Mistreatment: to treat a person badly, cruelly, or unfairly. When a member of a kpop group frequently gets the least lines or screentime in a title track, their stans will immediately resort to mistreatment when none has actively been shown at all. Lines and screentime involve more than equality, it involves the concept, the members’ tones, their skills, and most commonly, the marketing. I’m tired of stans overreacting when a member doesn’t get the amount they think he/she deserves, especially when the members himself/herself isn’t vocally strong or a rapper in the group, why should he/she get more than others when skill wise, he/she is already lacking? submitted by /u/Full-Amoeba5171 [link] [comments]

Like literally I see some ILLIT videos and go into the comments and see toxic ARMY in there talking about how BTS is better and how BTS paved the way, even on BIG BANG videos they say that BTS paved the way for kpop!! It's annoying and one of the reasons I don't stan BTS. Don't get me wrong I love the music they produce, but I just can't get into their fandom because it's 80% toxic 10 year olds. submitted by /u/QuietAd9846 [link] [comments]

Don't get me wrong I am REALLY upset at the condom situation. It was wrong to mislead, even if it's for marketing promotions, especially if their target audience is seemingly for younger adults, or teenagers. Their members are 3/4 minors as well. But I recently misclicked on their performance and got sucked into a black hole. I hated the song at first, but it grew on me. All 4 members have good stage presences despite just debuting a few weeks ago. You could feel their presence despite their stages being mostly bare. They sing lives a lot. Their talents are impressive. Personally for me, I'm interested to see their talent growth. submitted by /u/Ok-Pie-9680 [link] [comments]

With how messy the rollout of Blackpink's new song Jump was, I thought that this would be more of a "for the fans" song that won't do that well on charts and for sure won't surpass the peaks of Born Pink era but they proved me wrong. Yes they are Blackpink and they can't really "flop" at this point but this type of smashery was totally unexpected. The song is charting in top 5 of all kcharts, it's in top 10 on YouTube, at #1 on global Spotify for four days, entering top 10 in countries where kpop barely charts like Germany, reaching new peaks in US and UK. As well as #2 on Apple Music global and becoming their highest charting song on the platform and might even become the first kpop song to top that chart. Doing this with Justin Bieber, Travis Scott and Bad Bunny surprise releases is even crazier given how these artists are chart monsters. YG needs to announce that album ASAP. submitted by /u/VengeanceAI [link] [comments]
This might be controversial, but please stop equating Korean or Asian beauty standards of preferring lighter skin as something that stemmed from white supremacy. It is a comment that I often see on idol's actual skin colour when there's no filter or stage light/makeup. I do appreciate the intention of encouraging idols and the industry general to let idols show and find beauty in their natural skin colour, but the beauty standard long exists before we Asians found out that white people exists. It does stem from classism, as back in the old days where agriculture is the main output of productivity, rich people spent less time under the sun, and hence their paler skin. So when you see video filters or makeup that makes idols' skin a shade lighter, please understand that it is simply a beauty standard that has been upheld for centuries (and that is problematic), but it has little to nothing to do with white supremacy. Not everything is about white people. submitted by /u/nayogn [link] [comments]
