as someone who got tickets and isn’t even a huge blink, i need to say: i don’t CARE that they released ONE song in over three years. i don’t care that their dancing isn’t synchronized like at all. when a group has an amazing discography (which not everyone might agree with) & they still put up a genuine LIVE performance, hell yeah i want tickets. do i think it’s sad that they can do this because they don’t have any consequences because people (including me - yes I’m hypocritical) will continue supporting them? yes. but at the end of the day i personally feel like i am getting what i expected. even before their dancing was never something they were praised for in concerts. lack of energy was always a common theme in discussions. nevertheless, if i can be in a stadium of people singing their heart out to forever young im good. short rant lol submitted by /u/kkazugyu [link] [comments]
Ever since Jeongyeon gained some weight, it feels like people have just been quietly waiting for her to go back to how she used to look. There’s this unspoken expectation that she’ll have some kind of “glow up,” and honestly, it’s draining. She probably already feels enough pressure on her own, but every time she shows up on camera, the comments are still focused on her body. In Twice's latest music video, there’s a quick scene where her stomach is visible. If you compare it to the rest of the video, it looks like her waist was slightly edited to appear slimmer. And just like that, people online start celebrating. Suddenly she’s “back,” she’s “lost weight,” she’s “glowing up.” All based on one shot that might not even reflect how she actually looks. Jeongyeon used to be very thin. When she gained weight, most of it went to her upper body, and that’s just how her body naturally carries it. People store weight in different ways. Some gain it in their legs, others in their midsection or arms. For Jeongyeon, it added more to a frame that was already broader on top. But instead of seeing this as a normal part of how bodies change, people act like it’s something that needs to be hidden or corrected. That’s why no matter what outfit she wears, people always say it doesn’t flatter her. Not because the outfit is actually bad, but because it doesn’t give her that exaggerated hourglass shape fans seem to expect. And since that’s not her natural silhouette, unless she’s wearing something super fitted or heavily styled, it’s just not going to be there. So if her stomach isn’t completely covered or if she’s wearing something more relaxed, the response is almost always negative. Of course some outfits look better on certain body types, that’s just how fashion works. But in Jeongyeon’s case, it feels like the rules are different. Things that look fine on other members are suddenly considered bad styling when it’s her wearing them. It’s not really about the clothes, it’s about the fact that her body doesn’t fit a narrow ideal. And when people act like the only way for her to look good is to either hide her shape or force it into something it’s not, it just ends up feeling restrictive. Not everyone needs to look like an hourglass to be attractive. Not every idol should have to fit into one specific body type to avoid criticism. Jeongyeon looks great, regardless of whether she matches what fans are used to seeing. It’s time people stopped treating her body like a before-and-after project and just let her exist without turning her into a topic of debate every time she’s on screen. submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

Despite their fans separating them from K-pop (even going as far as promoting them as better than all k-pop groups), the majority of Katseye discussion occurs in K-pop spaces because outside of that, there really isn't a space to talk about them to maintain the hype. Western celeb fan culture had been quite...unexciting for quite some time now. There is an apathy among the public regarding the personal lives of western artists even if they are at the top 0.001%. Sure fanwars will still exist for them but most likely they are caged within the echochambers of their particular small communities in Twitter unless some big celeb messed up big BIG time that it reaches the news. (Funnily enough, paparazzi kinda feels less notorious right now compared to Dispatch). On the other hand, K-pop spaces are centered on discussion may it be comparisons or any other kind of thinkpiece (and the topic could be the most mundane of things). There is constant fan activity and engagement to the point where so many brands try to take advantage and it's not always even in an official capacity (e.g. rather than official ambassadorships, social media accounts of brands often comment on fan posts and whatnot). Outside of fan spaces, movement of big K-pop groups reach the news not only in SK but also in countries where K-pop is mainstream (e.g. SEA