Hello everyone! We are excited to do another retrospective year-in-review rate, finally wrapping up the 2020s with the "2022 In K-Pop" Rate! If you choose to do so, you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist Apple Music playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: aespa - Illusion: 3.2 "You're so yummy yummy yummy in my tummy tummy tummy" Okay but what if I'm not into vore This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: Link to Reddit Chat to send in scores As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/kpoprates_ghost. Google Docs ballot template Pastebin ballot template If the private message link is not working (or your private message exceeds the character count), please use the Google Doc template (make a copy of it to your Google Drive) for your ballot and DM it to u/kpoprates_ghost. If you message us a link to your Google Doc, PLEASE double check your permissions so that "anyone who has the link can view the document" (since the default is otherwise). Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to all of the rate hosts, @pollutedrain (u/pollutedrain), @solsys (u/RBSun), and @Zypker124 (u/Zypker125) (please message all of the rate hosts, not just one). There is also a Google Sheets Spreadsheet Template that you can make a copy of to calculate the averages of your scores. You can also submit the top/bottom 5 prediction form at any time (ie. even without submitting your ballot!). KIOF's agency, S2, recently announced that they are pursuing legal action against people creating deep fakes of Natty and posting them to porn sites, and against those responsible for leaking CCTV footage of Julie in a room with 2 guys. Now, I don't keep up with the group anymore, the April live did a number on me, so I decided to take a break from them for a while. However, the news still came across my feed, and naturally I was disgusted at what I read. This is a normal reaction. What's not a normal reaction is saying anything along the lines of "they deserve it" Blew my mind, really. In no world is being a victim of a sexual crime and having your privacy invaded in this way something that deserves to happen to a person. You will never find me excusing KIOF's racist acts, but if you seriously think that means they should have these disgusting things happen to them, you are a sick person. This behavior and way of thinking is deplorable. It's one thing to not always extend sympathy, but to actually laugh and think it's okay is insane. Normal backlash is expected. They dropped out of KCON LA and have lost a lot of hype and following. That's the consequences of their actions. Being the target of criminal activity is not a consequence. It's really easy to not support such a thing. I will even go as far as to say you are no better than them if you think this kind of thing is alright. It's fine to have a problem with what they did. I know I do. But to say they deserve this? Your hate for them is beyond their actions if you can't even set that aside and actually acknowledge how disgusting deep fakes, sexual harassment, invasions of privacy, and shut shaming is. No one deserves this. People have lost the plot. submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]

I love Seventeen and I feel like the hyung line is more popular! I mean Dino is amazing and really under appreciated but yeah. Also in stray kids - the hyung line is more popular right? What about other groups? Which lines are more popular? I mean I guess a middle line exists too lmao submitted by /u/Sea-Republic8892 [link] [comments]

There are an amazing number of kpop fans out there that spend a lot of time learning a dance with friends, dressing up, going somewhere cool and filming their favorite songs. This happens all over the world. Ukraine, Philippines, Thailand, South America, USA, ... When they post these videos on youtube, often there are very few views and comments. I am quite shocked at the high quality of videos that have < 200 views and < 3 comments. These wonderful people deserve praise and recognition. Sign in or create a youtube account. Search "Kpop cover dances", > 4 Minutes, newest first. Find the videos that are not getting much love. Watch them. Give an honest compliment. Be specific and sincere. Repeat weekly. Words are powerful and kind words can make someone's day. submitted by /u/Cramped-Grandpa-4792 [link] [comments]
Hey K-pop stans! I've been thinking about all the iconic songs out there that could get the full studio remake treatment by current groups. Like how aespa did "Dreams Come True" by SES - that's what I mean by a remake, not just a cover but an actual official studio version. What song would you pick? Just drop the original artist/song and which current group you think should tackle it! Could be legendary title tracks, underrated B-sides, or even wild cross-generation collaborations! submitted by /u/Funny-Recognition846 [link] [comments]
Their recent new groups, I feel like they’ve only pushed 1 member in the spotlight. Every time I see something about their groups, it’s only about 1 member or their “viral” moment/fancam. I don’t remember SM being like this with their older groups ? Like, their senior idols all held their weight and had a fair share of spotlight ? submitted by /u/Swimming_Mention2332 [link] [comments]

