&Team K part of Hybes Japan based global group often gets misspelled as GAY in Korean 개이 = GAY 캐리 = Kei (K) ㅋ the extra line makes it K sound Btw in the clip he is waving and did give a flying kiss. Also what's funnier is his real name actually has GAY in it Full name Koga Yudai ( koGAYudai). K knows Korean but didnt mind at all. I’ve seen mixed opinions about hommas (홈마, short for “homepage master”), aka the fansite photographers who take super high-quality pics of idols at concerts, airports, fansigns, etc. In Korea, I feel that hommas are beloved because they capture idols at their most beautiful & iconic moments. Some even become “mini-celebrities” in fandoms, with fans of their photos as much as the idols. But from an international POV, I’ve noticed people sometimes see them as… kinda sasaeng-y? Like, “why are you following every schedule, isn’t that creepy?” And honestly, I get both sides. On one hand, without hommas, we probably wouldn’t have a lot of those legendary pics that go viral. On the other hand, yeah, it does feel a little intense to shadow idols’ movements all the time. I’m still not sure where I land. Are they providing a service the fandom loves, or crossing privacy lines? Maybe both? What do you think? So, after participating in K-Pop Reddit for almost a year now, I decided to write down some of my pet peeves about K-Pop Reddit. ~ One thing I dislike is when people post pictures or videos about their faves without specifying who they are actually talking about. Like, it's cool of you to show appreciation for your faves but not everyone knows them and it would actually be beneficial to your cause to provide some context and names. Another thing that really rubs me the wrong way is when people reply to a different opinion by saying 'Well, of course a xyz fan is saying this lol'. Look, if the person you are replying too is notorious for saying vile things about other groups or individual idols then I can see why it's worth pointing that out. But if it's JUST about a different opinion then why not just focus on the actual content of their post instead of pointing out that they are a fan of xyz. The latter doesn't add anything meaningful to the discussion and is just fuel for fanwars. The next point might be a controversial one and I'm also a bit conflicted about it: When it comes to Reddit, I'm actually starting to dislike snarky comments much more than outright hate. Why? Because I feel that it's much easier to call out the latter than the former. People who make these snarky sneak disses can always hide behind statements like 'Well, this just my opinion' or 'Loosen up it's not that serious'. I hope this doesn't come off as pretentious or elitist but I find it really annoying when people are incapable to use exclamation marks or simple post structure. I legit have seen posts that are just a huge clump of words without any sentence structure. But I also realize that I may be in the wrong here. Some people really just have the occasional brainstorm and thus aren't in a setting where they structure their post. DONGGYU NATION RISE Hi Everyone, I don't know if this will reach the right audience 🥲🥲, but I hope it does. As a member of Donggyu Nation the upcoming eliminations are making me feel so stressed, especially since it seems like his journey might end here... Of course, I'm not trying to be negative because he could still make it, I just have some words of encouragement for the fandom. These 2 months since I discovered Park Donggyu have been incredible, there have been many ups and downs as well, as as a few cases of toxic fans, but I'm really proud of Donggyu Nation. During the last eliminations, the one thing I said I would regret if Donggyu got eliminated, is not having seen him in a vocal position. My one wish has been answered, I hope Donggyu Nation can come together, and watch Captain Gyu's performance happily. Because we know he'll kill it on stage as always. If this is truly it, I'm forever grateful to the community we have fostered, we all came together to support Gyu, and that in itself warms my heart. I truly don't know if this is it, but if this ends, I hope we can all come together again soon🥹🥹. On TikTok and Instagram I keep seeing people bashing on Daniela for playing up her ethnicity for the group. They say she’s not Latina enough and I’m so tired of having these kinds of conversations! I also see people on TikTok seemingly waiting for her downfall because of some accusations about who she follows and her mother supposedly being a trump supporter. For the whole video, you're 100% convinced it's a classic love triangle. You have Seo In-guk's character looking heartbroken, while Ahn Jae-hyun and Dasom's characters seem to be a couple. The scenes of them together and Seo In-guk's pained expressions all lead you to believe he's losing the girl. And then... that final shot in the car with the mirror. It's a total mind-bender. All the previous scenes suddenly get a new meaning. The looks, the sadness, the longing - it was never about Dasom. It was always about Ahn Jae-hyun's character!!! It's one of the best plot twists in a music video, hands down. The emotional payoff is huge and it makes the heartbreak in the song feel even deeper and more complex. What do you all think? Lately, I've noticed a significant shift in K-pop. My 'For You' page is flooded with groups whose lyrics and concepts are increasingly explicit, focusing on sexuality. While I can appreciate the hype and energy of these performances, it's concerning to see how prevalent this trend is becoming. It makes me question the direction of the industry, especially given the widespread belief that companies are pressuring their debuted groups to be more seductive and cater to fans' demands for provocative content. I have to wonder: am I the only one who feels this is getting out of control? Where are the songs that aren't centered on sexual themes? It seems like a lot of companies have abandoned more innocent or meaningful concepts in favor of producing suggestive songs and treating idols as objects to fulfill fan fantasies. Is this really what K-pop is all about now? Is this why people listen to it? It's disheartening to think that an idol might have to show skin simply because a segment of the fandom demands it. What about their personal comfort and boundaries? The pressure to cater to these obsessive fan fantasies must be immense, especially since it's now seen as a primary way to gain attention and ratings in the global market. It feels like the industry is pushing idols to compromise their comfort and dignity for the sake of commercial success, turning them into mere products rather than respecting them as artists and individuals. For me, it’s no doubt Taeyeon’s ‘Purpose’ and ‘INVU’ albums. I cry to these 2 albums, it’s the most perfect an album could be for me from start to finish. Another would be TXT’s recent ‘Together’ album. (I admit I’m biased towards TXT as they’re the reason I got into K-pop hence making them my all time #1s) but this album was heavenly. From start to finish it was just insane and ending with ‘Song of the stars’ was just painful. Their Temptation album was also great.