countries). In a world where constant engagement equates to popularity, it is pretty funny but ultimately unsurprising that Katseye fans (despite the amount of comments bringing down either the talents of most K-pop idols or the system of that industry) will engage in K-pop discussions because that's the place where people are the most active. There really is no fan community to generate activity for Katseye right now in the Western pop space, especially with other Western groups. That's why ultimately it is ironic that despite Eyekons trying to present them as something separate and entirely better than K-pop, Katseye "leeches off" from the industry not only from the financial resources & infrastructure of Hybe (and even the entire industry) but also in terms of source of popularity from fan activity. If Katseye is stopped being discussed in any way alongside K-pop (may it be in a positive or negative light), it would severely impact their trajectory. submitted by /u/Intelligent_Office37 [link] [comments]
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Hey everyone, I hope you had a good week. My week was fantastic, as so many exciting tunes were released that kept popping up on my playlist like crazy. I was excited that my Ult group Twice returned with new music that I've been obsessed with. I'm glad that July is shaping up to be a great month for music. Now that all that's out of the way, let's jump into the music and check out these releases from the week. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/iwt2k89mbhcf1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39d41777cb8619537100c841f58d33f6bc396e16 Other Korean Releases of the Week: July 6th 도망 - Hanroro Indie singer Hanroro is back with a brand new single. The track opens up with a guitar that has a bit of an echo effect on it that blends with the smooth vocals from the singer. The chill tune lets the vocalist shine. I've been enjoying the singer's performance. When the percussion comes into the mix, the atmospheric vibe comes to life. I've been listening to this tune a lot cause whatever Hanroro creates becomes something I get obsessed with. This new single fits perfectly into the singer's discography. https://preview.redd.it/vqz15jbvbhcf1.jpg?width=201&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4af62250098031bd6e3dba787b77e557437396a5 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ July 7th Extra - Jeon Somi Jeon Somi is back with her once. A year single. Last year, we heard Somi sing Ice Cream a track I wasn't thrilled with, and she never returned with it. Her new single is called Extra One, which I'm in the middle with. I like the funky production, but it feels a bit lacking for my taste. Somi still has some great vocals, which makes me sad that a company is wasting her talent. The hook sounds one-note to me as it doesn't do much to make me like the song at all. Extra sounds like a Kpop rendition of a Sebrina Carpenter track, which I'm not thrilled about. Somi needs a mini album, not these half-baked singles that don't do much for her. https://preview.redd.it/8mkjip2zbhcf1.jpg?width=686&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93225a9d712e30c08b3560aee9881187f91a0828 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Charizzma - HITGS HITGS is back with their third single after debuting back in April. Their second single was Gross, a tune that I haven't been listening to a lot since I find it a bit lacking. New single Charizzma is a bit better, but still feels like it's lacking the spark the debut had. The vocals from the members are pretty good as they work well with the overall vibe. The thumping instrumental is decent enough to work wonderfully with the group's performance, but something about it feels a little lacking. The hook could've been better. There is one moment where the beat switches up for a moment, but that second feels a bit out of place for me. HITGS had an excellent debut. Can't the new single's release be just as good? https://preview.redd.it/ua1q9i53chcf1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8998d3e90ed76c5d901d4938edff36b9873eb127 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Fire (My Sweet Misery) - Xdinary Heroes Xdinary Heroes is back with a new single, which is fully in English. Synths open up the track with crashing guitars and drums coming into the mix. The vocals are fiery as they blend wonderfully with this hard-rock sound. The instrumentation is strong as it backs up the vocal performance wonderfully. The English sounds pretty good, working well with the sound the band has crafted. The overall song fits perfectly into the band's discography. https://preview.redd.it/gklqidvachcf1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91853e5de963e0197341926eaf21d394324a5554 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Lastfm Weekly Roundup (July 4th - July 10th) Artist: Twice https://preview.redd.it/i6h3catgchcf1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83ac6a0f87d5a06a1be8a0ec7a0d6e5107ea6d3f ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Album: The 1st full album [BLISS] - D.O. https://preview.redd.it/45s00r6jchcf1.jpg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e347809cbcc88cf5ba7ce49ac8358374da5e16f ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Song: 愛♡スクリ~ム!- AiScream https://preview.redd.it/ngwk64flchcf1.jpg?width=283&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b00d2cc456c014c01c67399b7ecff0fbfe081080 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]
