This might be an unpopular opinion, but I’ve been thinking about BTS’ upcoming comeback and wondering if it will actually meet the sky-high expectations. Yes, their fanbase is still huge and dedicated, so the first-day/week numbers will probably be impressive. But there are some factors that might hold them back from reaching the same heights as their peak era: Shifts in the industry – New groups have been dominating while BTS has been on hiatus. Trends in both K-pop and Western pop have also changed, and casual listeners might not engage the way they used to. Their endorsements and actions calling for boycott particularly V over coke endorsement. A number of fans have expressed disappointment, and some even said they’re leaving the fandom because of it. While ARMY is still strong, controversies like this can chip away at their global image and create friction within the fandom itself. Plus Hybe itself has been under fire recently (management issues, exploitation of artists, shady business practices), and because BTS is so tied to HYBE, any backlash directed at the company inevitably spills over onto them. For some people, supporting BTS now feels like supporting HYBE, which is a turn-off. I’m not saying the comeback will flop they’re too established for that. But it might not reach the same global takeover level of “Dynamite,” “Butter,” or “Permission to Dance.” Instead, it could end up being more of a fandom-driven success than a mainstream phenomenon. What do you think will BTS’ legacy and name power carry them to another record-breaking era, or will the changing industry and ongoing controversies hold them back? submitted by /u/switcharooo19 [link] [comments]

Day 47 Results: IZ*ONE wins by 21 votes! Vote for your favorite and as always poll closes in 24 hours! If you're unsure of who to vote for, here's a couple songs to help your decision: LADIES’ CODE - Galaxy LADIES’ CODE - Bad Girl LADIES’ CODE - So Wonderful 2NE1 - Come Back Home 2NE1 - Lonely 2NE1 - Can’t Nobody First Half Second Half Disclaimer: This tournament is not a “comparison”. The seeds were randomized and I didn’t pick the matchups. The songs picked are amongst their most popular because they’re easy to recognize. If you have another song suggestion you may leave it in the comments but please refrain from complaining about the song not being included. I also try to switch up the listed songs every new round, so the songs you might not know from a group might not be listed as they were listed the previous round. Either way, feel free to recommend them in the comments if you’d like. submitted by /u/PushOffTheGround [link] [comments]
