I’m mainly referring to during concerts / tours. Have you ever attended a concert and thought “damn they did NOT need this many backup dancers on stage” it’s sometimes just overstimulating and distracting because the backup dancers have such intense amount of energy and choreography whereas the idols have a much mellow - low energy choreography. Groups with like 5-6 members do NOT need 10+ backup dancers on stage for concerts 😭 I think Jhope - killing it girl is the only exception where having backup dancers have their moment to shine on stage actually fits so well. I havent seen the performance in person but even just on camera, it looks great! (im not even an army) submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]
I'll preface this by saying I don't know any kpop idols personally, and these are just my opinions, not the idols involved. But whilst watching ATEEZ+ yesterday, they spoke about how Yunho faced pressure to be the positive moodmaker, lifting both the members and fans up but has taken more time to be on his own and recover so he can be more positive on stage and with fans. And I am so relieved that he got to do that, because I think it is SO DRAINING to be the one giving all the energy, love, care and positivity as well as making fans happy and laugh so often. There's other moodmakers too like Wooyoung and San and it feels like they do so much to make people smile and stuff.... Not saying it's bad! I cannot say their feelings on it as I'm not them, but I know I'd burnout in such a role. Hey also Hongjoong goes so FAR for atiny it has me like "i hope ur ok dude" idk ATEEZ has me worried as they will go to such massive lengths to make atiny happy. I feel the same worry like when watching Stray Kids and Felix had a pretty huge role as the Sunshine, giving endless joy and tbh it seems so pressurising to have to give so much so often, being everyone's angel and sunshine. I'd definitely become a fallen angel and turn to hell if I was him (luckily he is not me lol). LOL he's much stronger than me to handle such a demanding role. 😭 Don't get me wrong I bet some idols love doing this stuff, or have better balance at sharing energy and light with resting than me. Some may loove it and do it like breathing. I just feel like as a person who was a people pleaser who acted like a clown and entertainer to keep people happy, I just assume that based off my own experience- it's a REALLY HARD job. Like even I when I had energetic friends I assumed they'd be happy 24/7 or was confused when they seemed quiet but from chatting to them- I realised they may want time to stop giving so much light all the time, and to just... pause. That's why I get a bit worried whenever there is a "happy virus", "sunshine" or a member expected to be the entertaining, loving and/or weird one all the time, who makes everyone laugh and smile- that aint easy to do and is a huge expectation that can have tough results if its taken too far. I hope they are being cared for and allowed to rest too. That sunshine is being given to them as well. Because those in giving roles do deserve to be uplifted as well and have people do moodmaking for them too. submitted by /u/AngleFormal [link] [comments]
What are the criteria for which idols are picked as MC? For example for an entire season of a music show? I can think of Sung Hanbin who has done MC gigs many times, even for kcon LA (despite the fact that he is not as fluent in English as Matthew or Jeon Somi), and he has been great! But what are the characteristics that makes him a good MC? And a good MC in general? submitted by /u/Ordinary_Cat_01 [link] [comments]

Okay so there’s this word in Korean fan culture that I think more K-pop stans should know: "sonminsu" (손민수하다). Basically, it means copying your fave’s outfit, accessories, or style because you love them that much. Like, instead of "I just bought the same hoodie Taehyung wore", they'd say simply "I sonminsu’d him." It’s like saying “I’m being a copycat” but in a totally affectionate, not-weird way 😂 But here's the fun part. The word actually comes from a Korean webtoon called
I saw this TikTok where someone said they stop listening to music if the fandom of the artist is bad. I get it if you don’t want to associate yourself with a fandom or if it was your first impression of an artist, but removing songs from your playlist just because the fans are annoying? That makes me wonder are you there for the fans or the music itself. For me personally, I really don’t care what random Twitter stans have to say. I listen to the music I enjoy, and I don’t let the behavior of other people dictate what I like or how I experience it. The music exists on its own, and the fans shouldn’t control whether or not I appreciate it. submitted by /u/Due-Design-3484 [link] [comments]

I heard that in their early days, Minho was the face of the group and he's still very popular, but the other members have also risen up too. Taemin has is solo career and Key has all his variety shows. What are some other examples? Also, if I'm not mistaken I remember during 2021-2022, Taehyung from BTS was the most popular member, but it's probably Jungkook and then Jimin now due to the solo era. What do you guys think? submitted by /u/Sea-Republic8892 [link] [comments]
The main problem with TWICE is that the group is too damn big, and it's hard for new fans to get into. And I think they could only have Jihyo Sana Tzuyu Dahyun and Chaeyoung and be more successful than they ended up being. submitted by /u/SpecSlayerSC [link] [comments]
