Ricky from zb1 is being announced as the new brand ambassador for urban decay and i really just want to talk about how impressive that is. That man got less than 5 mins of screen time on boys planet and managed to make FOURTH place. He has been prohibited from doing lives, tiktoks, hell even from using BUBBLE. And before yall try to say he doesn’t want to post etc, he is always talking about doing tiktok challenges that conveniently never get posted unless it’s comeback season. Let’s not even talk about him getting blurred in the official zb1 contents. Despite all of that he had one of the highest kpop fancam views on weibo last year, he is on his THIRD brand ambassadorship, and has made a name for himself among korea’s gp for his fashion sense. I know this sub likes to focus on him makeup(which like it’s makeup please get over yourself) and how they think his looks are overrated, but ignore your hate boner for him for one moment and just realize how impressive he truly is. If wakeone/mnet wasn’t so adamant on erasing someone who they never wanted in the group, imagine how much bigger he could have been. submitted by /u/nytvelevet [link] [comments]
For a sub thats supposed to be an uncensored place to share your honest thoughts and opinons, I didn't expect my post to be taken down. Basically I acknowledged nuance and mentioned that ILLIT might've been inspired by newjeans but not to the point that it could be considered plagiatism like MHJ is claiming. Suddenly all my replies were insinuating that I was attacking the members, despite me saying that MHJ was a weirdo and that ILLIT didn't deserve the hate. Why is it such a crime to acknowledge that two things can be true at once? submitted by /u/Educational-Taro3386 [link] [comments]
I check every Somi comeback cause I'm a casual listener, & my favorite title before this one being 'What You Waiting For'. I love the MV concept and what it's about and it was executed really well. Now for the song, the E X T R A hook works really well, that surprised me since chanting letter hooks are always a gamble. The way she sings "Gimme more gimme more 너만 왜 언제나 주인공 in the end" Scratches an itch in my brain SO WELL???? I know one criticism people gave the song is that it never went anywhere, that it kept the same tempo the whole duration but that's what I like about it? It felt like a change and a new sound/direction I'm welcoming from her and if her upcoming album is like this I'll eat it up!. Also "Tried to give my hunnit (100) to you, but you want that I.O.I (101)" is genius. I love playful double meaning lyrics like this! submitted by /u/Dilemma_stress [link] [comments]

Rules: 1. each one has to be a different gen, precisely the one that’s above it or it restarts. Ex… if you pick 3rd gen the first day then the second day has to be 4th gen and after that it can be whatever other gen besides another 4th the day after, if it’s 5th gen the first day then it resets to 3rd gen!! It’s long but it’s simple. Also there can be the same group multiple times just not above 3 times… Lastly the group member MUST be 3rd gen or above or else I will not even look at it, the idol with the most comments I’ll pick. if its a tie I’ll put both but if its a 3 way or more tie then I’ll decide!! 3 simple rules is all… this is my first time doing one of these so I hope it doesn’t get taken down!! Also don’t mind the fonts, I did it in CapCut, today we must have 3rd or 5th gen, I will see who doesn’t care to read descriptions guys…. no matter how many times you say a 4th gen I’ll just skip it… follow the rules submitted by /u/Happy-Flight-4810 [link] [comments]
The idol industry is rampant with mental health issues, constant injuries, exhaustion, and burn out - and we don’t talk enough about how all of this relates to the extreme diets they’re pressured into. It’s blatantly dangerous and reckless to be pushing people to these physical extremes while they are deprived of proper nutrition and food. A lot of these idols are very young and have teenage metabolisms, but you cannot maintain the physiques they have without a severe calorie deficit. What do severe calorie deficits do over time? They cause both physical and mental health issues. Nutrient deficiencies, muscle loss, hormonal imbalances, decreased bone density, etc. And we see this with all these idol groups. And the craziest part is, misogynistic media constantly blames the women in this industry for the symptoms of their diets. If a woman cries while talking about the struggles of her daily routine, she’s being too sensitive and ungrateful. No one considers that being constantly hungry and underweight is going to make every physical activity more exhausting, and your emotional responses much stronger. If a woman cannot keep up with vigorous choreography during a concert, she’s lazy and out of shape. Once again, no one considers how the body image expectations imposed on touring idols might impact their fitness. If a woman has a major injury or health problem, it’s met with skepticism. Taylor Swift, for example, had to gain weight and put on muscle for her eras tour in order to get through it. You need muscle mass to keep up with these routines. Actual muscle mass - not just abdominal muscles that are particularly pronounced because of a lack of body fat. Bodies are all different, and surely, there are idols who are naturally on the thinner side and able to live healthy lives at a very thin weight. But as a general rule? It’s genuinely insane to expect these types of bodies from people with their daily lives and schedules. The dieting is particularly insidious because it’s also a means of control. Malnourished young people are easier to control and exploit. This is just a fact. The dieting truly is the common denominator. submitted by /u/Sensitive_Yard1260 [link] [comments]

Let me preface this by saying I’ve experienced firsthand what it’s like to be a toxic K-pop stan. This opinion comes from years of engaging in slandering and online pile-ons within stan spaces. It’s not meant as an attack or a way to place blame, but rather an attempt to open up space for understanding why this kind of behavior happens in the first place. I’ll go first. I think having a base made up mostly of teenagers going through a difficult and emotionally intense stage of life is already a perfect recipe for an explosive fanbase. It’s a time when people are still figuring out who they are, dealing with insecurity, pressure, and a lot of emotional ups and downs. A lot of that frustration and sadness can end up being projected outward as anger, often directed at the idols themselves, who might retroactively make fans feel worse about who they are or what they lack. To that, I’d add that these fans often find community in small, tight-knit corners of the internet. And while that can be comforting, the already-existing toxicity in online spaces tends to get amplified. It creates an environment where defensiveness, obsession, and hostility aren’t just normal, they’re expected. K-pop thrives on the illusion of intimacy. Idols are made to feel like close friends or partners through fan service and constant online presence, which blurs boundaries and fuels emotional dependence. That makes fans more possessive, reactive, and volatile when they feel slighted. A second theory I’d add is that a lot of this behavior feels learned, or even copied, from K-netizens. For years, Korean online communities have set the tone with obsessive, hypercritical, and often hostile behavior toward idols. That kind of discourse got normalized across global fanbases, and in some ways, international fans ended up mimicking that same energy as if it were just part of how you do K-pop fandom. What is your take? I’m curious to hear:) submitted by /u/xxxerg [link] [comments]
I’ve personally been more drawn to GG music since around 2016. Maybe it’s just my own taste, but I’ve always felt that GGs tend to offer more variety both musically and conceptually. There’s a range that feels broader and more refreshing compared to what I typically hear from BGs (that's just how it feels to me; I'm aware reality might be different). For those who feel the same, what is it that draws you more toward GG music than BG music? Is it the sound, the concepts, the vocals, or something else entirely? submitted by /u/Organic-Cranberry955 [link] [comments]
Something that really draws me to an idol is if they have a unique singing voice and I thought this would be fun. We can see if have similar opinions aswell ☺️ submitted by /u/DdeonghwaDib [link] [comments]
