Which gg is 5th gen leader right now: BABYMONSTER or ILLIT?

Both are extremely talented and have achieved some great success since debut, but who would you say has the edge right now? BM has the edge when it comes to YouTube subscribers and MV views, however ILLIT is doing quite well too. BM has the edge in album sales, but ILLIT has the edge in streaming counts recently. ILLIT also has signifcantly more monthly listeners on Spotify. ILLIT seems to be performing better domestically and they are pretty even internationally right now. However, ILLIT is currently exploding in Japan and doing very well in China. ILLIT's JP debut has been well received and their recent Glitter Day fan meetings were completely sold out. ILLIT was also ranked 4th in Japan's Top GGs on Japan Ranking Net. All members ranked in the top 50 of a recent Most Infuential Kpop Idols in Japan ranking. They also have performed at Tokyo Girls Collection, TMIE International Awards ( Magnetic also won SOTY) and will be also performing at Japan's largest music festival Rock In Japan, so I'm learning towards ILLIT having the edge internationally for now. BM is currently on a very successful world tour, so they no doubt are making waves in the international space as well. BM has achieved some great feats here as well, being the first 5th gen gg to sell out KSPO Dome, etc. ILLIT hasn't launched their 1st world tour yet, so unfortunately we can't compare them directly here yet. I can't really knock ILLIT here because they themselves don't get to decide when they will have a world tour and YG has put BM on a much more expedited path than we normally see with rookie groups. However, I think BM has done fantastic regardless of the immense pressure thats been placed on them. What do yall think? Who has the edge in your eyes? submitted by /u/tzukani_ [link] [comments]

7. What made AllDay Project so big domestically?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

AllDay Project has had one of the biggest debuts in kpop domestically in recent years. Theyre one of the few rookie groups to have their debut song go no.1 on melon. Pretty sure I saw a picture of the members at a gucci event recently and in general have been blowing up in sk. Honestly this has been one of the biggest shocks for me cause I wasn't expecting a coed group let alone a tbl group to have one of the biggest debuts of all time. I know internationally theres a lot of mixed reactions with the members especially tarzzan and idk how big theyre going to get or if this will be a kiof pt2 but im genuinely shocked with how well the group's done in sk. is it just the music? a lot of rookie groups have a similar yg hiphop sound like babymonster for example but what made Famous and even Wicked so big? also is this going to start a new trend of returning back to 3rd gen hiphop heavy music after the current 5th gen sound thats filled with more easy listening boy/girl next door concepts? submitted by /u/PrimaryTomato3310 [link] [comments]

8. I'm experiencing a K-Pop renaissance this year

For reference, I got in to K-Pop around 2019/2020, I only stan BTS, but casually listen to many other groups including Twice, Blackpink, TXT, Shinee, STAYC, Le Sserafim, and NewJeans. As you can imagine, when I discovered BTS, Twice and Blackpink it's like it opened a whole new world of pop music for me - the Western influence was there but the sound was still very distinct imo. I would say around the end of 2022/start of 2023, after K-Pop experienced a huge international boom, I felt like the music started sounding a lot more globalised and less distinctive from Western pop music from my perspective - and I'm totally open to being wrong about this. BTS also started enlisting, and I wouldn't call classify their solo music as K-Pop. I know some people find it a problematic phrase, but simply from a sound perspective, I felt like was losing the K in K-Pop, and though I still followed the genre and found songs that I liked, I was definitely less invested than I was initially, and also sharing the music less. I don't know whether I just oversaturated with K-Pop back then, whether the K-Pop sound has somewhat returned, or whether I've just gotten used to the more global sounding K-Pop, but for some reason I'm really starting to love and be fond of some of the newer outputs this year, and it's making me want to explore K-Pop again, some of the tracks I really love are: Katseye - Gameboy, Gnarly (not my favorite, but I love how experimental it sounds) All Day Project - Famous, Wicked Girlset - Commas Ateez - Lemon Drop (love the dance more, but the song's not bad), In Your Fantasy (love this track and it's really making me want to listen to more Ateez, so I'm open to any recommendations from Atinys Plave - Way 4 Luv (adding in because I just recently discovered them). Since my curiosity has been peaked again, I wonder whether there are rookie groups people have been getting into and would recommend, I'm not familiar with many of the rookie groups currently. submitted by /u/Rookie18 [link] [comments]

10. Now that BIGBANG’s 2026 tour has officially been announced, how much do y’all expect tickets to be?

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I guess it depends whether they choose a stadium or arena but i have a feeling they’ll do arenas. Older kpop groups tend to underestimate their fame especially globally and always end up performing at smaller venues. My guess is VIP tix - floor = at least 1k-1.5k? Since gdragon’s solo world tour right now the floor tix went for $750. resale went up to 2k. Maybe for nosebleeds it might be $150-$200 ish? I’m trying to save up NOWWWW, im not missing out on this once in a lifetime opportunity lol This year is almost over already so big bang’s 2026 tour feels so close 🫣🫣🫣🫣. im a HUGEEE VIP and i can not fucking waaaait submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]

18. What’s the most controversial opinion you have about a kpop group or their fanbase?

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Every time i see an “unpopular opinion,” its not so unpopular lol its a very popular opinion. does anyone have an actual unpopular & controversial opinion about Kpop? Mine is that people claim to be so worried and concerned when kpop idols visibly struggle with ED but turn around and call Twice jeongyeon fat every week and tell her to get a new stylist when its her body that y’all dont like. not her clothes lol 90% of the kpop fans claim they dont agree with the strict diet culture yet fatshame the hell out of jeongyeon, AKMU suhyun, Red velvet Joy & IVE liz (back in the days) etc. THIS is why kpop companies are never going to stop destroying idols health and force ED onto them because they SEE how y’all be acting when an idol gains a little bit of weight. The truth is that most of y’all wouldnt even be into kpop if they werent underweight-skinny, skin bleached and have plastic surgery head to toe. submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]

I’m in my early-mid 20’s and personally everyone around my age absolutely love new jeans lol i also live in socal and we have a HUGE kpop community here. i’ve genuinely never met anyone who doesnt like new jeans but on the internet it seems like such a crazy amount of people hate them & cant stand them which is really shocking to me It seems like it’s mainly because of the whole legal case they got going on, which most people my age just doesnt keep up with things like that or care tbh So genuinely curious, i wonder what the average age group of the new jeans haters are submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]
