924. Looking for people to join my "Honest Kpop Quality Check" team.

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm very interested in videos that take a critical look at kpop idols talents and not the kind that just say nice things about an idol so they can get lots of views from their fans. I really appreciate learning about the hard work that goes into a kpop group and, even when its one of my faves, I appreciate learning about what could be improved on. And so the idea popped in my head "What if I made a youtube series where people critiqued kpop groups from multiple angles?" and because I'm crazy I decided to go through with the plan. I am making a YouTube series called "Honest Kpop Quality Check" which examines multiple aspects of a kpop group, and I need different 'experts' for each category. I'm looking for people who know what they're talking about and don't hand out participation trophies. There needs to be a reason for people to listen to your opinion beyond the fact that you have them. I'm looking for people who know the meta and in certain cases have practical knowledge in their topic. My role: I'm a video guy so I will be the producer and editor for the actual video. I'll also be collecting the material you'll be using to judge the group by. Basically the only thing you need to worry about is listening to/watching media and sharing your critical thoughts on it, I'll handle everything else. Roles I'm looking for: Vocal Critic (must have college level knowledge in contemporary voice) Music Production Critic (must have college level knowledge in music production) Video Production Critic (must have college level knowledge in video production) Dance Critic (must have years of dance experience) Rap Critic (must be a big rap fan particularly knowledgable in rap technique, bonus points if you speak Korean) Stage Presence Critic (must be a serious critic of stage presence, bonus points if you have theater experience) If you're interested in joining the team fill out this form: https://forms.gle/gCxpAEouQE4ipZnt9 submitted by /u/CatzEatYerFace [link] [comments]

927. How do you navigate being a fan when a member is exposed for something irredeemable?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

With the recent situation involving Taeil and all the discourse around it online, I have been wondering about what it means to stay in a fandom after a serious scandal. More specifically, when the scandals involve assault, harassment or something else morally non-negotiable. Did you end up un-stanning the group entirely? If the member was removed and you stayed for the other members, how do you go about the songs or content that still feature them? I’m just genuinely interested in how people process these situations, especially as fans who care about both the music and the ethics surrounding the artists. I hope there is a nuanced conversation around this without any judgement or vitriol. submitted by /u/JinnieP [link] [comments]

928. Any updates on the EXO-CBX lawsuit?

I was just wandering since the last update about the lawsuit was at the beginning of the year. I just hope everything works out fine so that we can move on and go back to normality. submitted by /u/Injeolmie_04 [link] [comments]

929. I’m so disappointed after going to my ult group’s concert

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

To be clear, it wasn’t the performers themselves whatsoever. I saw Stray Kids and they were so incredible and full of energy. They’re incredibly talented and just as amazing in person. And I’m SO grateful I even got to see them live. But the other fans made the experience so bad. I’ve been to a lot of kpop shows and the people at this concert were the most rude and inconsiderate by far. For about 90% of the show, the people next to and in front of me were SCREECHING to the top of their lungs throughout the whole night. (Not screaming or cheering- screeching) This was in a baseball stadium and the audio was bad to begin with, but I could legitimately barely hear a lot of the show because of this. Whenever the members spoke, I could barely hear bc of them and I feel like I missed out on so much that happened. The people in front of me held their lightsticks and signs over their heads the entire show (even when I NICELY asked them to put them down). The person next to me kept pushing me and hitting me with her lightstick because she was waving it in every direction without any consideration. It really felt like people would do anything to get an interaction or a y/n moment and it was just embarrassing. The main character syndrome was so obvious and idk if it’s because of my age but I got the ick from so many people. I know not all stays are like this but concert etiquette has gotten so bad and I feel like I’m going insane submitted by /u/missy098 [link] [comments]

930. Which kpop mv do you think is underrated?

  • reddit.com language

I love Fifty Fifty's "Pookie". I know they're boycotting the new lineup, which is a shame, but this MV is so beautiful. The special effects are so well done and the cinematography is great too, it's better than some of the Big 4's MVs submitted by /u/PrismRider21 [link] [comments]

934. Sometimes fans of non-Big 3 (4?) groups can be annoying

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

All fandoms have attitudes that are annoying, ALL OF THEM. Sometimes it seems like some people feel a certain superiority (to say the least) when pointing out that their groups are not from the Big 3/4 and to a certain extent it feels like shade when they make comments like "My groups are so talented and have worked really hard, not like others who are only famous because it was handed to them on a silver platter", although believe it or not, many of these groups, despite coming from big companies, have also worked and continue to work very hard to get to where they are. I mean, yes, the hard work of all these groups from medium or small companies is admirable, and I also understand why it's easier to empathize with them given that their situation is closer to our reality, but sometimes fans of Big 3 groups seem like they can't even celebrate some new achievement because they automatically start commenting like "It seems like XYZ is spending a lot of money to convince us that this was a success". submitted by /u/Someonehihi [link] [comments]

