3.734. I really think Trainee A would've been huge if they debuted

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, especially with how some of the former Trainee A members are slowly popping up again in the industry. It honestly makes me sad seeing what could’ve been. Let’s talk facts!!! members like JJ and Jihoon have proven they’ve got presence. JJ trended when he was revealed as an SM trainee. Jihoon’s debut in TWS might not have made huge waves, but it did spark discussion. Then there's Yorch.. his debut also drew attention, even if it didn’t blow up massively. Still, people talked. And hello??? Woochan with All Day Project?? That man has the whole K-pop community talking — not because of a scandal, but because of how excellent he is. He’s killing it with his rap, stage presence, everything. Truly one of the standouts of this year. Let’s not forget Leo and Sangwon from Boys Planet 2. They were literally main characters of that show. Leo being the judges’ top pick and Sangwon pulling in viewers as a visual magnet! you can't deny their impact. Jihoon was a choreographer’s favorite, JJ and James were monsters on stage, and Woochan slayed both rap and dance. It just hurts, you know? Watching a group with this much potential fall apart before they even got the chance. All because BigHit couldn’t handle Leo’s issue properly fr something that could’ve been prevented or at least managed better. The whole team had such a massive following even in their pre-debut days. Over a million YouTube subscribers ( that’s a number some established groups struggle to reach). Trainee A really could’ve been the next big thing. Anyone else still not over it? submitted by /u/codegreen22 [link] [comments]

3.740. A little appreciation post for Namjoon's lyricism and wordplay in Trivia:Love

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

As a non-korean, I feel lots of absolute genius wordplay of this man gets lost in translation but when you really dig deep, you realize how much you're missing out when it comes to his lyricism. I love his playful yet clever wordplay between 사람 and 사랑 throughout Trivia:Love and him using the korean letters to convey how love erodes his edges(I'll share an excerpt of it here). Do share your favorite RM lyrics here. (Translation credit: Doolset) 사람을 사랑으로 만들 사람 that you are the one who will make a person into a love 사람 [saram] to 사랑 [sarang] 널 알기 전 내 심장은 온통 직선뿐이던 거야 Before knowing you, my heart was filled with straight lines only Notice how ㅁ, the consonant in the bottom of 람 of 사람, is comprised of four straight lines 난 그냥 사람, 사람 사람 I’m just a human, human, human 넌 나의 모든 모서릴 잠식 You erode all my edges 나를 사랑, 사랑, 사랑으로 만들어 만들어 and make me a love, love, love For 사람 to become 사랑, the edges of ㅁ have to be smoothed out so that ㅁ can become ㅇ. Similar to English, but not in the entirely same way, the word “edge” is used to describe people in Korean. A person with edges is someone who is difficult and unsociable. “You” are the one who melts “my” edges away to make me into someone who is able to love (or who is a love) 우린 사람, 사람, 사람 We are humans, humans, humans 저 무수히 많은 직선들 속 Among those countlessly many straight lines 내 사랑, 사랑, 사랑 my love, love, love 그 위에 살짝 앉음 하트가 돼 When we gently sit on it, it becomes a heart Imagine gently pressing the top of ㅇ (that used to be ㅁ) towards the center to make a heart-shape I live so I love I live so I love You make I to an O (1) Live to Love, (2) a straight line to a full circle, which represents the notions of totality, wholeness, and the self I to an O 너 땜에 알았어 I learned thanks to you 왜 사람과 사랑이 비슷한 소리가 나는지 why person [saram] and love [sarang] sound similar submitted by /u/My_Rhythm875 [link] [comments]

3.744. I feel overwhelmed about the kpop industry and fans:(

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Look. I know there are bunch of good things about kpop. But lately the toxic sides have been so overwhelming to think about. So many groups with minors debuting, rcism, msogyny, hateful fans that bodyshame, subreddit that s*xualise kpop idols (even minor kpop idols). The normalization of surgeries, heavy filters... it just feels so manufactored and as a young person it feels weird to see all those "perfect looking" humans. I would not want to support minors debuting so I have searched what groups have minors and avoid listening to them. I keep thinking how these young girls and boys are trained so harshly and put through horrible stuff. It is so hard to know if the idols truly enjoy their job, especially if it is a minor. I know that music consumption does not need to be that serious and you can separate the art from the artist but I am seriously getting tired and do not feel comfortable supporting groups like unis, with a member that debuted at 13 years old. The constant scandals, rude fans that critique idols breathing or other fans all different opinions... I feel like I should maybe take a break. submitted by /u/Impressive_Cod9892 [link] [comments]

3.746. why the hate for an yujin's cover of golden is unfair

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i've been seeing a lot of unnecessary criticism towards an yujin’s cover of “golden,” mostly about “too much autotune” or that her vocals are somehow less valid because of pitch correction. honestly, people looking for something to complain about. autotune is everywhere in kpop, and it’s not inherently a bad thing. It’s a tool used to smooth out tiny imperfections, add stylistic color, or create a certain vibe. people are acting like yujin’s cover is robotic or talentless just because of some pitch correction, autotune can’t make a bad vocal sound amazing. You NEED to have a good base vocal for autotune to work properly—otherwise, it just sounds messy or unfixable. case in point: a lot of people praise kim dahye’s cover of “golden,” yet it’s clearly autotuned too and I don’t see the same complaints. why the double standard? autotune is part of the modern pop sound, and it’s not cheating if the end result sounds good. stop hating please there's nothing to hate abt submitted by /u/luv_lars [link] [comments]
