Hello everyone! We are excited to take a trip back in time to revisit some K-Pop classics once again, continuing with this rate, the "Early Gen 3" Girl Groups Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Quick Links: Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin) Playlists: Spotify // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.) // Youtube (MV ver.) Deadline: July 7th (Monday), 11:59 Pacific (Link to a timezone converter) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays results to grab the most adored songs from each of the artists on Reddit, and we also had a songlist feedback survey on /r/kpoprates to help decide the songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 songs (& 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically for each artist (artists were also ordered by debut date): . Spica: Russian Roulette You Don’t Love Me EXID: Every Night Up & Down Ah Yeah Hot Pink Night Rather Than Day DDD I Love You HelloVenus: Wiggle Wiggle I’m ill Mysterious Crayon Pop: Bar Bar Bar AOA: Miniskirt Short Hair Like a Cat Heart Attack Good Luck 10 Seconds Excuse Me FIESTAR: One More You’re Pitiful Ladies’ Code: Pretty Pretty Galaxy The Rain BESTie: Love Options Excuse me Mamamoo: Piano Man You’re the Best Décalcomanie Starry Night Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe HIP Laboum: Journey to Atlantis Hwi Hwi Lovelyz: Ah-Choo Destiny WoW! Now, We That Day Sonamoo: Friday Night GFriend: Me Gustas Tu Rough Navillera Fingertip Time For The Moon Night Apple Mago Brave Girls: Deepened Rollin’ We Ride Chi Mat Ba Ram After We Ride . Bonus Rate: The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate! There were several songs that received high praise during the songlist feedback survey that still were barely not able to make the main rate, so we have put them into the bonus rate here to give them a chance to be rated. . EXID - Lady HelloVenus - Venus Crayon Pop - FM Fiestar - Mirror Ladies’ Code - Bad Girl Laboum - Between Us GFriend - Labyrinth . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Hip: 2.4 Ofc the title track that utilizes Mamamoo's vocal power the least ends up becoming the most popular (yells angrily at cloud) This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. You can also give comments for individual artists! Just write your comment after the :, such as the following: EXID: Are they pronounced like "exit" or are you supposed to say every letter separately? I'll never know For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: * Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/KpopRates_Ghost. * Google Docs ballot template * Pastebin ballot template Google spreadsheet template that you can use to calculate averages, record scores, and make predictions Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @Zypker124 and @aidshha. Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. The message was that the girls don’t need to marry a rich man, and they are enough by themselves. The pressure to marry a rich dude is reductive of their characters and dismissive of their abilities. This was accentuated by the capitalistic nature of the American imagery, specifically american football (that’s a band, idk them tho) and NASCAR, as well as a bit of the “American dream” where Winter toiled as a mechanic. This was concluded and solidified in the rebellion in the end. The girls are themselves and can handle their shit, even a whole fucking revolution (the irony and timing of this imagery as an actual American is really fun too lmfao, but we’re not here for politics). I think it was actually very sophisticated and intentional. Like, I’m not trying to sound pretentious but I truly don’t think a lot of fans understood the context of the lyrics with the imagery. I think it was one of the better stories/ideas that AESPA has told/communicated in their music videos. And obviously, it’s camp. It’s so exaggerated and off the wall and intentionally too much, in order to communicate an idea. I think it was artfully done and I stand by it as a comeback. (Sonically, it’s not on my playlists, but neither are most of my favorite musicals and I rank this with them.) This really is an appreciation post, but I’m flairing it as a discussion because I want to know what people think of the song besides “it doesn’t sound as cool as their last comebacks” lol. I think there was a really interesting story here! submitted by /u/Radiant-Actuary2870 [link] [comments]

Rules: - any gender, generation and group is fine - if an idol wins twice, theyre just in the group twice. There’s a clone of them. They don’t have two roles - global group idols (I. E. Xg, Katseye) don’t count - dead/disbanded idols and survival show contestants count, as well as ai/digital idols - the comment with the most upvotes wins - roughly every 24 the next vote starts! - try to make the most cursed lineup anyone has ever seen Now, who will our leader be? submitted by /u/DaGayEnby [link] [comments]

