4.166. Have you ever stopped supporting an idol because of their unbearable agkaes?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I recently got into a K-pop group and quickly found myself drawn to one particular member — super talented, charismatic, everything I usually love in an idol. But then I encountered their agkaes… and it’s honestly been such a draining experience. These toxic solo stans constantly play the victim, complaining about how "mistreated" their fave is, even in situations where it’s clear the treatment is fair or balanced. They act like they're their idol’s personal savior, jumping into every conversation just to defend or uplift them, even if it means tearing down the other members in the process. It’s this constant superiority complex: "If it weren’t for ___, the group wouldn’t be popular." "They carry the team." I've even seen posts and comments where they accuse other members of stealing the spotlight. What makes it worse is that they’re always pushing for this idol to leave the group and go solo, as if the rest of the members are beneath them. Their energy is so negative and aggressive, it’s genuinely affecting the way I see the idol. I hate that I feel this way, but now when I see the idol on my feed, I can’t help but associate them with the toxicity of their fanbase. It’s gotten to the point where I avoid clips or posts just to protect my peace. And honestly… I wish idols would say something about it. Even a simple, “Please don’t put down the other members in my name,” or “Support all members” would go a long way. Just something to make it clear that they don’t condone the toxic behavior. When they stay silent, it almost feels like they’re allowing it, even if unintentionally. On top of that, these toxic agkaes aren’t just hurting the idol’s image — they’re damaging their image and fandom as well. The constant negativity and “my fave is the only one that matters” attitude creates such a hostile environment. Longtime fans quietly leave the fandom because they’re tired of the drama, and new fans are hesitant to get involved because they don’t want to deal with all the negativity. It stops being about music or enjoyment and starts feeling like a battleground. Have any of you experienced this? Have you lost interest in an idol or stopped supporting them because of their insufferable agkaes? How do you deal with it — or do you just move on entirely? I’d love to hear your thoughts. submitted by /u/ResponsibleUsual7536 [link] [comments]

4.167. Why is it still so hard for groups like SEVENTEEN, TWICE, and Stray Kids to hit #1 on Global Spotify..even while selling millions, selling out stadiums, and charting everywhere else?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

songs by K-pop acts to reach #1 on the Global Spotify Chart BTS – Dynamite BP – Pink Venom BP – Shut Down Jimin – Like Crazy BTS – Take Two Jungkook – Seven Jungkook – 3D Jungkook – Standing Next To You Jimin – Who Rosé – APT. Jin – Don’t Say You Love Me Huntrix – Golden BP – JUMP 🆕 it's genuinely wild how only BTS and BP (plus a few solo efforts from their members and netflix movie song) have managed to reach #1 on the Global Spotify Chart. Meanwhile, groups like TWICE, SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids are pulling insane numbers—multi-million album sales, global tours, sold-out stadiums, strong presence on YouTube and physical charts—yet they can’t seem to crack that Spotify #1. Is it a fandom streaming issue? Platform bias? Lack of casual listeners? Or is Spotify just not reflecting the actual influence some of these groups have? submitted by /u/Xchosenz [link] [comments]

4.169. Do people still care about GOT7 these days?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I started following K-pop during 3rd gen, and back then GOT7 was huge. They were easily one of the top 10 most popular groups internationally, maybe even top 5 at one point. The biggest names at the time were BTS, BLACKPINK, TWICE, EXO, GOT7, NCT, SEVENTEEN, Red Velvet, MONSTA X, and iKON. But now? I rarely see anyone mentioning GOT7. I could name over 20 groups more popular than them: BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, TXT, TWICE, ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, NCT, aespa, IVE, i-dle, NewJeans, BABYMONSTER, ITZY, EXO, ZEROBASEONE, NMIXX, TREASURE, ILLIT. Do they still have an active fandom and presence that I’m just not seeing, or are they considered an older group that fell off? Do K-pop fans now even know who they are? submitted by /u/Standard_Basil_5269 [link] [comments]

I was just cleaning my Tiktok followed accounts and saw an unfamiliar account named pocket music, then i clicked on it only to found out that it was Tribe's tiktok account. I also checked their IG and poof, also changed. I guess the fate of that group is completely sealed. It just hurt to witness it. submitted by /u/Shinjosh13 [link] [comments]

Personally for me it’s shipping members. I mean yes can 2 members act very questionable in a homosexual way? Yes, but to ship them is a little too much. I’m a stay so you can imagine how annoying it is when every other video you see the comments are like “MINSUNGGG🩷💚.” submitted by /u/starzwag_ [link] [comments]

