After about 5 years out of the KPop loop, STAYC may be the ones to bring me back in.
Been a KPop fan for a while, die hard girl group stan starting with SNSD back in 2008. Recently though, I've struggled to find anything that has really gotten me hooked and over the last 7 years or so KPop has gradually fallen into the background for me. There has been the occasional group or song that will pop up and go viral and grab my interest that way for a week or so. Nothing to this point has had me reeling back thinking "Damn is this what I've been missing?" Then along came STAYC. Now, being honest, I didn't find them in the most natural way. They came into attention to me through the new show KPopped, their collabs were really quite good and they had me intrigued by the "Oops, All Vocals!" theme. One member in particular had me smitten almost immediately (Sieun, pictured above). I had to dig a little deeper and so far have two songs ("So Bad" and "Beautiful Monster" that are a hard repeat. I know it's early days yet, but I may have found a group that has me feeling what I did for SNSD and Apink. Helps that I have a day one bias too, but this group has me immensely interested and it remains to be seen if they can loop me back in, but they've definitely gotten me a little more observant of newer artists. Any recommendations are more than welcome by the way, I'm an old head in this fandom and sometimes it grows a little too fast for me. Help the aged? submitted by /u/ginginbonbon [link] [comments]

11. Kpop Idols Who Can Be Literal Scholars. | Academics-Based.

Idols Who Could Be Scholars if They Didn’t Pursue an Idol Career. I was going through some old Seventeen videos and stumbled upon a NU’EST video. Aron, one of the members, was on Problematic Men—yes, the same show where RM revealed his IQ and the Jackson-RM combo. Aron shared his SAT score there, and seeing that got me thinking: how many idols out there could have been doctors, engineers, lawyers, or scientists if they had chosen the academic path instead of becoming idols? There have been multiple cases where idols have proven to be incredibly smart, with impressive academic achievements. These are some examples of idols who could have been legit scholars: Aron (NU’EST) — 2180 / 2400 SAT (old scale); accepted to NYU for journalism (chose idol path). Tablo (Epik High) — BA & MA from Stanford University (English / Creative Writing). Park Kyung (Block B) — Mensa membership / reported IQ (often cited ~156). AJ (U-KISS) — Accepted / studied at Columbia University (took hiatus to study). Hani (EXID) — Reported IQ ~145 and high TOEIC (900/990 cited in press). RM (BTS) — Documented as scoring in the top percentiles on Korea’s CSAT / high language test results (often cited top 1%). Reported IQ: 148. Kyuhyun (Super Junior) — Won gold medal in a national Math Olympiad, entered Kyung Hee University and completed a bachelor’s & master's degree in Postmodern Music. Gawon (MEOVV) — SAT ≈ 1550–1560 / 1600 (new scale); admitted to NYU (Media/Communication). Annie (ALLDAY PROJECT) — Reported admission to Columbia University (pre-debut reporting). [unclear if due to academic performance or other factors] So yeah, these idols could easily have pursued careers where they’d be making a different kind of impact—or at least earning that bag in a more traditional way! Did I miss anyone? The Korean idol industry is massive. BTW this is just a fun list I put together after revisiting some old YouTube videos and getting hooked on Problematic Men (THE SHOW) again. 14. K-pop fans , is it necessary to compare groups for no reason ????

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I see so many reels of fans who bring down another group to bring up their favs . ( Ifykyk) I saw a edit which went like "I can see the difference on who performs for money" : clips of stray kids and bp " And who performs for fans "- BTS Like WTF , aren't they popular enough you said , then why compare them with others??? . EVERY GROUP CARES ABT THEIR FANS , AND I AM SAYING THIS AS A FAN OF NEITHER OF THE GROUPS MENTIONED. STILL ITS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY, PLEASE STOP!!!!! submitted by /u/yejioooo [link] [comments]

I found FaSHioN to really stand out from the rest of the music released this year. It felt refreshing with a perfect mix of Western and kpop music . I know a lot of people didn’t like it but everyone has their own opinion. Personally, I found it super addictive. What do you think about it ? 24. Song that would have you retiring as an idol

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You magically wake up as an idol, however you're given a song you just can't bring yourself to perform and instead leads you to early retirement, which song is that? In my case some that I can think would make me want to retire are: "Girls girls girls" Got7 I don't specifically hate the song, but if they give me Mark's part and I have to do cartwheels and acrobatic stuff I'm out. Bye bye, I'm no professional gymnast. "Very Nice" Seventeen Great song, I love to hear it but if they gave me any of the vocal parts, especially DK's I'm out. Same with most of Seventeen songs though. "Fancy" Twice Iconic song, really love my girls but if thee gave me either Nayeon's, Jihyo's or Jeongyeon's part I would be out. In fact if they gave me Jihyo's part in any song I'm out. "Step Back" GOT the Beat I really dislike the cringey lyrics. I'm out. Early retirement. Am I exagerating? Probably. "Baggy Jeans" NCT U Love the song but ain't no way I'm doing the choreo, it seems really tiring, no thanks. "Fever" JYP ft. Bibi Specifically if I was doing the Bibi part, bye. I'd be leaving for retirement early. "Double Knot" SKZ Nothing against the song but if I had to be Changbin I'm out. It's not that everything else is easier but that, I'm not even trying, early retirement. submitted by /u/Ch_ch_chewing_gum [link] [comments]

27. How does your fav group treat their leader?

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Enhypen's leader also happens to be a maknae. Enha would rather die than ever admit Jungwon makes mistakes. Especially in games lol. They'll scold the rules, PD staff, the weather, or other members before they'll ever scold Jungwon for losing them points. Even if Jungwon is the one causing chaos, they'll literally blame anyone else for the disruption lol. They take care of him and lets him do anything he wants with them. They have a lot of trust in Jungwon to lead them in public. He was chosen as the leader because of his tough mentality and the way he looks after the members' needs without being asked. Enha might be quiet and soft-spoken, but every single member has a strong personality. All these strong personalities listen to him and he keeps them in line. At the same time, they're also protective of Jungwon and makes sure he's not alone in carrying the weight of being a maknae and leader. It's also cute how they let Jungwon get away with anything lol. He's such a cute person himself but he leads a group with such strong personalities. Now, what's the dynamic of your fav's leader with their group? How do they treat their leader? submitted by /u/Desire-Untold [link] [comments]
