In the very last chorus of "Home", BTS' 5th track off of their EP "Map of the soul: Persona" (released April 12, 2019), the vocal line members (Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook) sing: "It’s been a long time, mi casa (my home) With you I just feel rich I’ve returned, hi mi casa (다녀왔어 Hi Mi Casa) You had it turned on, your switch Yeah Even without saying anything, it’s indeed comfortable It was because you were here that it became my home" "다녀오겠습니다" Is a Korean phrase that literally means "I'll go and come back" while "다녀왔습니다" is "I've returned after going away". They are common expressions used when someone is leaving a place where they "belong", emotionally or physically (thank you doolset for context). BTS have used both regularly over the years, usually from planes as they leave for their tours and trips, and in this song, it's laced throughout as they greet the listener after having been away for some time. With military enlistment feeling much the same, it is with this song that ARMY plans to welcome BTS back in June 2025, as Suga, the last member still enlisted gets officially discharged, and we have all seven members of BTS back together since their enlistment era started with the eldest, Jin's on 13th December 2022 (it would have been a total of 2.5 years) So why this song? Besides the title "Home" feeling the most apt, the song itself holds a lot of meaning for BTS and ARMY, and I thought I would elaborate on that in this post. In the Vlive RM did talking about "behind the scenes" stories for their "MOTS: Persona" album, he explains the album's theme: "For me, 'Persona' is the social self. It represents our social mask. A mask could be either good or bad. It is what we present to the outside world as we lead our social and economic life." "Many asked us, 'So what incredible and grand message will you send after this?' (after the 'Love Yourself' era)....do we have to talk about something more grand?.....we decided that it was time to find and know ourselves. Instead of grand things, maybe it's time to talk about the smaller things" "But isn't this for ARMYs? How does this connect back to the fans? I thought about it myself.......But for me, my persona is RM or BTS. That's my social mask and my self. But the mask and persona itself is ARMY. BTS = ARMY. ARMY = BTS. RM = ARMY. There's something I got through the persona or the mask. To talk about all the shadows and good things I've gained, I couldn't help but talk about ARMY." About the song "Home" specifically, he elaborates further: "Anyways, as the one who made this song, it's embarrassing to say, but 'Home' means you (ARMY). Wherever you are in the world, the place where you are is our home. That's the place we should go back to. We will return. The one who wasn't welcomed in 'Make it right' will go back 'home'." This is why the song holds so much significance for BTS and ARMYs. As a personal interpretation, from what he said here and the lyrics, the song feels like it describes BTS venturing into unfamiliar spaces as their fame rose in the west, getting disillusioned, tested, and consciously making the decision to focus on their fans and nothing else. The members, way back in 2019, claimed us as their home, a place to come back to no matter where they've ventured. And now, after being apart in the literal sense for close to 3 years, they get to come back to all those who've waited for them, their mi casa and say "I've returned". The song's lyrics itself feel so apt and are beautifully written, so I thought I'd highlight some parts (translated by doyoubangtan) "I'm exhausted Guess what? I was listening to Bad Desire today and I never realized it was only 2 mins and 21 seconds long which surprised because one of my heartaches with the last 2-3 Enhypen tracks is that they felt just a tad bid short. I still enjoy it through and through bec I really like Enhypen's soundscape. And I realized why it didn't feel as short — it has a "faux" bridge after the second chorus. So the way it's written is that it still has the elements of a longer song crammed under 3 mins. Another example I can think of is Stray Kids' God's Menu — 2:47 long but the combination of its unapologetically loud sonic appeal and the writing of the Felix' faux bridge before the final chorus drop makes it feel like a complete song. While yes, God's Menu is longer bec it has longer verses (+ a post chorus in the first chorus) but them being able to cram all those elements in under 3 mins is impressive songwriting So, anyone else got examples of songs under 3 mins that still give you a full song experience (Also, disclaimer I got nothing against songs w/o bridges it's just that in a songwriting structure they feel "incomplete" but that won't stop me from bopping my head if I deem it as a bop) submitted by /u/Lofijunkieee [link] [comments]

Is it just me that thinks the style of beat, lyrics, and maybe even concept sounds similar-ish to Kang Daniel? When I first heard it on tiktok this morning I thought it was like a mix of EDM like Ateez or older third gen. It feels so familiar but I can't place the concept. Definitely EDM so maybe even stray kids too. Then I showed it to my friend and she said it sounded similar to Kang Daniel. Any thoughts? Well.the title is basically self explanatory. I just want to hear your opinion because maybe I'm too closed off to the groups I stan to an extent that maybe I don't realize some groups's talent and music so I'd like to hear from you. So when I see talks about boy groups big 3 during and for 3rd gen I always see people try to add seventeen and bring EBS up saying that it’s always been EBS, well yes in Korea. But in reality the big 3 for 3rd gen boy group during 3rd gen is and has always been got7 exo and bts. I was a fan during 3rd gen and those were the groups that were huge and I mean huge. Then wanna one debuted and got rlly big but unfortunately they were only a temporary group. But in terms of who had the biggest impact on third gen the groups are bts exo and got7. Seventeen fame really shot up after 3rd gen was over so post 2018. This will be one of my last genuine appreciation threads for a while so it breaks up my thoughts and doesn't seem to much like spamming or anything like that, I just have very long bus rides home and to volunteering so I tend to think and write the most during these times and this is the only forum I really am active in so please bare with me lol. At first from working out in my room and trying to learn the 'Save Me' by BTS Dance to now trying to dance as a workout in my apartment although I have improved on some parts it helps give me that admiration for idols in general. Especially when they have so many back to back comebacks all within the same year. But at the same time I've come to really enjoy choreography videos and dance practices in general, although I still personally love BoyFriends Witch, Obsession