[prefacing this by saying i haven’t been as much of a fan of anything else as i have of kpop] i’ve been realising how different the kpop industry is from what other musicians in other countries / genres do and i feel like it’s what maintains this strong sense of community for fans. for one, and the most obvious, kpop albums aren’t just cds or records with a cover sleeve. i haven’t been able to explain to non-kpop fans why we all collect albums (when we don’t use the cd or meticulously display each album), but it’s mostly due to the fact that we get all these cute bits and pieces like posters, photocards, a photobook and other related inclusions. some may argue it’s encouraging consumerism, others might say it’s worth it if it makes us happy. i’m just noticing it’s different and connects kpop fans to what it’s like to truly enjoy something (i can’t explain it, just the feeling of being excited about unboxing something and supporting your idols). comeback promotions — music shows, reality tv, fansigns, dance collaborations [yes i’m aware musicians in the u.s. and u.k. also promote their music through ads, billboards, interviews, etc.] the concept of the weekly music award shows are so fun where fans get multiple recordings of performances with different outfits, stage concepts and ending fairy poses for a group’s new song/s. also the little dance collabs with other kpop artists after said performances is so wholesome and it’s always exciting to see interactions between some of your favourite groups, especially those that you least expect. getting to meet your idols, have your albums signed by them and having the opportunity to ask about the project is such a great way to engage your audience with your music but also give thanks and appreciate those who support you. lightsticks self explanatory, just adorable. it’s like a sort of identification card also to bring your lightstick somewhere and let people know who you support. fansites good and bad. taking photos of a celebrity at events / in public is common however with kpop this has somehow become a career for people. while i think fansite behaviour can be a bit creepy and concerning, we do get extremely beautiful photos of kpop idols from it. if there’s anything else i’ve missed feel free to drop it off here but essentially just an appreciation post for the kpop fan experience because i don’t know of any other feeling as of late that has been better than collecting kpop merch, staying up late for comebacks / music video releases, going crazy over photos or livestreams, panicking about concert tickets or fansign lottery processes submitted by /u/seigfried0401 [link] [comments]
As the title states, currently the top two songs in GLOBAL Spotify had Teddy in the credits. Looking back he has had made kpop HITS for almost 3 decades now and reaching higher success right now with other groups in his label as well. He started his career 1998, had a major hit (definitely one the first kpop song I heard) with bigbang debut and all of 2NE1 discography, and then a bigger global level in blackpink and now with the kpop demon hunter movie soundtrack. Curious has any other producer gotten this sort of longevity in the business. Like its not even just international, his groups are killing it in domestic chart as well. In some way he seems like to be the only producer who knows what music audiences in different level, ages and places want. submitted by /u/EffectiveBit417 [link] [comments]
She’s soaked, stunning, and unstoppable on that stage. That hair flip, those moves—unreal. ▶ Watch the short submitted by /u/Right-Gur-8132 [link] [comments]
I was listening to the new ifeye release, and they do a bunch of name dropping in their lyrics because it sounds like "if I", and I love stuff like that. TWICE does it plenty, it's pretty easy to do with that name, and I love love when WOOAH does it. Are there any other groups that do this kinda thing? I'm sure IVE could, but I don't think i listen to enough IVE to know if they actually do submitted by /u/WhoaShenanigans [link] [comments]
I preface this by saying that my ult group is Billlie, and both groups are under Mystic Story, so i withheld my comments for the most part on the first couple releases because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me wanted them to be great for the sake of being the "younger brothers" of my ults. They just released an EP today called HOPE, and once again, every song on it is straight gas 🔥 I loved every song they'd released before it, but i really was trying to temper my expectations and my biases, but damn... they haven't missed at all in my book, not once. If you haven't listened to any ARrC, please go check some of their songs out, the quality is qualitying 🤌 submitted by /u/WhoaShenanigans [link] [comments]

