Since their conception in 2016, KARD has naturally acquired a foreign fanbase and IMO, their label was both unmotivated and ill prepared on how to capitalize on that. I completely understand that DSP/RBW doesn't have the same level of resources or connections as the bigger labels but to see Doechii, Latto, Megan the Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Flo Milli and even Ice Spice collaborating with K-pop and K-pop adjacent acts while KARD hasn't had even a Korean feature since debut is nuts. Not only is half the group fluent in English (though all 4 have a general understanding) but both their image and sound match so well with what's currently going on in the West... I know the phrase is overused but it does feel like a waste. They should have graced Latin America, UK, and US day time/variety shows years ago and "Tell My Momma" should have been promoted overseas (probably as a digital single instead becoming their worst selling EP in SK). Now, I don't believe that KARD should be marketed to the general K-public just because ADP is here. The momentum is gone and I just don't see a wide market for the group KARD has cemented themselves as in SK - but they should be monetizing and mobilizing them amongst the fans they are there. After 9 years together, they have never had a full length album, merchandise is limited, they only release 4-5 songs a year max, and they don't have a light stick despite touring every year since debut (minus 2020 - 2021 due to Covid). You'd think a global group like this would have more even amongst the rest of East Asia, becoming Festival staples but nope. They are also severely lacking branding and sponsorship but that's another conversation. At the very least, you'd think they'd be pushed on the Foreign friendly programing in Korea during their slower months. Right now, KARD is planning both their 2nd Korean and 3rd World Tour and it feels like there should be more noise ahead of all that. Whether it's a tour exclusive collab project (like Bad Bunny x reggaeton for South America, a Tyla x afrobeats for Europe) or Tiktoking like their lives depend on it (Katseye? F5VE?), I just wish they were promoted better. KARD been around for a long time and have been able to sustain themselves just on music too, it's never too late to pour more into 1 of the literal 2 groups in the company. submitted by /u/AvatarKorrang [link] [comments]
Who is the least normal member of the group(s) you stan? Asked cutely Recently started getting into Ateez, and my bias is clearly yunho, who i assumed as the most normal member. Guess I was wrong. Everyone just keeps saying that he is the least normal member. Makes me curious about other groups though submitted by /u/buttertaekoo [link] [comments]
i wasn't tuned it at allll to their survival show, and the 1st and only time i heard of them was when everyone was clowning on the name (i think the name is fine lolđ). but YT recommended their debut song 'Rendezvous' and i watched it, and WOW.....just wow. i cant even remember when a ***conventional BG debuted with something that actually made me have any sort of reaction beyond just "oh this song is okay" and "not my vibe but this song isnt bad". I ended up listening to the song on repeat and just getting all in my feelings bc it's such an emotional song lol. ***conventional as in not something completely different and rare, bc the other recent debut that impressed me was XLOV but they're farrr from conventional (love them sm) tbh ive been quite disappointed by recent BG debuts bc nothing has really stood out to me. these groups have the talent and the vibe and the looks for the most part, but personally none of them have evoked any real emotions from me - from excitement to sadness. so i had lowkey given up hope until a company actually decides to do something different or interesting with a freshly debuting BG. but woww AHOF exceeded every single expectation i had and Rendezvous might just be my new fav song atm. i didnt feel anything in particular from the other songs on their debut ep but that's okay bc i feel like they'll have a bright future. anyway, ik this was a bunch of yapping but i just wanted to share it bc i was personally starting to accept that no current debuts would suit my taste (which is totally okay bc music isnt made for jUst me lolđ but it was still disappointing) submitted by /u/Important-Zombie9331 [link] [comments]

I used to be their fan back in 2021-2022 but after the maxident era I started growing out of my âstayâ phase.I still look up to them as people who put a lot of hard work into their work and I do think they have good performing/singing skills but I just donât enjoy their music anymore. I hadnât really been into kpop eversince but looking at them now, thyâve really become huge in these 3 yrs..but iâm curious what everyone else thinks about them? Do you think their songs used to better too? submitted by /u/setahm [link] [comments]

This isn't directed at anything specific right now, but with the absolutely OUTRAGEOUS ticket prices lately, it's just something that's been eating at me. Why are so many K-pop fans okay with idols lipsynching through entire concerts, looking bored on stage, and marking the choreography instead of actually dancing? This has never been something fans should just accept, but especially now, when companies are getting more and more bold with pricing and charging over a hundred euros at minimum, you should be allowed to complain when the performance ends up being mediocre. But every time someone says, âHey uhm, my idols just lipsynched their way through the entire concert and that kind of upsets me,â the replies are always stuff like, âOh I donât really care about that,â or âTheyâre saving their vocals.â Saving them for what? A concert is exactly where an idol should be showing off their vocals. I get that idols already have it rough and theyâre allowed to be tired sometimes. Having an off day is one thing. But this is more about idols whoâve been so coddled by fans that they donât even try anymore. They dance half-heartedly, look bored the whole time, lipsynch everything with zero shame, and repeat it all the next day. And if you point it out, suddenly youâre a hater instead of a fan whoâs just rightfully upset. submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

I'm not a huge fan, but it does seem a bit strange to me that a company like Rigend Film, known for producing high-quality music videos, would start using AI. Of course, I still acknowledge that their use of VFX and directing is outstanding. However, AI is fundamentally built on unauthorized training from millions of videos, often in serious violation of copyright. I don't think it's right to include AI-generated content lacking any real human effort into K-pop music videos. No matter how impressive the result is, it can come across as lacking basic integrity. What do you think? Do you believe we should strongly criticize K-pop music video producers for using AI, or do you have a different perspective? submitted by /u/Nervous_Emu_2233 [link] [comments]

For those not in the know, fromis_9 recently made a comeback as a five membered group after leaving HYBE. Yesterday, they won on Music Bank and got their first win as five. Lesserafim and ILLIT all congratulated them onstage and Yunjin even hugged Chaeyoung. Around this morning, she left a message on her Weverse DMs that went: âI was truly, truly so happy that the fromis_9 unnies won 1st place, and I wanted to congratulate them in every way I could lol. I hope all girls do well. That they wonât lose their smiles and that theyâll continue to be able to cry like that too.â I don't think I've seen such a touching message in kpop from one idol to another group. I also never knew she had such a way with words. I'm sure if fromis read her messages, they'd be crying too. This new beginning is such a risk and I'm glad they took it together. And now they have their second most successful comeback to date. Yunjin also knows the struggles of being under Pledis so I'm pretty sure she can relate to them. submitted by /u/yebinkek [link] [comments]
