Why does Hybe keep trying to debut 6-member girl groups?

I noticed it first with Lesserafim (intended to be 6, then 5), then Illit (also 6, then became 5), and then finally got it with Katseye. Is there a reason for this? 6 just seem like a strange formation where you can't really have a center in choreo and one person often gets hidden behind. It also seems like a relatively big number for a small group, but a small number for a bigger group. What do you think is the reason for this? submitted by /u/papapamrumpum [link] [comments]

903. If you had to choose a kpop bg to save you from going bankrupt, who would you pick?

Imagine this, You have an entertainment company but you’re about to go bankrupt. You can’t offer much to your trainees: small crowded dorms, almost no allowance, barely any food, moldy and small practice rooms, a bit like how bighit was before BTS debuted. You can put your last money into debuting one of these boygroups, if they don’t make it, you’re broke and bankrupt. They are your last effort to save your company. Pick one of these groups you’d debut to save your company from going bankrupt. Try to not be biased, don’t pick a group simply because you stan them and don’t think about the succes they have right now. In that situation they didn’t debut yet and are trainees, so you would have no idea how they would do. Which one of them would attract fans and thus money? Please explain your reasonings, that’s what i’m most curious about. Pick one of the following groups: Ateez, BTS, TXT, Enhypen, Seventeen, Stray Kids, EXO, Shinee. submitted by /u/nhatake [link] [comments]

So which 90s kpop songs would you say are your favorite? Id like to know plz, i dont think we talk about those enough, lol. submitted by /u/Historical_Driver_87 [link] [comments]

910. Is learning Korean language by learning kpop lyrics feasible?

I mean ofc after learning the pronunciation rule already. Has anyone tried that? I have been thinking of developing a small app to extract to-learn words from a random kpop song lyric. I'm wondering if that makes any sense to learn that way. submitted by /u/ZipCat24 [link] [comments]

Genuinely love Jihyo so much and all of twice actually. Obviously Jihyo is know for being an amazing vocalist and dancer but she's also an amazing leader and clearly very beautiful as well. But yeah since twice have announced all their activities this year and their gonna be pretty busy, I thought I'd just take a moment to appreciate this gem submitted by /u/baldism [link] [comments]

913. Who is the biggest Japanese idol in K-Pop?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like with Thai idols, it's very clear (Lisa, but maybe Nichkhun at his peak), Chinese idols I'd say the EXO members (and maybe Jackson?) But there's a lot more Japanese idols than Thai or Chinese, so I figured we have more to choose from. Who would you consider the most popular/successful/influential Japanese idol (male or female)? Would it be Sakura or Sana/Mina/Momo? Or Yuta maybe? I'm not even sure who's bigger in Japan - Misamo or Sakura? submitted by /u/papapamrumpum [link] [comments]

917. I‘m working on a community project dedicated to creating a well managed and open K-Pop sub!

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Heyy everyone ⭐️ I‘ve currently been working on creating a K-Pop discussion sub called r/kpopnotes. The idea for this sub is to create a community project where the whole community works on creating a well managed K-Pop discussion subreddit. It‘s supposed to be well moderated while also being easy to use and allowing you to post and engage with a wide array of topics without you having to suffer from a weird and overbearing reporting system. I sometimes feel like many moderators misinterpret their task as policing others and setting up certain narratives instead of providing their community with the most enjoyable experience. Our idea would be to actively involve the community in how our sub will turn out, like a group project. You guys can, for example, decide over how the flair system is set up or how our rules will be structured. And those are just some examples. Our sub is supposed to be a place where you can post about topics that are banned or heavily restricted in other subreddits while still having an enjoyable experience due to a well managed moderation. submitted by /u/MyNameIsMyName_2013 [link] [comments]

919. Blinks and their worries for this world tour

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I have been online and see so many discourses regarding this tour. The general sentiment of some blinks themselves is that the group will deserve constructive criticism if not ready to perform. But as an ex-blink (now casual listener) who went to their past concert it's clear to me that what really worries the fandom is not the whole group performance but Jennie's one and consequentially her reputation. Let's be honest she is the member who struggled a lot during the past tour. During my concert she looked extremely tired and she was easily out of breath. I've always defended her in the past but it's clear after her Coachella performance that her live stages are still lacking when it comes to stamina/energy. Blinks always had a soft spot for her so it's clear that after a quite successful solo run they are scared that once again the tour will come to mess stuff up a bit. I say this because I feel like the fandom always resume to "THEY will look like a mess if they are not training", as a form of deflection to protect Jennie from any form of future criticism coming her way by making it a group lashing moment instead which I don't think some members deserve giving how consistently good they were during the past tour. submitted by /u/Alarmed-Location8681 [link] [comments]

920. I hate how some K-Pop fans cannibalize themselves…

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Before I go on I wanna state that there obviously are problematic aspects in the K-Pop industry, just like with every other industry. I feel like a lot of K-Pop "fans" have this weird habit of degrading themselves while also looking for validation from fans of other industries. It‘s honestly sad in my opinion. There are users who unironically post all day about how the industry is so "fake" and "soulless" while continuing to still participate in K-Pop spaces. I‘m sorry but why are still here then?? If you dislike the industry that much then why do you continue to engage in these spaces?? Is there seriously nothing that you like about the industry? Guess what, the western industry has just as many flaws, if not even more. And if you seriously dislike K-Pop that much then why are you still supporting, posting about and engage with it? Shouldn‘t be the most appropriate step then to boycott it? submitted by /u/Physical_End_537 [link] [comments]