1) Bad song selection. JYP's a&r department has been abysmal the last couple years, especially when you compare them to a behemoth like SM that always hits. Sneakers, Cake, gurs will be gurs, who ever choses these songs should be fired into the sun. 2) Bad promotions. This is one is pretty key as JYP holds the members back from any individual activities that stunts their growth. A massive error on their part. 3) No star quality. None of the members really grabbed people enough to keep them in the limelight, as opposed to other group's whose personalities have really captured people's attention. I hope jyp learns for the next their next girl group. Choose girls with star power and give them good songs again, not repetitive mindless stuff they put out now. submitted by /u/Lost-Investigator266 [link] [comments]
I love, love GD but there is a difference between idols appreciating their supporters vs actually enjoying interacting and being around them I think he truly appreciates every one of his fans and supporters but the amount of hatred and hardships he’s been through over the past decade definitely drained him. (100% understandable. he’s been famous since he was a literal child.) Like he doesnt do any fan calls, he doesnt do meet and greets and the VIP packages included his concerts are just being there for his soundchecks and seeing him during a “send off” after the concert. If you watch the recent send off videos posted of him at the LA concert, he literally just rides a scooter past his VIP fans and waves bye and leaves. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Zero interaction. I love him though. This isnt a hate post at all submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]
my friend and i made a list of the top 100 best boy group title tracks of all time and put them in a ranking bracket thing....i wanted to show the top 25 we ended up getting because i think we are very valid🙏 (okay the lack of group variety might be a LITTLE apparent but i swear as the list went on it got more diverse LOL) pls dont take this seriously we were just having fun!!!! can u tell we like &team zb1 and nct submitted by /u/kalkxxx [link] [comments]
recently, or more like since forever, k-pop stans are ALWAYS surprised at the amount of girls that are in TripleS (believe me i was one of those people too) but the amount of girlies in TripleS never stopped them from being brilliant as a group and individually!! but why is it everytime that TripleS goes viral, whether it be in a performance or something new all together, people ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS have to point out the probability of them “not liking each other” or how “TripleS is such a hard group to stan”?? am i crazy or are these casual-seeming comments lowkey misogynistic? the crazier part is people will say all this shit about TripleS and go ahead and stan NCT. they do it like clockwork!! with TripleS, it’s always comparing and contrasting the women in that group, how they probably fight everytime/they never get along, and how they’re difficult to stan. am i too woke for saying this is misogynistic or not? i want to hear your thoughts as well😭🙏 submitted by /u/avairaa [link] [comments]
I've noticed blackpink getting hated on for poor stage presence and I've also seen people compare them with twice, and how twice have better stage presence/synchrony. For one, I'm glad people are calling out lazy performances but I'm not with HATING. You can criticize without degrading. For two, I don't mind comparison cause it can help improve and inspire, but I think we as a community need to work on comparing differences in a way that's not insulting to the parties involved. And for my main point, I think twice has been lazy recently. Like in the this is for performance for the this is for tour. I loved the live band and the outfits but I have to admit that in that performance and every other one I saw from that tour, twice was lethargic. Sure there were probably clips where they were really going at it but for the most part, they were kinda just there to me. I think because twice has more members, it's a little harder to tell if they're being lazy or not cause there's so much going on. I also think that people tend to hate on the more popular folks, and this applies to almost every fandom/ fan related topic which is why bp gets it harder. If you can't tell, just watch the live this is for concert performance, and watch the dance practice or music show ones. In the latter two performances twice was all energy, be it in their facial expressions and the energy they put into every move, it felt like they were really putting their hips into it wink wink. People are going to find some reason to justify it and those reasons are probably a bit valid, my point however isn't about the reason behind the lack of energy, my point is that the girls weren't as energetic for the tour performance, and I think they need to be made aware of this ( no hating, just pure truth telling), and that they need to do whatever it is they need to do to fix this so they can be better performers ( nothing outrageous, just maybe not packing their schedules too tight and stuff like that ). I also hope that ANY group with CONTINUOUS lethargic performances get called out. This is one in few that I've seen of twice being like this so maybe this is why they weren't called out but still. If you're gonna criticize one, please do the other. NOTE : I DO NOT HATE TWICE. I LOVE THEM. THIS IS JUST ME TELLING MY TRUTH, AND MY OPINIONS. submitted by /u/False_Context4548 [link] [comments]
I think it’s almost guaranteed at this point, like how Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars ‘Die With A Smile’ won best pop-duo. Anyway, I truly hope so, because that means Rosé would become the first ever Kpop artists to win a Grammy! submitted by /u/bbyxmadi [link] [comments]
