916. What happened to concert etiquette? Post-concert thoughts

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just got back from Bibi concert and first and foremost, she is AMAZING!! So good live and fantastic crowd work. Our very own comedian (although in her own words, she’s “too pretty to be one”). I kept trying to remind myself that I went to enjoy her music live and so I walk away with an overall positive opinion of her show. HOWEVER, I also have a range of thoughts and feels. Main note: concert etiquette is a lost art. More than half of the show, I was trying to enjoy the vibes but found myself slightly pissed off that I paid for “unobstructed” seats yet could only see people’s backs. I completely understand wanting to dance and cheer for your fave artists cuz you don’t want to be a dead audience. But, if there’s floor seating that’s meant for standing and the rest of the venue has sloped seats, why on earth would you stand the entire show? And yes you can indeed see the whole stage whilst seated. I wanted to attach pictures for reference of my view when people stood vs not, but it won’t let me. Note that the rest of the section was seated minus the seats going 4 rows right in front of me. Also if you have floor and are standing, you should be doing more than standing still. If only there was a way to determine vibes to seats. The main character syndrome gets me because we’re in the back section of a mid-sized theater and she’s not going to notice you mid-song if she’s on stage. Also, no shade to the girls directly in front of me for standing cuz I know the rows in front stood too so they were just trying to see. But this all started because one girl front row of our section decided to stand and dance the whole time. I did try to tap the girls in front of me (she was prob 5’11” to my 5’4” height so even with sloped seats I could barely see above her head). I asked if they could try doing a tap forward to all stay seated but understood if they were uncomf, and they were indeed uncomf so they didn’t ask in front of them. But yea, spent the concert staring at the big screen instead of seeing the full stage, Bibi, and her dancers which was a major bummer. On the back side too, there were issues. Please tell me why the people in the suites were talking the whole time? These middle aged men were clearly drunk and talking over her! And you know it’s bad when the front floor section also turned back to see who was making the noise. I legit went back to ask if they could take their convo outside since it was distracting to the rest of the crowd and luckily they toned it down a bit. TLDR; concert etiquette now is abysmal and dampens the experience. I feel like an a-hole for being so cranky and speaking up in these situations. On one hand I get that you want to enjoy it to the fullest, but on the other hand I don’t get how you can, if it’s affecting other’s experiences. I feel like there’s a time and place but also very much open to other people’s thoughts if they’ve experienced the same things or think I should chill a bit. submitted by /u/3-michelin-stars [link] [comments]

918. Not Over the Fact That Dahyun Used to Change Her Hair Every Comeback 😭

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Lately, I’ve been seeing so many posts about idols who totally slay certain hair colors, and it suddenly made me think of Dahyun. I really miss the era when she'd come back with a different hair color every time. Like, every comeback felt like a surprise reveal for her hair alone. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love her natural black hair. It looks so healthy and suits her so well. But there’s just something iconic about her switching it up so often. She made every color look effortlessly good. I even remember how fans used to joke that she had the strongest scalp in K-pop because of how often she dyed her hair, LOL. Anyone else miss colorful-haired Dahyun? Or do you prefer her current look? 👀 submitted by /u/omgluii [link] [comments]

919. Is it just me or I feel that allday project will (and is ) getting hate?

I know this is a very weird thing to say (for some of you guys), but do you think they will( and are getting hate and is it justified. I don't know that much about this group, but alot of the news talked about it submitted by /u/EggProfessional4267 [link] [comments]

920. What are your thoughts on J-Hope's Killin' It Girl (feat. Glorilla)?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

To put it simply, I didn’t like it. He’s had better releases, and this feels like one of his weakest. The hook is memorable from the first listen, but not captivating enough for me to add it to my playlist. GloRilla’s verse was okay, but I think the song could’ve been stronger if J-Hope had rapped in Korean instead. It’s your typical sexy vibe track with a muted tone, but it didn’t leave me wanting to hit replay. Just my two cents. I'm curious to hear what you all think of the track. submitted by /u/Acrobatic_Prize_7749 [link] [comments]

