I want to discuss a bit about whole billboard hot 100 thing and generally Billboard charts. I mad a comment under Ateez recent entry but I realised some things that are quite concerning. Firstly let me share with you some stats: There is apparently 109 K-pop songs that entered Billboard hot 100. Out of 109 songs 85 belongs to BTS, BlackPink members or their features with other artists. Which leaves us with 24 songs by artists such as: Wonder Girls - 1, PSY - 5, CL - 1, Baby shark - 1, Twice - 2, New Jeans - 5, Fifty fifty - 1, Stray Kids - 3, Le Sserafim - 2, Illit - 1, Ateez - 1, Katseye - 1. Out of all 109 songs 62 were on hot 100 only for 1 week. Which means that their entry to this chart were mainly because of album sales and partially streams. Only some of the songs (26 in total) of PSY, BTS, BlackPink, NewJeans, Fifty fifty and Baby shark were on hot 100 for 5 or more weeks. I'm talking about it all because K-pop groups more often then not show up on billboard 200, or album 100 ect. which shows that people like it, listen to it and buy it but radio stations don't really want to stream the songs. That's why they are dropping so quickly because everyone focuses on buying and streaming in the beginning and for K-pop to be more relevant in US and other countries t's essential to stream it on radio too but they don't want to do it. Now comes the conspiracy theory. Billboard has Hits of the world category. Where basically you can check different hot songs in different countries including very small ones. Now tell me why out of all this countries only South Korean charts are not visible? For some reason when I tried to check Korean songs there is error 404 page cannot be found. Interesting right? Considering that all the other countries all over the world I checked have their own stats updated. Korean billboard 100 stopped in 2022. Do you think Korea have some sort of beef with Billboard or maybe there was not enough US artists entering Korean charts so they decided to stop updating it? Seems kinda shady. Since BOYS II PLANET coming soon, I’ve been kinda curious about this. I barely have any real-life friends who are into K-pop, and when people find out I watch something like BOYS PLANET or PRODUCE 101, they tell me I’m weird, saying, “Why are you watching a show with 100 young dudes? Why not just watch the girl group seasons full of pretty girls?” Some even question my gender. 🤨🧐 Honestly, the boy seasons are way more entertaining to me. I feel like they’re more genuine, and it’s funnier — almost like a low-key variety show. The girl group seasons feel more serious. I mean, the boys are serious too, but they still mess around, way more chilling, do stupid stuff, and cause chaos, have so many characters — and it all feels so natural. But when they’re fighting or beefing, it’s way more intense and fun to watch. 😅 I watched PRODUCE 101 Season 2, PRODUCE X 101, I-LAND, BOYS PLANET, STARLIGHT BOYS, and PROJECT 7 and many other shows live while they were airing. (especially PD2, PDX, and BP, which I’ve rewatched more than three times, and still enjoy with it. ) These shows are like WWE, football, or the NBA — basically men’s sports for me. And the FINAL is literally the Super Bowl of K-POP. I live for it. I’ve also watched the girls seasons too ex. PRODUCE 101 (2016), PRODUCE 48, GIRLS PLANET 999, R U NEXT? and I-LAND2. But only once — they were kinda boring to me. 😭 I’ve noticed that most K-POP fanboys usually stan girl groups — watching anything with lots of beautiful girls dancing/Singing to cute or sexy concepts. But I actually stan boy groups more. I enjoy watching cool songs with powerful choreography. I know a lot of girl groups, but I barely listen to them. 90% of my K-POP playlist is filled with male artists ex. WOODZ, GOT7, WINNER, iKON, BIGBANG, ENHYPEN, ZB1, SHINee, DAY6, NU’EST, X1, WANNA ONE, MONSTA X, BTOB I wonder, is it common or not really that much? Are there any grown men who enjoy watching boy group survival shows and prefer male K-pop songs more? And what’s the reason? submitted by /u/M1NNER2 [link] [comments]
So, I been listening to Seventeen Thunder. But when I was looking at a short last night. When I was read a comment about S.coups part where he spells Thunder, the commenter said "it's more like T.H.E.U.D.E.R." Tell me why now, I hear T.H.E.U.T.E.R.? 🤦🏿♀️ When I didn’t before. 😅Please tell me I'm not the only one, this is weird and funny. I know some people miss hear SKZ lyrics but I never did. submitted by /u/LuckyTurn8913 [link] [comments]
Idek where to start I just had huge arguments with some of them and when I tell you these mfs are some of the most racist and ignorant ppl ive ever interacted with online😭 like it stings a little knowing we literally cousins and love a part of asian culture/music that is viewed as “weird” in the western world. “I don’t understand what they are singing” but then go on to stream anime opening songs in japanese😭 I don’t watch/love anime but I don’t go around being ignorant and racist. their superiority complex is crazy and the way they glaze japan and put down other asian countries is just plain weird. submitted by /u/cuntseok [link] [comments]

Gina is a Canadian-Korea singer songwriter and actress who achieved big commercial success she was one of the most popular soloists of the second generation of K-pop until in 2016 where she left agency (Cube Entertainment) due to her taking 35 million Korean W (25,785.54 United States Dollars) in exchange of "favors". Gina only admitted in a post that she accepted the money, as she was facing financial difficulties at the time which to the law it was her accept prostitution. She had gone on the blind date based on a recommendation from a friend, who essentially set her up. Unfortunately, the situation led to her being blacklisted by the Korean public. To make it clear obvious there are some different with the Gina and Haknyeon case, but I just wanted to mention those cases due to them falling into crime of prostitution in Korea. https://preview.redd.it/snx4hdcc7z8f1.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a00ef299e630ba57c7a4244477581d259fe78ff3 submitted by /u/wishaRECbutterfly [link] [comments]

Most K-pop fans are immensely dimwitted, incapable of reading basic information, incapable of personal hygiene, can’t handle the truth, are extremely anti-Asian. As an Asian American K-pop fan who has been to over 26 K-pop concerts the list can go on. submitted by /u/MissSoju [link] [comments]

i wanna start off by saying i have absolutely nothing against the girls personally. its jus so so painfully obvious that they have no desire to be a group anymore. at all. how are you letting groups younger than you have more songs, more albums, more comebacks? yes, there are some bp songs i enjoy but i would personally expect a lot more from the "best girl group ever". i think that yg/blackpink should stop trying to make them be a group because its embarrassing at this point. let them be what they clearly want: soloists. lisa and jennie are having the time of their lives, rose is basically an american singer at this point, and jisoo is focusing on acting. let them!!! i feel like the blinks that are pushing all of these group activities just can't let go of the past. if you compare debut bp to how they are now, its really clear that they lost their spark. seeing how jennie is on stage alone vs how she is when theyre together makes me laugh. this is definitely their last tour as a group and its such an obvious cash grab. at this point i forget theyre even in a group together. anytime i see concert vids theyre always just four soloists on stage "dancing" to a collab song, or at least thats what it looks like. i do think that its okay to grow out of being in a group and want to try out more things, but if you do, then go all the way. don't try to be a group, please. and the fans that are still pining for ot4 and hating on people who stan them as soloists need to get a grip. if you really were a fan, you would want whats best for the girls and would support them no matter what they do, not cling onto nostalgia. (sorry idk if this made any sense, but hopefully i don't come off as a hater because i'm not, i just don't think they should be a group anymore, not that they should stop performing.) submitted by /u/saythname [link] [comments]