I’ll be dropping a few of my own favorites! I’m feeling a little bored and thought it’d be fun to watch some well-edited, visually pleasing ship edits or just edits because some look very sibling coded. Just to clarify upfront 👉 This is NOT meant to force or assume any real-life relationships. 👉 I completely respect all idols/artists as professionals and individuals. 👉 This is purely for fun and appreciation of good editing. Feel free to share yours - any fandom or dynamic (romantic, platonic, chaotic duos) all welcome! Let’s keep this space respectful, light and fun. Thank you!! (PS: Some edits don't make sense at all and also I don't know why someone edited jungwon with Drake, keep that man continents away from my guy 😭😭) submitted by /u/lia_core [link] [comments]
Following Jungkook's discharge from the military a little over a month ago, a lot of people have been anticipating his frequent return to social media, and his sporadic yet fun livestreams. However, "fans" have been growing increasingly frustrated, going as far to say that's he's 'ignoring them' or acting 'distant' and 'depressed'. What in the parasocialism? Okay, first of all, he literally just got back from the military. Let that boy readjust to civilian life in whatever way he sees fit. Second of all, he's literally working on an album right now. That requires time and careful attention. I feel like a lot of these people who are having crash outs on TikTok and Twitter about Jungkook's absence are 2023+ BTS fans, because Jungkook has ALWAYS been the more inactive member. I remember we got maybe... four individual posts from Jungkook in 2019, and I think he only did one singular live stream in 2020... on YouTube. Other members often had to update us on him because of how quiet he was online. He would be active in a group setting, sure, but getting a solo live or post from him was always a treat because of how rare it was. But he was set to enlist in 2023 and said he wanted to spend more time with us, so naturally he did over 32+ lives and posted frequently on Weverse. I just feel so bad for Jungkook... I wish people would stop being so weird about him all the time. He seriously has some of the worst solo fans because they constantly insult him too, saying he's forced to do 90% of the things he willingly chooses to do himself. Some of them have even vandalized group exhibits telling Jungkook to go solo and leave the group altogether… I also feel horrible about how they treat his relationship to Jimin, who obviously is someone he deeply cares about (enough to enlist with him for 18 months)… like god forbid Jungkook has a close friendship with someone he has known for over 12+ years, and y’all are over here making conspiracy theories as to how it’s all the company and that they hate each other… Give me a break, man. submitted by /u/Lost-Opinion3554 [link] [comments]

Once upon a time, people actually discussed things. Humans used their brains instead of just SPEWING ABSOLUTE FUCKING NONSENSE. You’d go into a BTS MV comment section in 2018 and actually find some theories about different aspects of the mv and even some really fucking unhinged comments thirsting over someone's eyebrows . There were psychological breakdowns of lyrics, references to HYYH storyline continuity, and random stuff like that But now its an annoying place filled with of rotting streaming goals and copy-paste brainlessness. Every third comment is just “Who’s here in 2025? 🫶💜” like congratulations, you are in fact here in 2025. Would you like an award for your groundbreaking contribution to humanity? “Be yourself because yourself is yourself.” or "You're not ugly, it's society blah blah"– Kim Namjoon probably (no, he didn’t say that, Susan, he has an IQ of 148, he forms actual sentences and its funny how its always namjoon lmao). Or the tragic motivational comment: “If you’re sad, eat ice cream 🍦 BTS loves you 💜 like if agree.” Thank you,I was considering existential collapse until your ice cream emoji cured me and liking your comment has increased my goddamn lifespan Scrolling through the comments is just getting so futile because in the end i only find“STREAM GOAL: 1B BY NEXT MONTH LET’S GO ARMY 💜💪” floating around. No