Why do most Kpop girl group fandoms want their favs to be "TWICE’s daughters" and not BP, RV, or other past powerhouse girl groups?

I’ve noticed something lately, and maybe I’m just too chronically online, but it feels like most newer girl group fandoms love claiming their favs as “TWICE’s daughters.” I rarely see anyone refer to their groups as daughters of BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, or other major girl groups from previous generations. It’s just an observation, but I’m genuinely curious, why do you think that is? Why TWICE specifically? Would love to hear your thoughts. submitted by /u/Diligent_Thought_165 [link] [comments]

216. Kpop Idols being bad at dancing regular tiktok dance trends

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I literally cringe watching a lot of kpop idols dancing to regular tiktok challenges, even with my ults💀, like I don't know if its just a kpop training thing but most idols can't do simple tiktok dance trends without popping and locking every joint in their body, I can't even fully explain it but they aren't fluid? when it coming to doing simple dances they either overdo it or just do completely different dance moves. I noticed it more when they are doing amapiano dance moves or tiktok trends by black creators, those types of dances are more like a chill fun vibe where youre not really doing too much but for them they treat it like its a dance competition or it just looks like their body can't even physically do the dance so they just change the whole thing, I guess its cause they're usually taught one specific type of dance so... Even with my favs, when I see them dancing like that, I just avoid the whole video cause I really cannot. The only person I can think of right now thats always does the trends accurately is Shotaro. And their fans would still be claiming they are the best dancers when they can't even do a simple dance trend 😀. submitted by /u/PrestigiousUse203 [link] [comments]

218. Love how Blackpink reunited the 3rd gen at Deadline Tour

  • reddit.com language

(I know there is a megathread for the tour but the post is more about the attendance than the tour itself so I hope it gets approved) Blackpink Deadline Tour D2 was today and so many kpop idols and actors attended. However the best part was the 3rd gen reunion. We had Jhope from BTS, Nayeon and Jihyo from Twice, Irene and Seugli from Red Velvet and Seventeen!!! It felt like an award show lol. Just when it felt like 3rd was starting to die down they showed they aren't going anywhere Now we have Blackpink, Twice and BTS comebacks soon. Like 3rd gen will always be peak kpop for me. submitted by /u/VengeanceAI [link] [comments]

220. Was Hearts2Hearts originally Aespa's concept?

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This popped up on my timeline, a recent interview with Karina mentioned that she was originally prepared to debut with a cute concept. They trained a lot with Girls' Generation songs. But apparently, about 3 months before debut, they were told the concept was changing and started practicing with TVXQ choreography instead. Now looking at H2H, the members have said they trained with a lot of Girls’ Generation songs too, and their concept is definitely on the cute side. So it makes me wonder, was the H2H concept originally meant for Aespa? What do you guys think? Do you have any other info or theory about this? submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

222. Name a K-pop group and I'll give my honest opinion about them!

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I know these are here and there on K-pop Reddit all the time, but I feel like sharing my opinions. I'm a casual enjoyer of hundreds of groups so I should know a little something about a lot of them! However I'm always happy to be introduced to more groups :) I hardly have "controversial" takes, just for a few I think. So there should be nothing heavy, still just light opinions! Should definitely be mostly positive! My opinions are just my opinions and more often than not I have no intent to change others' opinions about the groups because of my own thoughts! This is for fun! Please stay respectful submitted by /u/BicycleNo1181 [link] [comments]

223. I hate how Kpop Reddit has such a big problem with women doing whatever the fuck they want…

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I remember when Jennie had her "RUBY" tour; the posts people made on Reddit were disgusting: "Look her xyz is out", the same with Lisa at Crazy Horse Paris. I swear to god, this sub has such a huge problem with women doing whatever the fuck they want. Just a simple reminder: They don‘t owe you shit. They can dress and perform however they want. You might not like it but that doesn‘t give you the right to call them "whores" or whatever, and btw that word shouldn‘t be used as an insult anymore. I honestly hate how K-Pop Reddit talks about women and often even about minors. And don’t get me started on hoe some of you fantasize about NJs selling their bodies as a form of revenge. Some of you are disgusting fr. submitted by /u/Physical_End_537 [link] [comments]

