I often read that 5th gen groups aren’t really making much noise, or that their growth in popularity and numbers is kinda slow. Basically, Gen 3 and 4 are still well-known and dominating, while Gen 5 is struggling to make a name for themselves because the market is already crowded and they have to compete with older generations. Gen 3 came in when the K-pop market was rapidly expanding, and Gen 4 arrived when the market was at its peak. Even during COVID, as bad as it was, the digital side (streams, online presence, etc.) was at its strongest, so that helped them a lot. But Gen 5 came in after that peak started fading. The market doesn’t feel as crazy or explosive as before, so they’ve got a harder time building names for themselves. Looking at numbers now vs a few years back, it’s pretty clear things have slowed down. So Gen 5 groups need more time to really build their names. This numbers kinda shows it, the numbers this year just aren’t as big as before, which explains the current state of the K-pop market. What do you guys think? I have seen a few posts recently about new kpop groups being boring or all sounding the same (and more Westenized) & also about how lesser known groups aren't given a chance & end up disbanding & this inspired me to write this post. I recently discovered the group NouerA & I wanted to tell people about them (mainly because I hardly ever see them mentioned & also when I mention them, people haven't heard of them)! So if you are open to checking out lesser known groups then here is a bit of info about them & some links. They are a 7 member, multi-national group formed from the survival show Make Mate 1 who debuted in February & they consist of 3 Korean, 1 Korean Chinese, 1 Chinese & 1 Japanese member. Their sound has been described as more like old school kpop & they debuted with the song N.I.N (New is Now) MV & the promoted bside Bring The Crunk Music show performance. They have recently had a comeback with n (number of cases) MV & the promoted bside Beauty & the Beast Performance MV Their predebut song MU is also good if you like noisy music music show performance & I appreciate them trying to sing this live with it's difficult choreography before they have even debuted. Finally they have also done a cover of aespa's Black Mamba which is pretty impressive too KBS Open concert performance. Anyway if you have made it this far, thanks for reading. submitted by /u/Salty-Enthusiasm-939 [link] [comments]

Recently I've seen people saying the n word is just a word which is crazy especially with what the meaning behind that word is and I'm not black so I personally can't speak much about it but even I know that you shouldn't say it and I know somewhat what the word meant. Can we stop with the trend with "it's just a __" when an idol do something offensive? submitted by /u/hearts4him_ [link] [comments]
i am actually a new elf who became fan this year because my cousins are elfs and i got very interested in learning about sungmin's case from them. if you don't know about sungmin's situation, in 2014 he got married and there was a lot of drama about that from fans and then he decided to not join comeback for black suit when he come back from military because fans threaten to not support the album. but then he has been on hiatus since then. he had a solo album and but then debuted again as a trot singer and so far he looks hes doing okay. in april sungmin left sm entertainment for trot career to a trot company for trot activities and i was happy for him. i thought that meant he officially left super junior and i was happy because everything happening to him was very unfair and his last comeback with suju was more than 10 years ago. however this reveals that he is still signed onto super junior even though he left sm. donghae eunhyuk and kyuhyun also left sm for solo activities but they are signed onto sm for group. it looks like sungmin has also done the same. why would sungmin stay signed onto sm even though he knows by now he won't come back to super junior, i don't hate him i love his music lots of times. but he missed the comeback for suju 20th anniversary and it looks like he will never return. what is keeping him at sm when he has no group activities submitted by /u/parrotbiscuits [link] [comments]

The second and third most upvoted idols will be given honourable mentions in the post. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th: 🥇Momo (TWICE) - 23 upvotes 🥈Yuna (ITZY) - 19 upvotes 🥉Taeyeon (SNSD) & Kazuha (LE SSERAFIM) - 9 upvotes submitted by /u/ConnectionOk8413 [link] [comments]

Personally there are two moments that always make me laugh it involves Blackpink and Itzy: Blackpink: the flinch test, when they suppose to not flinch I love the opposite reactions of Jennie and Jisoo : - Jennie -> almost got a hurt attack - Jisoo -> barely reacted 😂 Itzy : when they got a cat coming around and the cat pee on the mic and their clothes I so love their reactions: - All the members aren't upset at all and just laugh - Yeji the leader laugh and just say with a smile "the cat pee on Itzy" - Ryujin my fav, singing "the cat pee on the mic" 😂 submitted by /u/Cestlavieenrose999 [link] [comments]

whats one thing that an idol has done and was burried by the fans or forgotten or just was done a long time ago and people has forgotten but you can't like the idol that has done it anymore ill give out two examples without naming names but iykyk , the first one was my bias in my ult group but I discovered a song that he wrote and performed that has absive and volent lyrics with provocative choreo and since then I don't like him and don't vibe with him anymore , the second one is the soloist that wrote a s*xual song involving a child and had inappropriate illustration in the album cover and the fans said that they were talking about their struggles but when they apologized they literally said I am sorry , didn't say anything about the song being abt themselves. these are two instances that come up to my mind of idols that I can't bring myself to like . submitted by /u/howeveritsloona [link] [comments]
Verivery fans please read this! This is a cry for help! Spoiler about Boys 2 Planet next: Dongheon(the leader of Verivery) just got eliminated(only just though), and I’ve heard a lot of Verrer’s discuss not voting for both Kangmin and Gyehyun to not separate the group. While I somewhat agree, it was the choice of the members to go on the show, and we should support the members in whatever route they choose(by voting for them, or at least not refraining from voting for them solely for the reason of keeping them ‘together‘). Additionally, Kangmin currently ranks at 7th overall, while Gyeheon remains 40th(out of 48) in the current ranking. If we as stans continue this, Kangmin will definitely have to suffer another loss in the next episode. Kangmin’s debut in this group is all but confirmed, and it would be lonelier and harder for him(as well as the other members of Verivery) if he were to debut alone, instead of with Gyeheon. While the debut of two members could cause a lull in group activity, it could ultimately bring a lot of positive effects for the entirety of the group, as demonstrated by other situations(prime example being Minhyun). For example, two members of Verivery active in an extremely successful and famous group(to the degree of Zerobaseone) will bring a lot of attention towards the group, likely expanding the fanbase. There is a high chance that this will also lengthen the contract lifespan of the group and prevent disbanding, as the company will definitely see an advantage in keeping the group. This might also increase group activity, resulting in more albums and content to spur the new boys2planet group’s fans attention. Lastly, it will also bring more attention to their potential solo careers, later along the line. Some fans may still feel as if voting for both will be separating them, but I believe that not voting for either of them for that reason is the same as forcefully separating them from both each other, and their hopes and dreams to be in this new boy group. While I cannot force anyone to do anything I urge everyone to vote for them. I know that most other fans will know this, but all three of the members are amazing and showcase their talent and personality perfectly in boys2planet, as they do in any performance ^^ I urge everyone to vote, if not for the members themselves, then for the future of the group. Thank you so much! Please excuse me for any mistakes I have made because English is just not my first language. Also, this is my first time using the spoiler tag so please tell me how to fix it if it doesn’t work. submitted by /u/GetKarma-ed101 [link] [comments]
