This is just an observation I’ve made! As we know, many K-pop idols are friends with each other within the industry (Jennie × Irene, Taehyung and various actors, 97-line, etc.). But Wonyoung doesn’t seem to have many. The only idols I’ve ever seen her interact with are the members in IVE, and celebrities she’s worked with in the past (like Sunghoon and Chaemin). Wonyoung often attends schedules alone — Fashion Week, brand events, parties — so I understand why she may not be able to interact with many idols publicly. I’ve only ever seen her interact with older individuals with whom she seems more comfortable with. I believe Wonyoung’s MBTI starts with an “E” (extroverted), and seeing her on variety shows, I can see that — so you’d think she would have lots of friends. But it doesn’t really seem that way. At the recent W cancer awareness event (awful event btw), there was a clip of Wonyoung vibing to music next to Karina and Yujin, and I thought, *“Oh — they’re all dancing together like they’re friends.” Then, a few seconds later Karina and Yujin move forward and start chatting with each other, and Wonyoung stays in her spot dancing alone — maybe because she isn’t close to Karina like Yujin is and because wonyoung and Yujin are from the same group Wonyoung was probably sticking with her. In another clip, you can see Wonyoung standing alone awkwardly in the middle of the room, looking around as though unsure where to go. I also saw a clip of Yujin, Chaewon, and Yuri having fun together (Wonyoung wasn’t there), and I thought: Yujin seems to have more friends and people to hang with compared to Wonyoung — even though Yujin, Wonyoung, Yuri, and Chaewon were all in the same group (IZONE) at one point. I don’t know she just seems to barely interact with other idols or people her age - not that she has to. You often see kpop idols post pictures with other idols but wonyoung I have barely seen unless it’s a group photo or something. When asked who was her idol friends outside of her group (or IZ*ONE) she answered with a much older woman that does variety shows … But she doesn’t seem to have similar age friends at all. But yeah guys that’s all I have to say let me know your thoughts ! submitted by /u/Blissypie [link] [comments]