4.179. Hobipalooza Berlin was killin it

  • reddit.com language

Jhope just served germany one of the best festivals sets this year!! He somehow managed to get a crowd of germans/europeans to sing in perfect korean, english and spanish 😭😭 The crowd was so incredibly loud and even the non fans enjoyed themselves a lot. i was genuinely so gagged by the armys, like they knew everyyyy lyric. And Jhope also looked so so happy 😪 (also the german reporters talked to respectfully about him, clarified and explained a lot of kpop/bts things and even really admired him) Thank you hobi for blessing berlin with this incredible performance ♡ we were so happy to have you here. What are your opinions about the set? Did you like it more than last years? any songs that should've been in the setlist? submitted by /u/Kk0aa [link] [comments]

4.180. Hobipalooza 2025: A full circle moment💜

Wow wow wow I remember streaming Hobi’s first solo stage live in 2022, I watched him perform his solo work in front of thousands and he did with so much confidence and aura, I thought wow is this the best version of Jhope?? But no it wasn’t, Jhope went on to have an exquisite solo tour that showed him gaining confidence, aura and popularity after every show. Now, we are back where we started, Hobipalooza 2025 and boy is there a huge difference in stage presence, confidence and audience interaction. Jhope has solidified himself as arguably the best k-soloist performance-wise, he is a beast on stage!!! A BEAST. Jay the performer that you are! The artist that you are!!! Amazing work! You did it pookie💜 Jhope is a master of the stage and I can’t wait to see more of him as a soloist and as a part of BTS. Also, I’ve never related to an idol more than Jimin during the show. He told him to take off his shirt😭😭😭 we all wanted that too Jimin😂😂 submitted by /u/Mobile-Structure5702 [link] [comments]

4.181. More groups should put names in their English subs

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

When I first started checking out i-dle, all their early videos (I think through Lion) have each member’s lines labeled by name in the subtitles. I found that to be hands-down the fastest way to get to know the members of the group, and contributed a bit to making me like them because I felt like I knew what was going on. I haven’t seen that with a lot of other groups, which is a shame, it seems like a really easy addition to quickly onboard new fans and orient casual listeners. Not that anyone here can do anything about it, just something I was thinking about. submitted by /u/zoooeys [link] [comments]

4.182. It's been 2 months since Yuehua announced Everglow's contract termination—where are they now?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

To preface, as a huge Forever, it's been somewhat disheartening to see all the disbandment assumptions, especially from those who don't follow them closely. This isn't to say those kinds of comments were made out of malicious intent, but to simply explain the purpose behind me making this post, to explain the situation. Without further ado, here's everything we know about EVERGLOW's future thus far, starting off with the big question: Is Everglow disbanding? The short answer is (very likely) no. This has been supported time and time again by the members themselves, who've time and time again expressed their wishes to stay as a group even since the contract announcement. Currently, the only possible wrinkle in this plan may be whether the group stays with all 6 members. EVERGLOW, as of now, has been promoting as 5 without Yiren, due to her remaining contract with Yuehua China. This isn't to say it isn't likely she'll re-debut with them; there's a good chance she will, as her and the rest of Everglow are still very close. (OT6 for life!!!) What's next for Everglow? If you didn't know already, Everglow will be having a concert and possible fanmeet (?) in Japan on 8/29 (Tokyo) and 8/31 (Osaka). They will be performing as 4, without Yiren (previously discussed) and Mia (unspecified personal reasons). The purpose of this concert is to raise money to purchase the rights to their name and all the official accounts that come along with it. It's safe to assume they already have the rights to their songs, as you can't really hold a concert without music. Still, I'm no legal expert, so I won't be touching on how they obtained their songs but not the full "Everglow" package. As for whether they'll be signing with a new company soon or not, Sihyeon has shared that they've attended some meetings, but haven't made any decisions yet. What can we do for Everglow? In my opinion, the best thing we can do for them right now is be patient and continue to support their activities. The last thing Forevers want is for them to sign a contract with a company similar to Yuehua. Everglow has been extremely present on social platforms, hosting lives and keeping us closely updated. It's important we stay hopeful for their sakes, and don't give up on them at what may be one of the most crucial moments in their careers. In conclusion: EVERGLOW FOREVER LET'S GO!!! submitted by /u/yeo_niverse [link] [comments]
