This makes it her 18th active brand deal, and is the idol that currently holds the most active brand deals. (click on the 3rd photo to enlarge and see the complete list of her active brand deals right now) submitted by /u/DirtyCrimeBoi01 [link] [comments]
Okay hear me out before you come for my wig š Iām not saying theyāre the biggest or most awarded ā Iām saying when it comes to pure skill (vocals, dance, stage, musical risk-taking), LOONA and NMIXX are on a whole different tier. LOONA is literally āThe 12-member group with zero fillerā who was mismanaged by their company. I mean.. Their subunit system (1/3, OEC, yyxy) was designed to showcase each memberās strength before debut ā and it worked. Vocals? Kim Lip, Chuu, Jinsoul, Yves, Haseul, etc. are all main vocal level. Dancers? Olivia Hye, Heejin, Yves, and Yeojin go toe-to-toe with elite dancers in the industry. The choreography for āButterflyā and āPaint The Townā? Sharp, emotional, visually stunning. They tackle concepts other groups wouldnāt dare touch ā ethereal, experimental, layered. They werenāt built for virality ā they were built for longevity and artistry. If they had SM or HYBE backing? Game over. Plus +++++ NMIXX āThe 4th-gen group with main vocals onlyā yk Lily, Haewon, and Sullyoon are not just stable. Theyāre powerhouse vocalists who could carry solos easily. MR-removed performances? They slay. No excuses, no backing track crutches. Their music is weird AF (especially debut era) ā but thatās what makes them impressive. āO.Oā and āDiceā are like musical obstacle courses. Kyujin and Jiwoo are top-tier dancers ā clean, powerful, and expressive. Theyāre still rookies, but they perform like theyāve been around for years. If K-pop was judged purely by SKILL and not sales/hype, these two would dominate every āTop 5ā list. Fight me in the comments if you want, but deep down you know Iām right. submitted by /u/codegreen22 [link] [comments]
I honestly donāt care that idols have gotten plastic surgery done, and I donāt know why people are making such a big deal out of it. (Like whole social media accounts analysing what idols did surgery or not) The K-pop industry puts the emphasis on being attractive, and it is is so normalized in Korea that I just donāt find it shocking that artists have gotten some surgery done at some point in their careers. (Although, I think that there are some very valid criticisms and societal commentaries made about plastic surgery). submitted by /u/New_Mall_6773 [link] [comments]
I used to follow comeback scheduels very closely and by the time the album/single was out it was just another song and I wasn't very excited to hear it because I already know how the songs sounds like, and if I decided to buy the album I would listen to it maybe 1-2 times and look at the photobook once because I saw the concept photos before and there was nothing new for me. So when IU announced that she's making a comeback (great album) I decided to take a different approach and avoided any spoiler: no conept photos, no highlight medely, I didn't even know the song titles until the my order arrived today. Nothing. I wanted to buy the album and be surprise for real. I wanted to take a risk and maybe get dissappointed (Impossible). I didn't listen to kpop at all, it wasn't intentional, it just happened, first week was difficult because it was a big change for me, but the next weeks were better (thanks to The Kinks and The Beatles and all the other amazing bands). Today morning the delivery guy woke me up and I got the package and I was so happy!! I waited so long and I never thought I could but I did it. I'm not sure I'll do it again to this extent but it was an experiment, and the songs do sound better after a long break. Anyway I missed a month full of comebacks so please tell me about your favorites. submitted by /u/GeorgeParisol [link] [comments]

Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask this question. Iām coming back to kpop after a long time so Iām only very familiar with 3rd gen and now 5th gen SMTOWN. Just curiousāwhy do some idols choose to stay with SM while others donāt? I sort of understand how Red Velvet contracts worked out (correct me if Iām wrong)āIrene, Seulgi, and Joy were treated much better by the company than Wendy and Yeri from what Iāve seen and heard, so it makes sense they would stay. Iām just a bit curious after seeing the cast at SMTOWN London. There were plenty of senior idols there, just a very select few representing each group. I was wondering if anyone has a clearer insight on why some idols stay and some donāt. Iād love to know whatās been happening while I was gone. edit: for clarification submitted by /u/ImpossibleManner6079 [link] [comments]

2 months after its initial release IS CRAZY. They have been doing so many festivals and Korean promo which I am so glad is paying off. Their unique listeners are also going up up up. Absolutely wild. It seems that Chanelleās boy group version (which she has been doing since sos) has been a trend lately. Such good news for their first anniversary together. Iāve been thinking a lot lately about how common it is to see certain idols being constantly busy, and how fans (and companies) treat that like something admirable. But when you actually look at the amount of work some of them are doing, it starts to feel more like overexploitation than ādedication.ā Take Jaehyun from BOYNEXTDOOR, for example. He debuted less than a year ago and has already been booked non-stop: music shows, brand events, magazine shoots, variety, and more. Heās done work for Musinsa, Beanpole, multiple editorial covers (GQ, Arena, etc.), and solo appearances, all while still being an active rookie. Heās only 21. At what point do we admit that itās just too much? Then thereās Mark from NCT. Heās probably the clearest case of overwork in K-Pop. NCT 127, NCT Dream, NCT U, SuperM, solo content, features, tours... it never stops. Heās been on a near-constant loop of comebacks and promotions since like 2016. There was a point where he had multiple back-to-back world tours in a single year. Itās impressive, but also concerning. Other examples come to mind easily: Heeseung (ENHYPEN) coming back from injury without proper rest. Karina (aespa) with endless schedules in Korea, the U.S., and China. Even mentioning sleep deprivation in livestreams. Hoshi and Woozi (SEVENTEEN) working as performers, choreographers, producers, often at the same time. Bang Chan (Stray Kids) constantly juggling production, tours, and weekly livestreams, even when he looks completely drained. Weāve kind of normalized this. Fans often praise how āhardworkingā these idols are, or joke about how they ādonāt sleepā but none of this should be normal. Itās not just hard work, itās a system that pushes people until they burn out, and then replaces them when they do. Iām not saying idols shouldnāt be ambitious or take opportunities, but there should be a line. And a lot of companies, and honestly, fandoms, seem to ignore that line entirely. Maybe itās time we stop glorifying non-stop hustle and start asking whether this level of output is actually sustainable. Because if idols are constantly tired, injured, or mentally worn out, what are we really supporting? submitted by /u/Seesawey [link] [comments]