one discusses symbolism, narrative links, choreography intention, or music production layers anymore because apparently it’s all about mindlessly hammering replay to fulfil a streaming quota that absolutely nobody outside the fandom cares about. And I get the fact that streaming is important and it's business and they actually care about being famous but bro, it's tiring, i wish we had like websites which kept streaming goals cuz the comment section is so tiring And the worst part is the delusion. These comments genuinely think they are achieving something noble by suffocating the entire section with carbon copy goals and “2025 anyone??” as if anyone cares that you, a random user, are alive right now. I am well aware that this entire post made me sound like an insufferable bitch but I got tired alright? I am a very nice person but this made me a bit mad But sure. Keep at it, people. submitted by /u/weirdly_aristocratic [link] [comments]
As someone who's been with fromis_9 for five years of their career, I have to say. When you experience these changes once at a time (agency change or members leaving), they don't seem that significant. But when you really look back, it's like, wtf... what on earth happened for fromis_9 to have this rocky of a journey lol? Like, losing Gyuri in 2022 was already bad. She was the most popular member of the group then and it was their first career peak. But then, combined with leaving PLYBE, Saerom, Jisun and Seoyeon departed from the group. And we're not even getting into how fromis was fighting with the agency just for their own name. And we're not even getting into the agency changes. When Off The Record disbanded and became Wakeone, fromis_9 wasn't on the agency lineup at first, which was worrying as hell. Then, they moved to Pledis. Probably one of the worst years of their career, but they became very popular then. And now they signed with ASND. So far, ASND seems to be an amazing company. So, I have some hopes they're finally in a stable work environment. I feel like the craziest part throughout all of this, is that they're still growing in popularity. Supersonic is still in the top 100 of every charts a year later, Like You Better is already breaking Supersonic's records and they're becoming one of the most popular girl groups in Korea right now. I think it's amazing tbh, and we might never see a group like them again. submitted by /u/yebinkek [link] [comments]
I've been wondering this. I'm 2 or so years into Kpop and only find myself fully dedicated to 3 groups. But frequently I see post on tiktok like "My Top 10 Biases" and I'm just shocked like how? How do you actively have enough time to know every members name, watch their daily/weekly uploads, buy albums, stream music, etc. Enough to form a bias in a group? submitted by /u/Cuzzbaby [link] [comments]
Jeonghan and sakura look same while jeonghan and lee dong wook give same vibes( I swear they both have same reactions to things ) Since I feel like jeonghan gives lee dong wook vibes , I think it will be really cool if he debuts as an actor. Just a guess but ppl barely pointed these 2 looking or giving jeongha vibes Can't post in kpop unpopular opinions , my acc is new for them :/ submitted by /u/Klutzy-Advisor2003 [link] [comments]
Please feel free to take this down or redirect to the correct subreddit if it's not allowed here. I'm looking at doing a cover of Blackpink's new song Jump, but I haven't found anyone else who would. I'm going to do Jennie's lines, but the other three members are still available, and it'd be recorded on bandlab. If anyone wants to please shoot me a message with the member you want and I'll invite you to a discord group where I'll share the line distribution and bandlab project submitted by /u/Old_Socks17 [link] [comments]

so recently Xinyu (S15) came on fromm and said this: "I'm not that strict. I mean, Macao is actually part of China. So is Hong Kong and Taiwan. Why, do you think I'll get a scolding for saying this? Did I say something wrong? If you don't agree with me, don't subscribe to my fromm." i don't know how to think about this since Nien (S13) is also a member of the group and she is Taiwanese/Vietnamese and they've known each other even before debuting together in tripleS. submitted by /u/illicis [link] [comments]

National Geographic "Here we have thousands of young dreamers fighting for their spot in the K-pop industry... but who will be the next big star?" Cut to Lee Minho, smiling with the innocence of someone who doesn’t know he’s about to change everything 🧍♂️: “I want to be a singer…” The world: Okay but first, do a 15-second breakdance to prove it Minho:Nah, not an audition, this is a cultural reset The camera: We’re following you And just like that, with a single dance move, He sealed his fate and changed the K-pop game forever. submitted by /u/Turiturita [link] [comments]
