Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 3. The biggest downgrade in kpop has been the loss of grandiosity

  • 23 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is something I've been thinking about for quite some time. I've been a kpop fan for a decade now, and it was very different 10 years ago. It went from being vibrant, varied, and larger than life to...music for tiktok. I made a whole video talking about this and directly comparing "old" kpop to modern, but I won't like unless anyone wants me to; just saying I can back this up with actual examples. But out of everything that's been lost since 2018 (BTS's rise in popularity is, for better or worse, what actually triggered the degradation; the TLDR is mainstream attention is very lucrative) I think what disappoints me is that kpop doesn't feel very "grand" anymore. There used to be quite a few MVs that went big. Everything from the music itself to the costumes to the sets/locations felt larger than life. And now, they just...don't. I'm talking primarily MVs like Xia/Junsu's Flower and BTS's Blood Sweat And Tears and Spring Day, but there's also, off the top of my head and no particular order: Seventeen's Don't Wanna Cry Taeyeon's INVU and Why Chungha's Play Mamamoo's Décalcomanie Akmu's Dinosaur (G)-Idle's Hann and Oh My God Taemin's Sayonara Planetarium Records' Blind Vixx LR's Beautiful Liar Even Kpop Demon Hunter's This is What it Feels Like kind of fits, too. Out of all of these, the most recent one-discounting KDH-is INVU from 3 years ago. The rest are pushing a decade or so. KDH may not entirely count, as I've been told production started back in 2016 or thereabouts, which explains why so many of the songs sound like "old"/gen 3 kpop. I just can't help but mourn the loss of this grandiosity. The MVs themselves I get- everything I've listed has probably been extremely expensive; lots of CGI, shooting on location can be expensive, detailed costumes also get expensive to buy or rent, lots extremely detailed sets that are expensive to dress (again, buying or renting from a prop house; building them is actually pretty cheap- flats are literally just 2x4s and plywood). All this means that shooting in a simple "white box" is significantly cheaper, and kpop is all about maximizing profit. But the music? 90% of title tracks now are just "let's flaunt how rich/famous/attractive we are" while keeping the chorus as simple as possible to make a tiktok sound bite, and often eliminating the bridge to make songs shorter. Nothing is very "wide" or "open" anymore, very few layers to be found in the instrumentals, most title tracks don't build much anymore, and plenty of people have already complained about idols not being very good singers anymore (diehard fans will eat up anything, so the industry gets away with debuting idols with only a year or less of training, and it shows). I miss when kpop was actually interesting and didn't try so hard to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Jonghyun's Inspiration is still one of my favorite instrumentals, but a lot of kpop was still very engaging until about 5 years ago, when the degradation really picked up speed. While there are still occasional MVs that go big (Slay comes to mind, as much as I hate it; that MVs got a lot of shooting on location and detailed sets IIRC), kpop as a whole has mostly lost just about everything that made it interesting pre-gen 4 (no we're not on gen 5; stop fucking saying this). And I miss that variety. submitted by /u/PeachyPlnk [link] [comments]

10. Good experience with OTHER fandoms (fandoms you're not a part of)

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

There is a ton of content out there where people love to criticize fans of groups. Some of that criticism is constructive (kind of), and a good part of it is just kind of angry people on the internet. But something I love about Kpop fans is our earnest enthusiasm for our groups and their music. So I would like to know--what are the fandoms that you see as being great, even if you are not a part of that fan group yourself? Rules: don't put down any fan group to compliment another (i.e, "unlike this fan group, [chosen fan group] is actually positive" etc.). For me, the below has been my experience. This doesn't mean that the named fandoms don't have problematic people--but I am just saying this from a perspective someone who has interacted with members of a fandom while not being a part of said fandom. I left out the fan groups that I am a part of (though... i kind of think the ones I'm a part of are pretty great too). BTOB-- Melodys--are genuinely sweet. I love that they love BTOB and are so welcoming and friendly, and yet I have never seen or interacted with a pushy BTOB fan. They kind of just stay in their lane of loving their group. If i were to characterize them, and this is probably an overgeneralization, I would say that they're a very gentle fandom. MAMAMOO--Moomoos (correct me if the fandom name is wrong) are so CHILL--like the group--they are a bunch of nerdy (i say this lovingly) weirdos. Their lighttick is a turnip for goodness sake. How can you not love that? Twice's fans--Once's? (sorry if that is wrong)--I have not followed a lot of TWICE's stuff but they are everywhere it seems and so I have been in spaces where there are Twice fans--and they are some of the funniest fans. They're kind of goofy, love their group, and show up for Twice. I have not had any bad experiences with this fan group. What are your positive experiences with other fan groups? ps/edit: for transparency as a member of these fan groups, I did not name --Shawols, iGot7s, or Carats but these are fan groups that I think could be considered positive as well. submitted by /u/Exact-Worker7500 [link] [comments]

11. Please Stop Making Concert Stops A Competition.

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It just seems like nowadays, fans are trying to one-up each other by comparing concert stops too. For context, my last concert was for Le sserafim a month ago and I had an absolute blast. No joke, out of the six events I’ve been blessed enough to attend, this was the most complete experience and warrants its own positive review/thread. I had the time of my life, and so did everyone else in that building. However, as the tour carries on, and they’ve moved onto the US leg, I’ve seen more and more remarks ranging from saying “[x] stop was the loudest” and “They’re having a more enjoyable/comfortable time in the US, they shouldn’t go back to Asia.” And it's the latter that has greatly bothered me ever since. This issue isn’t even limited to Le sserafim either; I’ve seen it in other fandoms comparing the different stops’ energy and loudness, going as far as to say “They clearly enjoyed their show here more, they had more interactions” and “They did [x thing] that other stops didn’t get.” Yes, I am well aware that foreign audiences don’t get their favorite groups as often as Asia does (hell, even rarely if they’re in EU/LATAM/UAE), but I get this underlying feeling that we were invalidated? Not every country and especially not every person enjoys the concert the same way. Just because some crowds are rowdy and others are more tempered doesn’t mean they enjoyed it the same regardless. This sorta thing just steps on other people’s experiences, in my opinion, even if the competition is friendly and encourages future stops to show out. Personally, I’m more on the silent/casual end who’ll cheer and go silent at appropriate times, much like the Koreans, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it as much as the person who’s screaming every lyric and exhausting their lungs with every passing minute. I’m just not as expressive about it as others are. Does that mean I wasn’t internally losing it and making beautiful memories for myself? Of course not. Every stop is its own unique event, and at the very least, the idols will always do their best anywhere they perform, that’s a given. And before someone says “Well it’s just noise, don’t let others ruin the memory you made” and that may be true, being happy with your stop/show is more than enough; there’s no need to make it some kind of competition with others. We can celebrate others, but this whole comparing who was the loudest and insinuating the group enjoyed their stop/country more than [X] just seems like a detriment to morale when we all love them the same. submitted by /u/tobi_obito [link] [comments]

So, let me start by saying that I don't usually speculate on other people's sexuality and I would never allow myself to do so. I just want to express my views regarding the band. In my opinion V, Jin and RM are straight. JK and Jimin are bi, Suga is pan, and J-Hope is gay.
