591. concert etiquette / Stray Kids concert rant (as a casual listener)

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

let me preface by saying that this is NOT a dig at the boys at all!! i thought they all performed super well and were very entertaining!! this is simply me just getting this rant off my chest lol. i cannot stress enough that this was a 100% genuine experience, and i am still reeling from it almost a week later. okay so, i am a very, very casual skz fan. i haven’t really kept up with comebacks or content, i basically only know their title tracks. my friend however, is a MASSIVE stay. like absolutely obsessed, so when she heard they were coming to our city, she immediately bought tickets. the friend she had invited originally backed out last minute, so i went with her so that she a) didn’t have to go alone, and b) she didn’t waste like, $600 on a ticket for nobody. i honestly didn’t even really think much of it in terms of concert prep or outfit, i wasn’t super dressed up since we had floor seats and there was like, zero chance of interaction. i did wear platform heels though(which will come into play later on), because the venue didn’t have an angled floor, meaning that i wouldn’t have had the best view if i wore regular, non-lifted shoes (short). we got to the venue about 30-ish minutes before the show was supposed to start (again, we had seats so we weren’t about to fight people to get in), and the crowd was MASSIVE. way bigger than i was expecting. there was a bit of a rush when the doors opened, but nothing crazy. we beeped in our tickets and just started walking around, familiarizing ourselves with the venue. it was the first day this venue was open to the public, so we were just trying to take it all in. as soon as we got properly into the venue though, the runners spawned out of nowhere. we had to keep bobbing and weaving out of peoples was as they barrelled towards the floors, even as security was shouting at them to slow down. still, it wasn’t a big issue, and i could tell that they were all just excited, so i didn’t pay any mind to it. we picked up some merch and a lightstick to share between us and headed to our seats as they started their opening song. this is where i got a little annoyed. we had decent seats, on the floor and near one of the mixing booths, but as we arrived at our seats, there were already people sitting down in them. we bought two seats, and there were five girls, all of them seemingly with each other, crowded around. two were standing in front of our seats, and three were standing in the aisle, blocking up the walkway. we gently told them that they were in our seats, and they just laughed amongst themselves. we just kinda stood there for a moment because what??? we told them again, and we got a chorus of grumbles and eye rolls, but the two girls who were standing shuffled out and moved to join the other three. they however, did not move out of the aisle, choosing instead to just. stand there. i got fed up and just pushed through them, not really giving a shit at this point. once my friend and i had our seats secured, the girls still made no effort to move out of the aisle, leaving us to be squished between them and the two girls in the seats beside ours. not fun, but my friend didn’t seem to care much, so i just shrugged it off. she had the inner seat, so that meant that i was the one having direct contact with these girls. they DID NOT move. for basically the entire concert. i had to keep bumping them every time they tried to step in front of me, and they made it a point to obscure my view with their phones and lightsticks. the venue staff and security did fuck all too, which just made everything worse. i was pretty annoyed about halfway through the show, and my platforms were beginning to hurt my feet, so i made the conscious decision to sit down. i wasn’t able to see the stage either way, so i figured i’d save my ankles the torture for the next couple of songs. they then (very loudly) began complaining and making broad comments along the lines of ‘oooh it’s so unfair that people that don’t even like skz as much as we do got tickets for this concert, what a waste’ yada yada. i am old (23), and i have been in the kpop/fandom sphere for over a decade, this was not my first kpop concert rodeo, so i tried once again to not let it bother me. clearly these girls were huge fans, and probably had shitty seats, so if standing here makes their experience better (ignoring obvious safety and fire hazards), then whatever. just as they start to quiet down, i feel a tap on my shoulder. i look up at the group of girls, where they actually, genuinely asked me to give up my seat so that they can stand there. i just sort of went ‘no?’ and they tried to HAGGLE, saying that they have seats further in the back but still on the floors, and that i’m sitting anyways so who cares, and that THEY are uncomfortable because they’re all squished in. i genuinely thought i was hallucinating or didn’t hear them correctly, so i just sort of laughed awkwardly. i guess they didn’t like that, so they continued to try and argue that i’ve been sitting on my phone the entire time, so why should i even care? i explained that i was here with my friend, and they said that i could just meet up with them after. at this point i just told them to fuck off, and ignored them. they continued to try and press in front of me (literally in the little gap between my seat and the seat in front of me), so i just stayed seated. we had the two final seats in our row on the right hand side of the section, and if you didn’t know, the boys get on carts and move around the venue during their encore. the tracks/path that they were following were to our left, so we were still pretty far away, but it was still cool to see them slightly closer to us. once the carts began passing by our section, the girls that had been giving us (me) problems straight up pushed us out of the way, knocking our seats back (they were folding chairs, so they weren’t secured to the ground) and ran down the row to get closer to the left hand side. the chairs moved so far back that the knocked into the girls standing behind us, who were thankfully very understanding when we turned around to apologize. this group of girls crowded up on the right hand side, and as the carts were passing us and moving on to the next section, they ran back towards us, pushing by again and bolting to follow the cart. they thankfully didn’t come back to our section after that, and we didn’t see them again. i’m just so surprised with this whole thing. i would understand the attitudes if we were in the pit, but these were literally seats, and it wasn’t even one of the closer sections!! we were way far back. maybe i’m just an old head and don’t understand current concert etiquette, but this should be pretty standard stuff, no?? either way, the boys themselves were great, they were all entertaining, even when they were just talking, and felix is stupidly attractive in person. seriously, that guy is otherworldly. this is just me blowing off steam because i’m still a little ticked off. has anyone else had a less than pleasant experience at a kpop show? skz or not? would love to hear your stories for self-validation purposes lol submitted by /u/Independent-Ease-276 [link] [comments]