P01 - Lee Sangwon I mean there isn't really much to say, he was going to debut and I'm glad he did, solid dancer, great stage presence, vocals are pleasant. Definitely the face of the group. P02 - Zhou Anxin To be completely honest with you guys, l've never followed him throughout B2P so I really can't say much, he has a nice tone, seems like a great personality, definitely the visual in the group, he looks ethereal, but other than that there's not much else I can think of. I'll either have to watch clips or wait for debut, still, I’m happy. Р03 - He Xinlong Pretty happy with his rank, he's a really good dancer and rapper, nice deep voice, similar to Felix from Stray Kids. I think he has good visuals, although imo he does look way older than he is, I genuinely thought he was around maybe 25-29, but visuals don’t mean much to me as they do for most. Happy with the rank and debut. P04 - Kim Geonwoo Now personally I don't really have a set opinion on him, his deep voice is nice and he has good visual, vocals are okay, dance is good. All of the drama has made it confusing whether I should like him or not, but either way his debut was inevitable, even with all the fuss. I mean the K-center not debuting is a little crazy. I’m alright with the debut. P05 - Zhang Jiahao I will admit, I didn't follow him until Tambourine but after witnessing that masterpiece, he became one of my favs. Super glad he got the hype cause he is an amazing dancer, has that idol vibe that I think Yumeki lacked -(only brought up Meki cause of the Tambourine performance, both did great but you can see the difference between a ❕DANCER❕and a ✨DANCER✨- sorry for corny stars)- His vocals are alright, not the best but with time they will improve, other than that though, super happy about his debut. P06 - Lee Leo My reaction to his debut was very weird - like joy and confusion at the same time, genuinely don't think l've ever felt that combination of emotions this strong before. He obviously deserved to debut but ending up in P06 coming from PO3 is crazy, but I mean complaining about that is dumb since some underrated gems didn't even get past second vote 😭 Awesome vocals, great dance, nice stage presence, actually some decent rap flow, he'll be the ace imo. Happy with the debut. P07 - Chung Sanghyeon From here on out, my opinions get way more divisive in opposing opinions. To be 100% honest, I would have replaced him with either Donggyu or Kangmin. But giving it a few days, I'm not angry. I'm a little pleased, Donggyu now has the hype on him so he has more attention, Kangmin is going to participate in the comeback with Verivery, things worked out (half coping). He seems like a good maknae, that, I did think of from the start. Hearing his rap, he is obviously decent. I enjoy the tone, but other than that nothing much else to say unfortunately. I will continue to support him further into the future and my opinions will surely change, for the better most likely. Good with debut. P08 - Kim Junseo To begin, all I can really say is hearing his name for the P08 position broke my heart, whether or not this is important is up to you, but of course I really wanted Kangmin to debut. Junse, is the member who l'm more concerned about, not for the group but because I really know nothing about him. I didn't really focus on him when he was on the screen, all l've seen are his Sweet Venom and Whiplash performances, the former I thought was very mediocre (not great vocal, alright dancing) and Win-plash was filled with so many eye-catchers (other members) that it would personally be hard to focus on him even if I were to try. He is the oldest and most likely will be the leader, so l'm looking forward to his debut nonetheless, I hope that I can grow and learn to appreciate him more than I do now. Content with debut. Now, for those who I wanted to debut just incase you are curious: - Kangmin - Ronggyu - Lee Jeong (knew he wasn't going to but still had a little bit of hope lol) - Junmin - Woojin :D submitted by /u/djjohi [link] [comments]
There's been a lot of talk this year about idols not seeing last year's charting success, which they haven't (although I think people are being dramatic about it tbh, popularity ebbs and flows). However, there have been three girl groups I think have had excellent charting: Blackpink, IVE, and aespa. Regardless of everyone's personal opinions on the quality of the comebacks themselves, all three were pretty successful charting wise, with their comebacks spending multiple weeks in the top ten for Korean charts. I think what these groups have in common is that they have great individuality, especially compared to some of their peers who have had their solo promotion opportunities pushed later. IVE has it-girl duo Wonyoung + Yujin, and all the aespa and BP members are very popular on their own, even the least popular ones Giselle and Jisoo have seen great success individually. I wonder if having individual popularity helps improve a group's longevity since there are more opportunities to spread the group's brand through variety shows, magazine shoots, collabs, cfs, etc, so their name is out there more, rather than limited to only group appearances. If there's more solo interest gathered in the members, there could potentially be more people tuning into the comeback (although akgaes are a very annoying problem for aespa and BP). However, this isn't really a foolproof observation. IVE and aespa are coming on 4 and 5 years respectively, so it's too soon to say if they'll be able to keep this charting up until their first contracts and beyond, and BP is a special case in that they have a comeback once a moon, so there's always interest there. Although, Girls Generation is probably the group with the best individual recognition in Korea, and their last comeback for their fifteenth anniversary charted very well, so who knows, but again there was a five year gap since their last comeback. What do you guys think? Do you think having better solo promotion and individual recognition could help groups with longevity (specifically with charting), or do you think it's inconsequential? submitted by /u/Q-TipBrain [link] [comments]
I found this thread on Twitter that had F1ARE members as scandals it gave me a good laugh and made me realise as a newer K-pop fan I must have missed some wacky scandals. So what is that on ‘scandal’ that you are not over and still gives you a chuckle? submitted by /u/ARG_obesessed [link] [comments]
