This megathread is about the ongoing dispute within HYBE and the management of sub-label ADOR. Substantial news developments may be posted to the subreddit (outside of the Megathreads). Moderators will only approve posts that focus on statements by relevant parties, official representatives, or legal authorities. Unofficial commentary, fandom activities, speculation, or blind items will not be acceptable. Articles or translations should ideally be presented as neutrally as possible. Titles or content that are obviously sensationalized or intended to persuade readers to one perspective will be removed. English-speaking news outlets that have relatively more neutral reporting include Soompi, Yonhap News, and Korea JoongAng Daily. THIS POST MAY BE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED AT VARYING TIMES based on what the moderators are able to manage during their shifts. Please be patient with us while we work to balance keeping up with the queue and our own lives. DISCLAIMER ABOUT SOURCES: We prefer to focus on official statements from companies or other vetted sources. There will be widespread speculation and rumor-heavy articles, but until presented in an official capacity we consider them unsubstantiated. As Mods, all we can do is compile and summarize, but we are not investigators or journalists. Summary of Previous Megathreads ONE and TWO and THREE contains HYBE's audit of ADOR and Min Hee Jin's 1st press conference. FOUR summarized all events up to April 30th, 2024. FIVE and SIX contains potential ADOR embezzlement, MHJ's injunction and hearing, and a letter from the parents of NewJeans. SEVEN and EIGHT and NINE contains MHJ's injunction granted May 30th and remaining ADOR CEO, HYBE replacing ADOR board members, BELIFT LAB's video regarding plagiarism and lawsuit against MHJ. TEN and ELEVEN and TWELVE contains ex-ADOR employee's sexual harassment case, band Shakatak's plagiarism claim, HYBE 2.0 and ADOR restructuring with new CEO Kim Joo Young, MV director drama, the NewJeans livestream, MHJ's 2nd injunction filing and public events/interviews. THIRTEEN and FOURTEEN and FIFTEEN contains an interview with NewJeans' parents, Hanni and CEO Kim Joo Young at the National Assembly, MHJ's reappointment as director, Kim Taeho at the National Assembly, HYBE's Weekly Industry Report leak, the court's dismissal of MHJ's 2nd Injunction, ADOR board's vote against making MHJ's CEO again, NewJeans' certified letter of ultimatum to ADOR, rejection of Hanni's workplace bullying claim by labor ministry, MHJ's resignation from ADOR, and NewJeans' contract termination press conference. Articles / Timeline 250618 Noting this as it was the first official schedule after NewJeans' appeal was rejected, member Danielle participated in a scheduled event for the luxury watch brand Omega with ADOR staff in support. (Sources: Sports Chosun SPO TV News) 250625 The court's rejection of NewJeans' appeal was finalized, upholding the injunction against independent activities outside of ADOR. The one-week deadline passed for NewJeans to re-appeal and no new appeal was filed. (Source: News 1) 250715 Yongsan Police Station concluded their investigation into HYBE's claim of 'occupational breach of trust' against Min Hee Jin. The police determined evidence was insufficient and she was cleared of suspicion of criminal actions. This is relatively consistent with last year's injunction decision (see the 240530 entry, Megathread 8). Following the police announcement, HYBE made a statement they would appeal the decision on the grounds there had been significant legal developments in related cases since the main investigation, more evidence had become available, that multiple accusations by MHJ against HYBE executives had also been cleared/dismissed, and the KakaoTalk messages were legally acquired. International kpop fans are still spreading nonsense on Twitter, constantly trying to bring down keena and new members. And what is strange to me is that kpop pages that have reached a large audience are also participating in this. But everything came out, audio recordings, court rulings, documents, all revealed that 3j was actually colluding with Ahn sung il and spreading false rumors to get into Warnere. We even listened to the audio recordings together. Why can't 3j and 3j fans move on. Cupid is long gone and everyone is on their own way. submitted by /u/GooseSignificant8293 [link] [comments]

I’ve been keeping up with rookie groups this year, and it’s weird how people are acting like Kickflip doesn’t exist. They literally sold 600k albums and came from JYP. For context, I saw a post on X talking about Kickflip potentially winning Rookie of the Year at MAMA 2025 alongside Hearts2Hearts (early prediction). Kickflip sold more than H2H, and they’re from a big company. I honestly don’t know if people are genuinely unaware or just pretending to downplay them. submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

I saw a lot of people saying that bighit fumbled trainee A so bad that they could became one of the 5th gen leaders if bighit debut them. But those people clearly weren't there during their hate train in 2022 until the project got cancelled. start from leo rap scandal the amount of hit tweets that they got with more than 50k likes to the point that bighit had to hide him from the public until the controversy cool down so the group continue to do their activities without him for a while and then when they released their predebut song no privacy people accused them copying gidle my bag because the chorus sound similar. That's a lot of hates for a group that didn't even debut yet so if were bighit i would do the same to just cancel the project and start from scratch again. Not to mention if they continue the project people will never stop bringing up leo rap scandal to drag the group to the muds so think trainee A not debuting it's for the best not only for the company but also the members submitted by /u/Party-Confection417 [link] [comments]
Companies often assign K-pop idols certain personalities or roles within a group—like the "ice princess," the "Tom and Jerry" duo, or playful fan service dynamics. It makes me wonder: after years of sticking to these assigned roles, do those dynamics eventually become real off-camera too? Or is it all just something that gets switched on when the cameras are rolling? What’s your take? Are these personalities and group dynamics genuinely reflective of their relationships, or do the lines between performance and reality just get blurred over time? submitted by /u/dantes_02 [link] [comments]

Being on K-Pop twitter/tiktok/insta I keep seeing this recurring theme of complaints about things being “money grabs” or fans wanting their idols to skip touring for a year to take breaks, and while I understand what people are trying to get at, I think a lot of fans (not all) forget that K-Pop is a BUSINESS. Albums and Singles cost money to produce (just for tours you need to pay for - VCRs, Costumes, Plane Tickets, Visas, Audio, Visual, Merch, Mics, iPads, Security, Cars - you name it). Merchandise costs money to be made, Albums, production teams, equipment, all of it costs money to be made. OF COURSE the fans end up footing some of the bill. If you think about these companies, whether they’re big or small, they need to generate money to keep the lights on in Korea, pay the idols, the people work WITH the idols and everything in between. EVERYTHING is a money grab. That’s the whole point… But touring in particular, that’s one of the ways that idols make THEIR OWN money. In a lot of these contracts, idols get to take more of the profits than they do from their albums. So yes, while tours are exhausting, this is how idols can pay off their families’ homes, open businesses, buy apartments, go on vacations. Yes, the economy is shitty in a lot of places around the world, and each person has the ability to decide how they want to spend their money. But if you want your groups to keep promoting, to have money for new projects, new tech, new costumes, and to keep funding their dream… The fans help contribute to that with the stuff they buy and the shows they attend. submitted by /u/Old-Pomegranate1199 [link] [comments]