921. Free Speech in this Sub, or lack thereof

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Honestly for a sub called kpopthoughts, there appears to be very little appetite to allow any expressions or semblance of thoughtful discussions from happening by the admins, aside from questionable lines of thought or opinions that may sometimes suggest a bias from some admins in particular. Also, too many times subthreads are shut down extremely quickly before any semblance of a proper discussion can form, many times extremely prematurely. I dont stalk this sub often but whenever I do and I find an interesting fresh topic discussed where I would like to express my opinion, the thread is already locked within hours of its post, and the only comments I see are polarised extremist back and forths between agitated people, while people who may have more balanced and emotionally neutral comments dont even get the chance to weigh in on the matter before the case is closed. Let me get that straight, admins are allowed to have biases as do all people, but please dont wield your influence and power to censor or steer community discussions towards your personal beliefs please? I understand that sometimes discussions get heated and become polarising in which case you moderators and admins may feel theres a need to shut down the discussion and lock up threads, but I sincerely plead you moderators to understand that this is part of human dialogue, and to have the confidence that no matter how irrational certain individuals may be, that the community is to a larger extent more moderate and rational, and ultimately that will prevail over extreme sentiments by minorities. Let me just suggest this to you moderators, if you dont like a discussion and you plan and believe in censorship anyway, why dont you just delete that subthread? Because I hate these kind of teases of a discussion that almost immediately bars any further participation. In my opinion, either issue strong guidelines, dont censor, trust in the overall community and ban individual commenters that grossly abuse the guidelines, or just delete the entire discussion anyway if you dont plan on enabling any particular discussions for whatever reason on this subreddit. I know its easy for me to just say it and implementation is probably difficult for you moderators, but I urge you to consider what is the spirit of reddit in the first place, and to not view controversy as a plague to avoid entirely but something to tolerate in the spirit of free speech and community interactions. Im not saying this to target you guys specifically because for all its worth, other subreddits like kpopuncensored or kpopunpooularopinions are literally run in the same spirit as you guys despite suggesting to be better alternatives. This is really just a general criticism of all kpop discussion subreddits. Please accept that kpop is a highly charged field, no one comes into discussions being totally neutral because passionate fans inadvertably take sides despite however we claim to be unbiased, and its only through clashing of opinions and butting heads that the truly balanced take and sentiment arises. Dont force people to have to take their serious discussions to meme places when this is supposed to be the place for serious/semi-serious discussions and meme subreddits should entirely only be for comedic and superficial entertainment. Thanks and sorry for the rant everyone. submitted by /u/Kotarosama [link] [comments]

922. ARTMS Icarus Music Video - Absolute Cinema, 15 Minutes of Soundscape Heaven

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is the best music video of the entire year, it's legit 15 minutes of amazing cinematic scenes, so many narratives, symbolisms, everything, wow. The lore to end all lores, holy moly, divine production. Cinematography fans, we won. Cinephiles, rejoice! If you have good IEMs/headphones/speakers/subwoofers/et cetera, the music video is elevated to the stratosphere as the holographic soundscape/3D effects/etc. stuff will immerse you to another world (my entire room was vibrating (because of my subwoofer) with certain parts), there's nothing quite like this in the Kpop sphere/anywhere right now. No words can describe what was just released by the LOONA/ARTMS/etc. team, this is going down in history as one of the best music videos of all time, so good. submitted by /u/MNLYYZYEG [link] [comments]

923. Since when was it okay to diagnose idols?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've seen the word 'neurodivergent' for god knows how long in every platform. It's been used so incorrectly and it pisses me off. An idol has icks? Neurodivergent. It's always people that are not in the spcetrum that says shit like this. You honestly should be giving the same energy with these kinds of posts you guys give when people assume an idol's sexuality. submitted by /u/Old_Elephant2949 [link] [comments]

931. Why do fandoms always argue with each other?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is something I've noticed and I don't like about fandoms in my five years of being in the field. Fandoms are always arguing and fighting. It gets to the point were you'll see a post discussing one group and some other fandom will just enter in their own fav group in there while the post has ABSOLUTELY GOBSMACK UNDERARMS NOTHING to do with that group like AT ALL. They will enter in and make everything a competition between the groups and it's members. The groups can be friends and be happy around each other but the fandoms will be so busy hating that we can't see them together anymore for example BTS and BP. Fandoms made it impossible to see them together and I'm not talking ship wise I'm talking as normal friends working in the business together. This isn't just a small thing it literally so pmo. Fandoms get so caught up in trying to put uo their fav group that they get so freaking competitive with other groups like bro not all of this is about competition. Its not all about proving your group is better than other groups. Some fandoms will literally cuss out members if they interact with another group especially if it's outside their agency. Why is this normal? Why can't y'all just choose peace? What happened to growing up and being mature adults or just human beings? This isn't a sport this is Kpop and artists can be friends with who ever and they can mingle with whoever they want. Why can't they stop turning everything into argument or making everything about their fav group? submitted by /u/justanotherbeing999 [link] [comments]