Era and the dance practice they did with the light up chairs I also love the iconic YG iKON/Winner Dance Practice Room (a little basis there in all fairness as I love those groups) but it wasn't up until to long ago I branched out from artists I followed and began watching other dance practices for different artists such as MCND's classic of their ICE AGE choreography. I used to write a lot for these two kpop sites and would write about various artists, independent artists, newly debuted and stuff like that. Although by far some of the most popular and talked about dancers are Taemin, Hoshi, Ten, San, Lee Know, Kai, Chaeyeon and many many others. (Sorry don't follow a ton of female artists). Each artist has their own style, from Astro's really tasteful yet brilliantly done choreo such as my fav All Night, to A.C.E's UnderCover (yes I'm worried for BK's back and their poor knees...), Clover or Callin, to songs and dance practices to ATEEZ and XIKERS footwork causing the lights to shake, TXT's unique take on choreography (their poor backs...), or even the style of DKB's dance practice and acro bactic practice from their pre debut are really cool. Sure not everyone is always going to be the best dancer all the time and not everyone in the group will suit dancing, but its really enjoyable to just see so many options for dance and dance practices now. Even if I do still truly watch Ten's solo choreography videos, you can really tell when some enjoy what they do and it makes it even better, but sometimes it doesn't always get as noticed to. So i wasnt really interested in the movie until yesterday until i listened to the songs preview Ahn hyo-seop the VA for Jinu i later found out the singing voice for RUMI , EJAE was a SM Trainee Then i watched the movie and i loved how k-pop was integrated into the movie.(not giving too much details as it would spoil the movie) The songs are chef-kiss and i was suprised to know The Blacklabel was involved in producing the songs How it's Done - The movie couldn't have started with a better opener Golden - The song is so beautiful. Where is this in k-pop Soda Pop - The song is still ringing in my head (reminds me of astro) Your idol - Not my usual jam, but the song fit the situation well Golden and Soda pop is something you don't expect from the black-label. How it's Done is also so amazing, I'm guessing its made for blackpink . Takedown - I loved the movie version more than TWICE's version. Free - The duet made my heart melt What it sounds like - ended the saga well Overall, the discography for this movie is top-tier, making me wonder where this sound is in recent K-pop. I know and appreciate how incredibly lucky I am as an NYC-based kpop fan. I really do. But my goodness! The weather track record for outdoor kpop events I have attended in the past few years has been absurd! Started out with Jungkook on GMA. Massive t-storm that cut the whole thing short, he didn't even get to do a run through. Then Global Citizen with 3Racha and JK, it literally poured all day long. Ateez at Citi Field was rain delayed by multiple hours. Stray Kids at Citi Field had TWO rain delays! Is this the price we pay to get to have all these events in the first place? Earlier this week, Ateez Seonghwa was on Lee Mujin Service, and as someone who has been wanting people to appreciate his vocals more I was really happy. He has such a versatile voice, and with the song choices (including just his performance of Lemon Drop) it really came across well. One of the things Mujin pointed out was how Seonghwa could sound like different people, in the sense of being different characters, rather than just being a change in the vocal style. And that's one of my favorite things about Seonghwa's voice and performance style, so I'm glad that it came up. Speaking of performance style...that call with DPR Ian! Seonghwa has talked about him a lot and it was really sweet that the staff arranged a call with him. I think DPR Ian's comments to Seonghwa were lovely (he said that Seonghwa expresses darkness really well, that his expressions are beautiful and there aren't that many people like him) and it made me happy that someone Seonghwa admires told him this. I know fans say it all the time, but I think it's really another level of a confidence boost to hear it from someone you look up to. (I also wish he'd done a full cover of So Beautiful because the part he did sounded amazing!) Seonghwa mentioned that DPR Ian was doing 111% of what he wanted to do, and that makes me excited for if Seonghwa ever tries a solo project with that level of creativity and that kind of darkness that he's so good at expressing. I really loved the duet (Sugar Sweet by Benson Boone.) I think they sounded great together, and they also had some nice chemistry. In general I thought having three very different songs to show off different aspects of Seonghwa's vocals was a great choice since Seonghwa's strength is in his versatility. He said that he spent a month picking the songs, and on a live Yunho said that Seonghwa started asking about songs two months ahead of time. Also, props to Lee Mujin -- he's so perceptive and the comments he makes about his guests' vocals are always really insightful. He's also a great interviewer in general, really well researched and asking interesting questions, while also letting the conversation flow naturally in some places depending on how much the guest wants to talk about something. The interview sections were great and I feel like we got to know quite a bit about Seonghwa, both in terms of his thoughts about Ateez but also his thoughts about himself independent of Ateez. I really hope that in the future, Seonghwa gets more chances to show off his vocals. He's clearly been working hard at improving. I feel like you can hear a difference between this time last year (when they were on Killing Voice) and now. There weren't actually a lot of Seonghwa vocals in Lemon Drop or in the album in general, so I'm happy there was another outlet to showcase his voice. It can be hard in groups, especially larger groups, to really get a sense of some members' full potential, and it can also depend on the groups' production team, so shows like Lee Mujin Service are really valuable opportunities. Whenever Seonghwa gets an opportunity, he gets the most out of it that he possibly can. He clearly prepared a lot, and put a lot of thought into everything. A few weeks ago, he suddenly turned on a live and asked Atiny for strength but didn't specify why and it was noticeable that he feeling down about something. He revealed later that it was the day before the Lee Mujin Service shoot, and his throat hurt and he was incredibly nervous, but luckily he ended up doing well. Yunho said that he was in the car with Seonghwa when the episode came out, and saw Seonghwa watching it and said that Seonghwa looked happy and satisfied. That makes me really happy.
