Post taken down due to being an extremely unpopular opinon, not because it broke the sub rules

For a sub thats supposed to be an uncensored place to share your honest thoughts and opinons, I didn't expect my post to be taken down. Basically I acknowledged nuance and mentioned that ILLIT might've been inspired by newjeans but not to the point that it could be considered plagiatism like MHJ is claiming. Suddenly all my replies were insinuating that I was attacking the members, despite me saying that MHJ was a weirdo and that ILLIT didn't deserve the hate. Why is it such a crime to acknowledge that two things can be true at once? submitted by /u/Educational-Taro3386 [link] [comments]

4.512. Is IVE being ignored by Kpop Demon Hunters Versus are stans overreacting?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

There has been a lot of discourse from IVE fans calling out KPOP Demon Hunters for not crediting or acknowledging IVE for being used heavily as a reference. Not only are the songs Golden and I Am quite similar but the song’s visual sequences in the movie seem to take heavy references from the I Am and Love Dive music videos as well (lots of similiar shots and imagery relating to airplanes, dancing on airplanes, riding in a flying car, billboards, the catwalk, and more). Because there are so many similarities, people have been been making IVE x KDH edits and mashups from day one points to note: -some think it’s unnecessary to give credit because Huntrix is not a real group \ -some have accused IVE of being clout chasers for making a tiktok/short covering Golden with I Am’s choreo instead of with Golden’s choreo (since day one, a ton of people have been covering Golden with I Am’s choreo because of the similarities)\ -some people don’t see any similarities at all in the songs or music videos or think they are too common to be acknowledged \ -Director Maggie Kang has allegedly been very active on social media talking about inspirations and has been frequently interacting with and shouting out many groups that have talked about the movie or covered the songs. Meanwhile IVE members have also mentioned the movie multiple times and have also covered Golden and Soda Pop\ -Many popular groups like BP, Twice, Itzy, BTS, Stray Kids, Monsta X, Ateez, etc have been cited as influences \ -some IVE fans have started attacking/shading Maggie Kang and the movie on social media\ -some are calling it plagiarism (maybe as a joke but idk) personally, i won’t go as far as to say it’s plagiarism. it’s supposedly a mishmash of a lot of different things. but as an IVE fan i kinda do think that A LOT of the references are from IVE? At least enough similarities for an acknowledgement or mention from the creators right? I AM was a pivotal era that brought a lot of success but also a lot of tears and struggles for IVE (Rei went on hiatus, wonyoung got multiple stitches from injuries while filming the music video, multiple members have talked about what a difficult time it was, etc). it would be nice for them and their team’s artistry and hardwork be acknowledged by the people who are currently seeing such incredible success from it. I think it also would calm down a lot of Dives who feel so strongly about it. HOWEVER i also think some fans are overstepping by cyberbullying the creators because of it. thoughts? do you think IVE is being blatantly ignored? should they be acknowledged? or do you think fans are overreacting? and is it parasocial to care about how art is referenced? submitted by /u/yj_12345678 [link] [comments]

4.513. I think I’ve been sleeping on ATEEZ, and now I regret it big time.

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Okay, confession time: I always knew ATEEZ was impressive, especially considering they’re from a smaller company, but I never really bothered to checked out their full discography. My first introduction to them was through Guerilla, and honestly, I didn’t love it (I still don't), so I kind of just left it at that. Then the Golden Hour trilogy happened, and wow, I am hooked. The title tracks from that era have been on repeat for weeks, and it finally pushed me to dive deeper into their music. And honestly, I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on them this whole time. I regret not paying attention sooner, especially since they’ve had concerts in my country recently, and I missed the chance to see them live. 😬 Some of my faves now are: Cyberpunk, Answer, Treasure, (the entire Golden Hour trilogy, obviously), HALAZIA, and Dancing with Butterfly Wings. And the thing is, I heard snippets from HALAZIA ages ago, but I wasn’t really impressed by it. Now, I can’t stop listening to it. The choreo keeps you glued to the screen as well, by the way. Long story short: don’t write off groups after only listening to a handful of their songs. You might miss out big time. submitted by /u/o-Themis-o [link] [comments]

4.514. Opinions on the new group (global?) Cosmosy ?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hi ! I discovered cosmosy like most people thanks to their performance of Lucky=one with the albino elf concept, and frankly, I quite like them. I loved the styling, but also the celtic elements in the sound, and most of all, De_Hana's voice (I think that is the element that had me on a chokehold). So I look them up, and found ziggy=ziggy, which I think I like but found quite disturbing at some moments, but I like the risk taking aspect and I love a good dark concept. For fun, I tracked every couple of days their monthly listeners and stream count, and they had such an amazing growth for one of the least known group ive followed since the beginning. Lucky=one just pushed them to small fame, maybe not incredible, but satisfying for a japanese group that hasnt exactly defined their concept or even their identity (début had japanese, English and Korean, Lucky one was entirely English and last release majorly in korean) and that comes from an unknown company. That performance did go to some extent viral, and I am so proud of them. They released today a new song "BabyDontCry=BreakingTheLove" (interesting way of naming songs I guess...). I think I prefer the first half of the song to the second half, but this is very experimental, and I am excited to hear more of their musical projects. Two things is undeniable : they can SING and have really good sp (Himesha has something in her eyes that is hypnotising). Check them out and give me your opinion ! I'll link some mv/performance. Enjoy ! 4.518. Min Heejins side argues in court that ILLIT taking pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower and uploading them is plagiarism... we have officially lost the plot