Unpopular opinion I think…I LOVE the weekly favorite visual posts on the sub but sorry if this is repetitive will delete if you guys tell me I promise :) Anyways since I was a kid I LOVED fairys/faes its my hyperfixation my favorite creature EVER like it was my birthday theme for 9 years straight not even joking. So anyways my question is which idol radiates fairy/faerie vibes like is straight up ethereal something ethereal its breathtaking and you can just say they are a pretty fairy/faerie how ever you classify im not going to talk about the history or fairys vs faes and all that stuff we will be here for years but anyways if you want give your best picture that represents it and something even more fun give them fairy/fae names( hope that isnt bad im not aiming to change or disrespect their name just a fun little thing to do )SO EXCITING .:) Mine is mai from izna which gave me the inspo to post this .shes so pretty her fairy name would be maieina not changing her name but adding a fairy touch:) submitted by /u/Ambitious_Leg_734 [link] [comments]
lately the talk has been about snark subs and i wanna say something too. this is my opinion, sure, but honestly, it shouldn’t even have to be said. it should just be the standard. I get the original idea behind them. sometimes things are cringey or overhyped and people want a space to talk freely. cool, whatever. but somewhere along the way, it stopped being about criticism and just turned into straight up hate. like body shaming, slut shaming, ED jokes, dragging people’s faces, energy for literally existing… y’all okay? not trying to be dramatic but some posts actually make me feel sick. and it’s not just one sub anymore. i’m starting to see more and more places slip into that same vibe. and the weirdest part is how personal people make it, like these idols hurt them directly or something. they don’t know you. they’re not thinking about you. they’re living their lives. and you’re sitting there writing essays about how much you hate them? kinda embarrassing honestly. like yeah, there are artists i don’t like either. not everyone’s my vibe. but i don’t make it my whole personality. i just keep scrolling. it’s not that deep. obviously, if someone’s done something actually bad, i get the criticism. but hating someone because they’re popular or wear a certain outfit or smile a certain way? please be serious. none of this is helping anyone. it’s not even fun to read anymore. it just feels… heavy. weird. sad. and a little too parasocial from the other side. maybe go outside. touch some grass. pick up a hobby. support artists you actually like. because this constant cycle of hate? yeah. not it. submitted by /u/Traditional_Rain9724 [link] [comments]

Or, which companies have had the largest number of trainees make it to the debuting group of the Produce/Planet survival shows? Which idols came from the same company? Boys II Planet is airing tomorrow, so I thought I'd post this before it changes in a few weeks!! + I added some data comparing this list to companies sending trainees to Boys II Planet :) Please note: Some of these companies now go by different names, have moved, or no longer exist. The names used below are what was used during the airing of each show, but companies that changed names between shows are still grouped together. Like, a huge portion of these idols are now under different companies, this is not a source of where they are now. They're listed with the company they were under when they participated on their shows. This is just for fun and for the sake of simple (and hopefully interesting) data. Obviously, in no way is this an accurate measure for how successful companies are in general (especially considering rigging happened during Produce... but with that being said, higher ranked companies doesn't necessarily mean companies that rigged more votes) There's a high likelihood of mistakes being present, please don't hesitate to correct me if needed! Entertainment companies listed alphabetically if tied, trainees listed in chronological order of the show they were on -> their final ranking 1. Yuehua Entertainment - 6 trainees Choi Yena (Iz*One) - P04 Cho Seungyoun (X1) - P05 Zhang Hao (Zerobaseone) - P01 Ricky (Zerobaseone) - P04 Kim Gyuvin (Zerobaseone) - P07 Han Yujin (Zerobaseone) - P09 2. I love designing things for people so I’ve decided to make some custom lock screens of idols for fellow stans (they will be free)! If you want one, comment with your style and favorite colors and any additional details you want to add. Then reply to yours comment with up to 4 pictures you want me to use. I will dm you to let you know it’s in the making and then again with the finished product! Attached is a very simple example of ENHYPEN in my style! submitted by /u/Fantastic-Display-26 [link] [comments]
I listened to a debut track that felt super earnest and emotional — almost cinematic. Made me wonder if this emotional route works or feels forced for rookies. Thoughts? Cuz I’ve seen a few groups debut lately with concepts leaning more into ballad/rock, very 'sentimental' type vibes — not the usual EDM or dance-heavy stuff. Is that too niche to stand out in 2025? submitted by /u/CitySquare132 [link] [comments]

AKMU is not a "traditional" kpop group, some argue that they aren't kpop at all ( Don't wanna get into all that ). Sibling duo of musical prodigies Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun who became a household name in South Korea, still are. Honestly they have so many great songs, Lee Suhyun is one of my favourite voices kpop or otherwise. submitted by /u/DiMpLe_dolL003 [link] [comments]
Since I followed Jpop last year, it's a shock to me that most rookie idols have businesses. And I'm not talking about the nugu ones that have no choice but to do side hustles---I'm talking about rich kid idols with a decent amount of popularity and fans. They even actively promoting it on their Instagram accounts. I mean, how can they have time for their business while promoting as an idol, and is also a shock that their company allowed them to do it. Too much freedom... and I wish Kpop idols could do this too. submitted by /u/Miserable_Seat_9226 [link] [comments]
