1.845. What happened to Psy nowadays and what is he up to?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Psy was my very first introduction to Kpop. it was around 2013 I think. I was into Cpop and Jpop and then made the switch to Kpop after Gangnam style was released. Then I went on to love red velvet, blackpink, bts, new jeans etc. Back then, everyone in school was loving his youtube vid and all the kids were hopping around in the hallways doing the Gangnam style dance. Just a few days ago my friend brought up Psy and called him a 'one hit wonder'. Was he realli that? Coz I saw he had other a few other fun songs too after gangnam style. I can't quite remember the names but I think Gentleman and Daddy. Then I kind of thought about what happened to him afterwards? is he doing songs anymore or is he retired now? submitted by /u/cbc_tiffany [link] [comments]

1.846. is there a reason why kpop groups make japanese songs / promote in japan?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i always wondered why kpop groups, especially ones with no japanese members, would promote in a language and country they don’t have much affiliation with. just out of curiosity, is there a relationship between the korean and japanese music industry where kpop groups have to make japanese content as well? is the the same as promoting anywhere overseas for more success? if they can promote in japanese and english, why not other languages and countries as well? why japanese specifically? submitted by /u/dearapri1 [link] [comments]

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

on X/tiktok seems like hating is a trend?? I listened to tripleS so much I literally have them as my most listened group every single months. But stanning one group does not mean hating on other groups music, like they want to force themselves to believe that only their ult group is making good music. I mean imagine misses out on these dope songs like Are You Alive - tripleS, Drop Top - MEOVV, The Chase - H2H, Bet you'll Regret It - Baby DONT Cry heck even Famous - Allday Project?? I can list a whole lot more songs btw...ILLIT, BM, RESCENE, QWER~ submitted by /u/Sure_Analyst9370 [link] [comments]

Breaking the silence... so TW Some idols actually like being cute . Omg yes I said it... some idols like being called cute and like doing cute things. Not all of them are being forced or doing it for clout. I just had an idol beg ppl to call him cute on bubble (multiple times). That's it. Lol it's not serious but some people get offended when idols actually cute? Like you've never acted cute in your whole life? I've gotten free drinks from that I enjoy it lol. submitted by /u/SwimIcy9877 [link] [comments]

1.857. Could you tell me what the makeup of the second generation of K-pop was like?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

After a question I asked here on reddit I realized thanks to some people who have been listening to K-pop for a longer time, I discovered that I tend to listen to more music from the second generation of K-pop (unconsciously) since I should listen more to music from the fourth and fifth generation, but I got used to listening to the third and especially the second generation of K-pop, since I "identified" a lot with that generation not only because of their music but also because of their makeup (I love their makeup GOD!) and I would like to know more about that makeup and its trends at that time (Since TikTok and YouTube didn't help much) and I would also like to know the steps of that makeup to adapt it for myself and if you can some reference photos of the female and male artists of that time (I would also like to know about the makeup of the men of that time since there is little information) and I would like to know your makeup steps for the male idols of that generation, I would really appreciate it if you could give me that information. submitted by /u/Legitimate_Photo_867 [link] [comments]

1.859. How does Honey (KARA) have amazing English lyrics, but Pretty Girl (KARA) has such bad English lyrics when they're on the same EP?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Nicole's rap verse in Honey is in perfect English and it sounds so good! It flows so well and it sounds so natural. Probably the best English verse I've ever heard in 2010s. But then...on the same EP, Pretty Girl has English lyrics like "If you want to pretty, Every wanna pretty" They're on the same EP and have the same lyrics writers! What happened? I just don't get it 😭. Did Nicole write the lyrics in Honey but not Pretty Girl? I don't think she's listed on the lyrics. Listen to both songs if you haven't heard them btw, they're both amazing 👀. submitted by /u/GayEgyptianTwink [link] [comments]

1.860. I started listening to kpop again after three years of not listening to it at all.

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I made a post about three years ago about how there were some kpop stans (that I used to be friends with irl) that pushed me away from kpop because they were being really territorial and toxic about it. The whole post sort of revolved around stans, toxicity, and parasocial relationships. Looking back, they were definitely also racist 😭 I'm South Asian, and they would constantly blow me off to hang out with East Asian people or value their media much more compared to when I did the same thing (saying sushi is better than Indian food or that Bollywood is boring compared to anime and kpop, for instance). ANYWAYS, because of that I took a huge break from kpop. I didn't listen to ANY kpop songs for that period of time. Not one. I heard Cupid in passing and some NewJeans songs sometimes, but not because I chose to. I completely cut off that part of my life. It was easy because of how those ex-friends treated me, but also because of how idols/fandoms treat Indian people in general, too. The rampant racism and colorism in the industry as well as the people that follow it started to make me feel unwelcome. There were points where I wished I wasn't Indian because it would make it easier to be a fan, in a way. The amount of idols that were my faves that danced to the curry song recently, for instance, made the break much easier to do. When being around these kpop stans irl and absorbing the media, it almost perpetuated that I "wasn't Asian enough". I know it's not true, but it was definitely weighing on me. I've graduated college now and I'm doing some reflection on who I was in middle school, in high school, and now as an adult in the world. I started listening to kpop again. It felt like a tunnel to a past life. There were definitely a lot of emotions. I rediscovered songs I loved: I also realized I was definitely liking songs that I didn't actually like for the sake of supporting a group haha. And that's okay! Honestly, the songs don't hit as much as they used to. I only listen to some BTS songs now, when past me would know and love every single song and have entire albums memorized. I remember watching Run BTS constantly, but I just don't have that interest anymore. It almost makes me anxious to go back into it somehow. Some TWICE songs are good, but I don't listen to all of them. Stray Kids had some bangers! But I didn't listen to any of their newer stuff. Just older ones, for nostalgia and to ease myself into it. While it was fun to rediscover, I felt some weird emotions. My heart almost feels heavy, in a way. I don't really know if I SHOULD get back into it. BTS just announced they would do a world tour. A part of me wants to go, to feel what I did when I went to Permission to Dance in 2021... another part of me wants to leave it behind. I don't have biases anymore. The members don't take over my mind like they used to. I don't feel a need to constantly be supporting them, but I'm also almost nervous to go back there. Is it even worth it? I don't know. I feel pretty conflicted. I feel sad and nostalgic all at once hearing kpop again. I watched kpop demon hunters and I was WATERWORKS during the songs lol. I definitely need to unpack that too 😀 But wow, I feel SO so weird. If y'all have any thoughts, please let me know!! And if any of y'all feel the same, also comment about it! I've never felt so weird about media in my life lol TLDR: I've listened to kpop again after a long time. I left it behind partly because of toxicity with ex-friends and parasocial relationships and partly because of racism. Both situations made me feel unwelcome. I listened to kpop again now for the first time in a while and I feel anxious and conflicted about whether I should get back into it at all. It brings back a lot of emotions I don't know how to deal with. submitted by /u/tiredofthisBS123 [link] [comments]
