1.395. No, ARMY loudly supporting women who interact with our faves are not largely 'overcompensating' due to jealousy.

  • reddit.com language

I don't know what's in the water lately, or if this is just the latest strange groupthink attempt to undermine ARMY and BG stans in general (as it's often flipped into a generalization) via gross female fan stereotypes, but I've seen several posts and comments about how the loud support of J-hope's dance partner for Killin' It Girl and Sana after he was on her show is basically a form of 'copium'. If some people genuinely believe this is true, than it's 1. wildly misogynistic, 2. ignores the age and demographic of most ARMY, 3, suggests there are many people in this scene who are so attached to gender stereotypes about female fans they have to make up complex justifications for keeping them alive in the face of conflicting information. Statistically, ARMY are mostly women with a healthy dose of men around BTS's age/in our 20s-40s, and educated. Other than in certain festering corners on x, where there's shippers, solos (mostly fans of other groups) and a small but frothy loud mix of set-up accounts and drama mongers, you can see this reflected in the fandom discourse in general. We are on average grown-ass women who enjoy seeing BTS act grown and interacting with women, especially since they're polite and sweet and treat those women well, and we're loud and happy about it because it's new and novel and fun. And, in the case of the dancer, sexy in a performance way. It confirms our opinions of them and that they like women. Also lots and lots of very active feminism. You just have to go to a Bangtan concert to see this in action. Overwhelmingly happy ladies and just the nicest people geeked to be there and chatter and share water and treats and stories and give out freebies. At the best of times we are a very joyful fanbase, and will extend that to the members' female friends and colleagues. Yes yes we are a fandom of millions and I'm sure there are endless individual or group examples of toxic af behavior, but the pleasure is legit and it's so loud because it's mainstream, not because we're coping with anything. It really is that simple. submitted by /u/Ocean_Desert_World [link] [comments]

1.399. I believe Girls' Generation's 'Lion Heart' was supposed to be an OT9 album

  • 2 weeks ago schedule

The songwriter for Mr. Mr. confirmed that Green Light was written prior to Mr. Mr. but kept in the vault to later be released as part of their 2015 album and since we already know that they have a lot of unreleased songs and music videos (like Dancing Queen), rerecorded Catch Me If You Can and Show Girls, yet another track from their 2015 album, I believe Jessica's voice was eliminated from a lot of those songs. Songs like Sign & Green Light share the same structure as their OT9 songs and Jessica's voice would fit right in the chorus. I think their first album to feature original OT8 songs was Holiday Night. submitted by /u/balmybuttons [link] [comments]

1.408. Vocals are only NMIXX's second most impressive quality.

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I don't think I'm the first to say this, but I think their confidence is even more notable than their sheer vocal ability. Add this to the list of NMIXX vocal appreciation posts. Everyone in NMIXX is at LEAST a "good" singer with decent fundamentals. But I think what makes them more impressive to me is that every member will push themselves, adding riffs, variations, adlibs, and attempt other member's lines out of the blue; it's astonishing. Members like Bae and Jiwoo - the "least skilled" singers in the group - will be attempting F5s and G5s on random variety shows. And even if it's maybe a bit sharp, flat or tight, they don't have the typical "deer in headlights" look a lot of idols unfortunately take on when they do vocal parts that are a bit too difficult for them. They're not doing these lines perfectly, but it's the courage to try and to own it that sets them apart. And in actively making these attempts, they end up improving by making active effort to change their approach the next time. And I don't mean this to disparage other groups or singers. The blame is entirely on companies for not giving enough attention to vocal training. But still, it's just so impressive to me. Sullyoon taking on the 2-person blended high note in Dice studio ver by herself in live versions - it's rarely perfect, but she's trying AND improving. Bae does a lot of runs and riffs, and thus her agility is far more developed than you'd expect (not that I'm saying she's Mariah, I'm not delusional, but again keep the comparisons relative). Kyujin in general is constantly impressing me - there is not a note she won't try to hit, nor a line she'll shy away from taking, and she'll do it while literally exhibiting superhuman stamina while dancing. And I don't need to mention Lily and Haewon. Everyone in the group owns their voices, and that's a weird thing to say but it makes sense to me. They're not surprised by the sounds they're making, nor do they sound like they're trying to conform to what's comfortable. They just come off entirely self assured - which is unfortunately less common than you'd want in this industry. And I think that's truly what sets them apart more than their pure vocal skill. I can't name a single (mainstream, idol) group that this has honestly ever been true for. That includes the ones you're thinking of replying to me with; there's probably one member in there who still comes off less confident than the rest to me. And that's - again - not to criticise their skills. I probably love the people they get compared to just as much as I do NMIXX. submitted by /u/hollaQ_ [link] [comments]