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The defendant even cited the use of COEX outdoor billboards as evidence of copying. They also claimed that personal photos taken by members in front of the Eiffel Tower and uploaded to SNS were proof of copying. They argued that a group photo of five members standing in a straight line was evidence of plagiarism. None of these can be considered the defendant's exclusive property." They added, "If we follow the defendant's logic, even NewJeans' concept photos could be dismissed as mere copies of someone else's work, a regrettable conclusion." Yes, you read that right. Plagiarism. Of a tourist landmark. In Paris. What’s next, having the same hair colour is plagiarism? Oh, wait... submitted by /u/thebarted [link] [comments]

4.520. Ricky from ZB1 is genuinely so impressive

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Ricky from zb1 is being announced as the new brand ambassador for urban decay and i really just want to talk about how impressive that is. That man got less than 5 mins of screen time on boys planet and managed to make FOURTH place. He has been prohibited from doing lives, tiktoks, hell even from using BUBBLE. And before yall try to say he doesn’t want to post etc, he is always talking about doing tiktok challenges that conveniently never get posted unless it’s comeback season. Let’s not even talk about him getting blurred in the official zb1 contents. Despite all of that he had one of the highest kpop fancam views on weibo last year, he is on his THIRD brand ambassadorship, and has made a name for himself among korea’s gp for his fashion sense. I know this sub likes to focus on him makeup(which like it’s makeup please get over yourself) and how they think his looks are overrated, but ignore your hate boner for him for one moment and just realize how impressive he truly is. If wakeone/mnet wasn’t so adamant on erasing someone who they never wanted in the group, imagine how much bigger he could have been. submitted by /u/nytvelevet [link] [comments]

4.522. Obsessed with SOMI's ‘EXTRA’ & need to talk about it ☁️

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I check every Somi comeback cause I'm a casual listener, & my favorite title before this one being 'What You Waiting For'. I love the MV concept and what it's about and it was executed really well. Now for the song, the E X T R A hook works really well, that surprised me since chanting letter hooks are always a gamble. The way she sings "Gimme more gimme more 너만 왜 언제나 주인공 in the end" Scratches an itch in my brain SO WELL???? I know one criticism people gave the song is that it never went anywhere, that it kept the same tempo the whole duration but that's what I like about it? It felt like a change and a new sound/direction I'm welcoming from her and if her upcoming album is like this I'll eat it up!. Also "Tried to give my hunnit (100) to you, but you want that I.O.I (101)" is genius. I love playful double meaning lyrics like this! submitted by /u/Dilemma_stress [link] [comments]

4.525. Make a 3rd gen or above K-pop idol group! Day 3: Main Rapper PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION!!!

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Rules: 1. each one has to be a different gen, precisely the one that’s above it or it restarts. Ex… if you pick 3rd gen the first day then the second day has to be 4th gen and after that it can be whatever other gen besides another 4th the day after, if it’s 5th gen the first day then it resets to 3rd gen!! It’s long but it’s simple. Also there can be the same group multiple times just not above 3 times… Lastly the group member MUST be 3rd gen or above or else I will not even look at it, the idol with the most comments I’ll pick. if its a tie I’ll put both but if its a 3 way or more tie then I’ll decide!! 3 simple rules is all… this is my first time doing one of these so I hope it doesn’t get taken down!! Also don’t mind the fonts, I did it in CapCut, today we must have 3rd or 5th gen, I will see who doesn’t care to read descriptions guys…. no matter how many times you say a 4th gen I’ll just skip it… follow the rules submitted by /u/Happy-Flight-4810 [link] [comments]

4.526. The unspoken common denominator of all these idols’ struggles is extreme dieting

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The idol industry is rampant with mental health issues, constant injuries, exhaustion, and burn out - and we don’t talk enough about how all of this relates to the extreme diets they’re pressured into. It’s blatantly dangerous and reckless to be pushing people to these physical extremes while they are deprived of proper nutrition and food. A lot of these idols are very young and have teenage metabolisms, but you cannot maintain the physiques they have without a severe calorie deficit. What do severe calorie deficits do over time? They cause both physical and mental health issues. Nutrient deficiencies, muscle loss, hormonal imbalances, decreased bone density, etc. And we see this with all these idol groups. And the craziest part is, misogynistic media constantly blames the women in this industry for the symptoms of their diets. If a woman cries while talking about the struggles of her daily routine, she’s being too sensitive and ungrateful. No one considers that being constantly hungry and underweight is going to make every physical activity more exhausting, and your emotional responses much stronger. If a woman cannot keep up with vigorous choreography during a concert, she’s lazy and out of shape. Once again, no one considers how the body image expectations imposed on touring idols might impact their fitness. If a woman has a major injury or health problem, it’s met with skepticism. Taylor Swift, for example, had to gain weight and put on muscle for her eras tour in order to get through it. You need muscle mass to keep up with these routines. Actual muscle mass - not just abdominal muscles that are particularly pronounced because of a lack of body fat. Bodies are all different, and surely, there are idols who are naturally on the thinner side and able to live healthy lives at a very thin weight. But as a general rule? It’s genuinely insane to expect these types of bodies from people with their daily lives and schedules. The dieting is particularly insidious because it’s also a means of control. Malnourished young people are easier to control and exploit. This is just a fact. The dieting truly is the common denominator. submitted by /u/Sensitive_Yard1260 [link] [comments]