I've never listened to OSTs before and I started listening to Red Velvet's individual OSTs and so far I think it's SM, who do you consder to be the GOAT when it comes to releasing OSTs? So far I think it's SM. submitted by /u/jdpm1991 [link] [comments]
As the title suggests. Doesn't have to be a concert you attended, could be a clip you saw online of a song being performed by an artist and you instantly fell in love. Even if it's a new song it works. Remember seeing a clip of Home Sweet Home being performed by GDragon in MAMA and that had quite an impact too. i was reading an interview chaeyoung did for the grammys and she mentioned she didn’t made the album for commercial success, the album represents her healing journey and personal taste, that got me thinking what other “traditionally successful” kpop artists have gone on the same route? rm, right place wrong person is another album that fits the category, one of the singles is a beautiful 6 minute experimental track, that album is so special and you can tell his influences and the amount of care that it took to make the album yve’s projects could fit too, the sound she had with loona compared with her solo stuff is veeeeery different, her latest ep was quite a different sound for kpop but seems true to herself any others i didn’t think of? submitted by /u/Bl1nk1nUR4r34 [link] [comments]
So I was reading about some spooky stuff in the K-pop world, and I realized a lot of idols have shared creepy experiences that sounds spooky and interesting to me so I thought why not share them with other kpop fans who are also a huge fan of horror like me! I'll share some stories shared by kpop idols themselves on various Variety shows and Talk shows, you can explore more about these incidents on internet if you want more details, hope you enjoy~ ● THE HAUNTED STAIRCASE OF OLD JYP BUILDING :- Jo Kwon, the leader of 2AM, once told a story related to JYP's old building that had a famous ghost roaming around the staircase. The spooky story comes down from the first generation of JYP artists who have met this ghost, including Rain. The "Ghost Boy" roams around the stairs of the basement that people have been known to stumble and fall on. In one horrifying incident, Jo Kwon had such a bad fall that Sunmi had to call an ambulance for him. Not only that but there was also a trainee who saw a ghost enter the company building and he was staring at the stairs and giggling. Jo Kwon apparently asked what he's laughing at and he said that he saw a little boy with his leg extended over the edge of the stairs. He also recalled that the location of the building used to be a cemetery. Once, on a Live, Twice's Nayeon, Jongyeon and Sana also talked about JYP's old building's weird phenomenon, where a lot of people in the company fell on the same place. ● THE YG ENTERTAINMENT GHOST :- In 2016, when BLACKPINK promoted "PLAYING WITH FIRE" and "STAY", Jisoo shared that she had a lot of ghost encounters. She recalled seeing a ghost in YG's practice room and dormitory, and Lisa also confirmed that she had encountered the same ghost as well. Jisoo said one time while she was in the shared walk-in closet (they had a mirror there), she saw a white hand among the clothes. She was dancing in front of the mirror when this happened. She got super scared and ran out of the room. Lisa said she once went to sleep, then heard banging on her wardrobe. She experienced sleep paralysis, then heard something laughing in her ear. When she regained movement, whatever it was, it was gone. She also shared that she went to see a psychic and she told her their closet was haunted and cautioned her to be careful AND the surprising part is this all happened before she had heard about Jisoo’s story about the closet. ● THE SM GHOST IN OVERALLS :- The story of SM's ghost started when Sunny once said in a program around 2012 that SM had a ghost wearing overalls but didn't get too much into it. Later, Johnny and Jaehyun shared that one time Johnny and Taeyong were training in the basement when suddenly, they heard the sound of a water bottle leaking. When they turned around, they saw that the water bottle was closed. And that's when Johnny and Jaehyun said that SM had a long history of rumors that there was a ghost in the basement. It is said that when trainees are being taught new choreographies, they sometimes encounter ghosts. Especially when they are practicing late at night, they hear the sound of walking footsteps even when there's no one there. But it seems that SM's ghost encounters have their advantages, Jaehyun said that if during a rehearsal they see a ghost, the song becomes very successful. THIS IS THE END! Hope you guys enjoyed reading this! If you’ve ever heard of or experienced something similar related to K-pop, feel free to share it in the comments...I’d love to read more of these spooky stories!~ submitted by /u/LunaVixen7 [link] [comments]
