i’m not talking about the ‘foreign’ members but the nationality of the members that a group have —like NCT has someone from China, Taiwan, Macau, Thailand, USA, Canada, Hongkong and Japan. another recent group i just bumped into was AHOF —they have like more than 5 members with different nationalities in their group (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Taiwanese and Australian) submitted by /u/Better_Internet1123 [link] [comments]
I’ll go first - for the longest time I would be so confused when people would say “the English version of (insert song here) is such an mess, the lyrics are so bad” because I quite literally thought that English versions were just direct translations of the Korean version 💀. I’ve been into kpop since 2019ish and I’m not even kidding it took me until last year to realize that they’re separate lyrics after it clicked that the song would be entirely thrown off if it was a direct translation. To be fair, I’m not a huge fan of English kpop songs so that’s why I never noticed 😭. It also took me a long time to understand the culture of kpop. When I first got into it, I remember being so confused by things like fancams, ending fairy, collecting albums etc. I literally had zero clue that it was that much different from the culture of American pop. I remember having to use a kpop term cheat sheet 24/7 lmfaooooooo submitted by /u/berrybimbap [link] [comments]

i joined kpop around 2016-ish, and positions played a big role for me to get to know the members, and i think it really showcases their role in the group. but i also think that it has something to do with the recent trend where companies try so hard to debut groups where all the members are "all-rounders". i love it when certain members excel in certain positions/roles, they don't have to fulfill forced roles that were expected of them. like yes, we have specific members for dancing, and certain members for singing, etc., i love that aspect. and now all we have are Vocalists, Rappers, Leader, Maknae, and everything else (most of the time) is just assumed by fans. i see fans saying that this is better than having official positions... anybody else who prefers official positions more? submitted by /u/Jc-Lilliana-lol [link] [comments]
I would like to do a nostalgia and cover Boombayah as the first cover submitted by /u/Any_Theme1577 [link] [comments]
Does anyone know where the YouTuber/content creator Kpop Junkee has gone? For reference: he posted kpop news and there were rumours that Hybe sued him due to one of the ( now taken down ) videos he had posted. This is a rumour and nothing is confirmed please remember that. He hasn’t posted since the 23rd of May 2024 and I’m honestly just wondering if he’s okay submitted by /u/Candid-Bear1308 [link] [comments]
CL’s surprise appearance at PSY’s Summer Swag concert last weekend – and let’s just say… she OWNED the stage 😳🔥Dressed in a snake-skin jumpsuit, studded belt, shades, and western boots – her look was insane. Fans went wild. submitted by /u/Fragrant-Future9039 [link] [comments]

I will wait for it. He has everything. The face, the talent, the vocals, and the personality that would be fit for variety shows. Idk I just want Hangyul to keep performing on stage forever. submitted by /u/yannana-98 [link] [comments]

It's quite the talk on X rn about SVT's Hoshi liking a shady reel on ig about the Best Dance Performance Award at MAMA 2019 (BTS won this award, by the way). Now, my feed is in a frenzy blowing this up because, damn, an idol liking a shady reel about their senior and from the same label too??? LMAO, that's so unexpected from him, especially since he's one of the few who has openly talked about BTS and how they “opened the way” for a lot of artists in the Western market (he mentioned this during his guest appearance on Suga’s variety show interview “Suchwita”). Your thoughts about this because idk what to say, he looks so genuine talking about BTS in the interview 😭 submitted by /u/sinieves [link] [comments]
This is probably the ONE time I'll agree with that man. I always think of prime Britney Spears. Objectively, she wasn't a strong singer. On that stage though... presence was out of this world. Dancing. Just the performance. She was star. She drew people in. Dua Lipa. She really was just a regular singer until that "Go girl, give us nothing" comment. She became a better performer. A better dancer. She learned to captivate an audience. Then she started going viral on twitter and instagram. A star was born. Nicki Minaj in her prime was talented and had star power. Nowadays, people pull up her recent performances just to make fun of her. To laugh at her. Whether people want to admit or not, she has lost that star power. Gnarly. Everybody hated the song until the performances came out. So like yeah. Talent is important and will get you to places many can only dream of, but star power is what keeps you in those places. Talent just isn't enough anymore. You also have to be interesting and a lot of artists aren't; on and off the stage. submitted by /u/cocochanelism [link] [comments]