592. appropriate behaviour at the airport when you see an idol?

So pretty much I was at Taipei immigration today as I entered the que for immigration, a few minutes later Meovv were queing behind me. Alot of people were pulling out phones and taking photos of them in-line when the area specifys not to take photos due to it being a passport control and the managers were asking people not to take photos. There were also fans who were pass immigration with professional cameras taking pictures of the girls in-line. Looking at this it feels disrespectful to people trying to get pass immigration and the people working, but i could be wrong lol. submitted by /u/thebosslol101 [link] [comments]

598. listening to ive’s entire discography + ranking it

so I listened to IVE’s entire discography this morning and I enjoyed it a lot. This was rlly hard to rank since they have so many songs (and all are bangers imo). I originally was going to do a title track ranking and then a top 10 tracks list, but there was so many songs I wanted to include so I settled for top 20. I even surprised myself with this ranking —title track ranking: after like eleven accendio heya attitude rebel heart crush baddie either way love dive off the record i am kitsch wave I think this is all, although I might’ve forgotten to add one —top 20 songs: after like eleven accendio heya supernova love attitude tko rebel heart crush flu baddie off the record either way i am holy moly love dive summer festa my satisfaction dare me cherish I personally rlly like ive empathy, ive switch, and i’ve mine submitted by /u/yunjsst [link] [comments]

601. Was Fromis_9 a popular group to begin with?

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I would say that I’m newer to kpop. I used to listen to a lot when I was younger, stopped for years and got back into it maybe 2-2.5 years ago? I don’t necessarily think I ‘stan’ any group especially companies(!!!), but I do listen to a lot of Hybe and JYP artists/groups in general. I’ve seen a lot of discourse over Fromis_9 being treated wrong, not being marketed right, wrongly being disbanded, etc. and the rejoice of them being under a different company now. I’m ecstatic for them as well as their fans and I know there was a lot of hearsay about MHJ playing a role in their disbandment, and just so much more. I think, or try to be pretty objective/level headed when it comes to kpop. I understand that music taste is absolutely subjective and just because xyz may not be my cup of tea, that doesn’t mean there’s not thousands of millions of netizens that love said groups or songs! But my question is was Fromis_9 popular to begin with? Or are netizens more happy for them (like me) because they are getting another chance? Looking back at their music streams, video views, etc. they were doing pretty great, but not ‘being under a sub-label of Hybe’ great. Genuinely no hate to the group at all there is always a lot of nuance to these things and I’ve been wondering this for a long time, so please let me know your thoughts in general, but especially if you’ve been a fan of theirs or followed the group for a long time! submitted by /u/Horror-Boss-8495 [link] [comments]

603. Thoughts on Ahyeon in Baemon + Bailey in ADP

  • 4 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I saw a comment on the Wicked stage that Bailey moves in 120 fps vs the other members at 60 fps IDK if the choreo is supposed to be different for the center (Bailey) from 3:51, but imo she rocks the spotlight sooo hard!! Are the situations similar, would those who found synchroncity the biggest issue in BaeMon also be annoyed by the slight delays here too? imo I loved Bailey's personal flairs, so charismatic and it kind of make me wanna revisit the whole ahyeon thing (or is it still that she should mould to fit) any thoughts? submitted by /u/Temporary-Outside-21 [link] [comments]