1.Non black kpop fans should not be telling us to get over things. 2.kpop is literally built off of black culture . Bet you wanna ft cardi b was horrible 4 most kpop idols looks are overrated (Jennie Lisa Yoona Wonyoung ) 5 black pink are overrated . 6 Lisa and Jennie are not good rappers. 7 KIOL knew what they were doing 8 Exo has better vocals then bts while bts has better rappers 9 aespa, nmixx, and purple kiss best 4th gen vocals 10-colorism will never be okay 11 Taeil deserves more than 7 years. 12-Yg has an obsession with black culture Katseye isn’t kpop Jessi blackfishes jhope last good song best tt is daydream 16-Amber liu and Wendy are racist Luna top 3 kpop vocalist . Jay park deserves hate . 19 jaejoong from tvxq is an ace 20 CL is YG best female rapper 21 black pink needs to be held accountable 22 smart by lesserafim was horrible . I’m not a fan of Wendy from red velvet vocal color. 24 rose’ only good singer in black pink Soyeon is a good rapper . Excuse me from AOA is best Title track . 937. Do you think illit could release a hit as big as magnetic again?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This has been a hot topic in the fandom lately and I wanted to add my two scents. I think yes. Let’s not forget that illit is a pretty recent group with only 3 releases out. They have their whole career ahead of them so there’s definitely space for another big hit. I think it’s too early for fans to get desperate. Plus, considering everything they’ve been through,I think they’re doing quite decent. Another thing is that magnetic was more catchy than their two more recent tts. If you check out magnetic you can tell why it was so successful. Song is extremely catchy and gets stuck in your head,it has a lot of killing parts and it’s very gp friendly. Their recent tts are also good and they clearly have a stable artistic direction but as a fan,I’d personally choose magnetic. And at the end of the day comparing each release to the success of magnetic sucks the fun out of the comeback. A release doesn’t have to be magnetic level to be successful submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]

938. What SCANDALOUS idea do you wish a certain idol would actually take on?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It's an IYKYK thing but I saw someone commented they'd love to see JX (Jaejoong and Xia Junsu duo) cover TVXQ's "Keep your head down" just to watch the fandom erupt. Context if anyone is curious; it's the title song of tvxq's first comeback after the trio left SM and rumoured to be directed at the members who left. Literally telling them to keep their head down, though of course this idea was refuted. Who really knows though. submitted by /u/GemBum [link] [comments]

940. I hate how there's always a kpop group who becomes the "punching bag".

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Seriously, I hate it. I hate to see how there is always one group that no matter what they do, they will be detested. Blackpink, LESSERAFIM.... have gone through so much, they have been the dumping ground for hate and rancor from so many, many “fans”. Now, it's ILLIT. Really, this needs to stop. We are talking about people, not robots. If you hate your life so much, find a solution instead of dumping your grudges on an idol (or any person). If you like insulting idols so much to make your favorites look better, you should get off the internet for a while. submitted by /u/_issio [link] [comments]

942. Haknyeon: We should wait for evidence

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Here is his statement. Here is 100's response. I'm not a TBZ fan, but I have been watching this play out. There are different stories from all sides. Company says the optics of being seen with a former AV actress is bad, the media alleges criminal activity, Haknyeon says it was not. An investigation has been launched, so we'll find out the truth soon enough. If he did what is alleged, well, that's a stupid way to throw away your career. If he didn't, the apology will not be as loud as the rage we're seeing now. Reporters are claiming prostitution, but it isn't in company statements, and Haknyeon is fighting against the claim. I just think it would be best if we waited to see what's discovered by police before making up our minds. Innocent until proven guilty is a good policy, not just in how we view others, but in how we want them to view us in the case that we come under fire for something we know we did not do. I just think it doesn't hurt to hold back judgement until we get some cold hard evidence. If he did it, then he did it and he'll have to bear the consequences. If he didn't, then a lot of the discussion thus far has been detrimental to his reputation. He'll likely never be allowed back to the group. The optics of being around a former AV star doesn't look good for a k-pop idol, and that's the grounds 100 kicked him out on. It would be difficult to argue against that in a courtroom, considering the conversation sparked by the news of his departure and the media response. If he's found innocent, maybe he can have a career elsewhere but likely not in a group again. submitted by /u/SageSageofSages [link] [comments]