I’ve been wanting motivation to move more so I wanted to try and build a playlist for kpop songs that give me the right energy to want to dance. I got really hyperfocused on Outside by Enhypen. I just had days in a row where I kept it on a loop and that was my exercise for the day. 😅 but I also feel like Xikers are one of the top 5th gen dancers. If I could award them on their strongest skill as a team it would be their dance performance! So I added their studio practice of Iconic cause their dance energy is just so satisfying. I also added XG’s Undeafted. I found a talented dance team that did the choreo and their moves are so snappy and sharp. The way they spin and stop with precise control is unbelievable! 😍 Haha okay I’m just gushing, so anyways I am looking for more song recommendations with the same energy of these boss vibes that include strong choreography. 🫶🏻 submitted by /u/Sienna_jxs0909 [link] [comments]

https://www.tiktok.com/@iloveburgers66/video/7505514696062061846 For decades Hollywood was pushing propaganda into the heads of Asian women with racist stereotypes and hatred trying to convince people that Asian men weren't sexy. Now that people are recognizing some Asian men as what they truly are for being sexy all of a sudden this term Koreaboo comes out to shame women. It is a misogynistic, orientalist and racist term because nobody ever made the same term Hollywoodaboo or America boo in an effort to shame minorities for being obsessed with American culture like cowboys or hillbillys but suddenly it's okay for people to do that with Korea? I've seen so many videos of women expressing that they are starting to love asian men due to media representation and yet somehow they are always shamed for it? I noticed especially alot of Indian and White men are the main ones putting up these misogynistic comments and it begs the question as to why Korea gets singled out? Especially where there are so many American media pieces that put down minorities, black people, asian people etc. why is it that Korea gets singled out? And don't give me that bull about it being the industry since the american media industry is just as toxic case in point with harvey weinstein. submitted by /u/Kpop_Love_Forever [link] [comments]
Recently when Ateez got two Hot100 entries back to back, I expected them to enter Melon or some other Korean chart at a relatively high position as a result of that achievement and the headlines. But neither the first nor the second time did their title track get a significant boost. In the very least I expected an entry within Melon top100 or Circle digital chart. Similarly, when Stray Kids, who are considered the top group in 4th gen, had their first #1 on BB200, and then few comebacks later also got first Hot100 entry, I expected that to boost their performance in SK, even more so than I expected it for Ateez, since they have a bigger fandom in SK as a whole. Again, that did not happen. Later they also managed to get most consecutive #1s on BB200 and I thought that would for sure give them a high Melon entry or something, since it's an entirely new record, but it again barely resulted in a boost. Before them Twice also had many new milestones such as The Feels and Moonlight Sunrise debuting on Hot100, but again both songs didn't see any real boost in SK charts. They are the only two 4th gen boy groups to chart on Hot100 which is a big deal so I expected that would result in a natural boost as a result of all the headlines and hype, and Twice is already known in SK so I had similar expectations. Do you think there is a correlation between those two things and do markets influence each other, or is everything almost entirely insular? submitted by /u/oddv8gue [link] [comments]
i'm in my mid 20s, i always felt kinda ashamed about still being a kpop fan even after i began my 20s like you really can't find better things to do in your life? but i just realised that it's so much better to like it now like i have money to actually buy and supports my ults, you can go to concerts in other countries if they don't go to your country, you don't care or engage with the fanwars anymore, and so much more but you really start to get the idols like as much as i love some groups sometimes i wish they'd leave the company because this is unfair for them you want the best for them you're just enjoying the music and content in your free time without stressing about keeping up with everything also the fact that it encouraged me to learn the language which is helping with my career and future young kpop fans trying to shame adults for liking it or even non fans making it feel like kpop is for teenagers is just so weird, it's literally music... (i know some adults are so weird about the idols but i meant normal people) submitted by /u/soleyedi [link] [comments]