228. Take 3: This sub is such a good therapy session…

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I don't know, I love this sub because it makes me feel better about myself. It really is the perfect therapy session... We have this new Blackpink concert and fans of several groups already hyperventilate about their faves possibly making contact with the Blackpink members. This is so incredibly funny. Your faves are probably fans of their music while you guys are out here being miserable and hateful for no reason. Hating on the members, writing your little "concern" posts for their fans Imao. Since when did you care about Blinks? 💀 The girls are out there living their life while you are on this app being miserable, you can't make this shit up. — The clips I saw looked amazing. The girls are killing it, all the best to them and to every idol who attended. May all idols have a great 2025 💕❤️ Edit: Again, I don‘t care. Got nothing to lose here lmao. submitted by /u/Physical_End_537 [link] [comments]

230. K-Pop Night on Dancing with the Stars: Thoughts?

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Okay, so, I saw a post by Derek Hough on TikTok where he essentially said it's time for a K-Pop night. I wanted to see what songs you all thought might be featured. I thought in two ways: which songs would be GOOD for DWTS, and then what songs would they choose simply for popularity? My initially thoughts were they'd choose from the biggest groups internationally, like BTS, BP, Twice, Skz, Enha, TXT, Seventeen, to name a few. Or they would choose a viral hit, something like Cupid, or a NewJeans song. Anyway. I have to put my biases in there, but I think Fever or Bite Me by Enha would be good. I also know there's many BTS, and BTS solos that would be good. Also some TXT songs. They already featured Chasing that Feeling and Standing Next to You as an ad for the show. Anyway, thoughts? What would be best and what might be chosen simply for popularity? submitted by /u/Environmental_Ad3848 [link] [comments]

231. bts have a sound that no group has come close to recreating

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

it seems like no kpop group has managed to recreate the ‘sound’ bts’ discography has. maybe it’s vocal colours, maybe it’s production quality, maybe it’s the lyrics or message of bts’ overall discography. i always see comparisons between kpop songs between different groups especially within the same companies but i can’t relate anyone else’s music to bts’. (feel free to drop kpop songs that sound like a specific bts one but i really don’t think you can come by another ‘look here’, ‘love is not over’, ‘dimple’, ‘paradise’, ‘seesaw’, ‘home’, ‘black swan’ and more) arguably some groups have tried recreating the bwl-dynamite-butter-ptd era but (trying to) speak objectively no artist has done what bts has. i’ve been listening to music from new kpop groups nowadays and most have a great, refreshing sound yet also draw inspiration from older groups. i don’t know, it might be a bit much to say the whole of kpop is missing what bts has but that’s what it feels like. i remember when people were saying there will be a “next bts” when the boys went to the military but now they’re back and this “next bts” still has yet to be found. tldr; unpopular opinion but bts has an unmatched discography and no kpop groups have come close to recreating their sound submitted by /u/seigfried0401 [link] [comments]

232. boycotting riize is doing more harm than good

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i’m just getting into riize and seeing all the boycotting from kpop fans is so confusing, like you would think the guys did something horrible. i’m finding out that one of the members got kicked out and i feel like the common sense logic of it is to blame the company? taking it out on the group he dreamed to be included in feels extremely unproductive. they have some great music so ‘fans’ saying they’re still boycotting and refusing to listen to their new releases is just sabotage. i keep seeing people under tiktok videos acting like enjoying riize’s new music is a sin or that they’re betraying something, saying things like “nooo you’re strong we have to boycott” when someone says they like a song. protesting is fine, advocating and defending for seunghan is fine, being outraged is fine, but now the whole group is suffering for something they had no control over. is the goal to make riize flop and disband? does that help anyone? also isn’t seunghan debuting again soon anyway? these are people’s livelihoods and careers; take it up to the company who manages these contracts maybe. submitted by /u/seigfried0401 [link] [comments]

233. BTS are truly one of the most supportive artists in the industry

  • 1 day ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

J-Hope was seen at BLACKPINK’s concert today, and honestly, it just reminded me how BTS have always supported other artists. Same with Jungkook going to aespa’s concert, Taehyung showing up for SEVENTEEN, Yoongi constantly shouting out other artists on his shows. They never act like they’re above anyone, even though they could easily do that. Instead, they hype others up and show love without making it a big deal. I wish more people talked about this side of them. Especially considering how crazy fanwars can get, because it’s honestly frustrating how BTS are always respectful and supportive, and yet they still get so much unnecessary hate from other fandoms. Like… if your fave respects them, why can’t you? At the end of the day, the idols themselves clearly have mutual respect and support for each other, it’s the fans who keep creating drama that doesn’t exist. BTS have never fed into that kind of energy, and I think that says a lot about who they are. It’d be nice if more people followed their example instead of constantly trying to tear them down for no reason. submitted by /u/PuzzleheadedMovie950 [link] [comments]
