Most of the tiers are self explanatory, but the affinity one is for groups I'm not as into anymore as I used to be but still have a soft spot for them and their members. submitted by /u/3-X-O [link] [comments]
I curate my twt tl so much so that I don't see rage bait posts and setup accounts but then I refresh reddit and can't seem to escape them. Someone here is posting a ss every minute lol. I don't wanna leave because there are interesting discussions here and there but this sub is hella unmoderated and I think they need to uppen the karma requirement to participate in this sub. It's filled with low effort posts Can't we keep things separate pleaseee. submitted by /u/pinkbraboo [link] [comments]

i know i know, kpop is just korean pop. there’s not much different other than language (except i’d argue that it’s not just that but the neither here nor there.) in recent years, we’ve seen a rapid rise in not just english-heavy songs, but english heavy albums. for example, Jung Kook’s “GOLDEN” is an album entirely in english. from its production to writing, the album was crafted as a textbook POP album. yet it’s almost always placed in the kpop genre. i understand it’s kpop by association but nothing in the albums production scream KPOP. it’s clean. 3 of the blackpink girls have also put out kpop albums. their albums, like jungkook’s were produced and written entirely in english with western producers and creatives. the albums were all conceived with western promotions in mind. yet their albums have not been placed under kpop categories as far as i can tell. even twice’s new album, which is 14 tracks, is entirely in english except for like 3 songs. yet it’s also categorized as a kpop album. personally i categorize english singles/albums under two titles. kpop songs that are in english, and western-songs sung by kpop acts. so for example, lisa, jennie, rosé, and jung kook’s albums are western albums by kpop acts. twice’s “this is for” is a kpop album in english. idk let’s discuss yall. please no hate or anything though, i just want this to be a fun convo. submitted by /u/Outrageous-Ad7806 [link] [comments]

I’m going to preface this by saying I have nothing personally against these girls even if it comes across that way. I’m going to try and keep my language neutral as possible. Please do not shout at me lol So - what is actually happening with blackpinks deadline tour?? For starters, I’ve seen loads of videos of Jennie giving low energy (I know this isn’t exactly new but you’d think after three years she’d be rested up?) and then giving everything she’s got for that solo stage. Not to mention her stopping completely at one show for a bit. I do understand her in ear isn’t working in that clip and it was only for like ten seconds but you’ve been performing this song for how many years now?? You could at least know the choreo enough to try. Rosé isn’t doing anything in particular - nothinh wrong but nothing great. She’s sort of just present. It’s like for her its just work and i get that IT IS just work for her but tickets are way overpriced anyway - i feel like its unfair for the fans to not have their idols putting in more energy. Lisa’s stage presence and energy is always great so no faults there, but she’s not actually singing most of her lines. Jisoo is the only one who really seems to care. She’s never been the most talented dancer in the group but at least she’s dancing AND singing like its meaningful. Overall, the tour doesn’t scream ‘artistry’ or ‘making a comeback’. It just seems like another cash grab and the girls’ energy’s are un synced and some of the girls are being inconsistent. If they’d had a lot of recent activity as a group then I’d understand why they’re tired but its been THREE years since they’ve worked as a group. Yes theres been solo activities but Lisa and Jennie are self managed, jisoo has had one EP and Rosé didn’t do many promotions apart from apt. Its not like YG’s pressing them at this point. submitted by /u/Responsible_Job_1660 [link] [comments]
Jimin's vocals are so raw and unique, he easily outsings many kpop artist. Anyone who disagrees clearly doesn't know what talent is submitted by /u/Imaginary-Cup-7098 [link] [comments]

Although I say this none of their music appeals to me. (Except for XLOV I suppose, they came with something interesting) What has inspired me to write this post is well, competition. H2H and Kiikii are neck and neck. For bgs it's AHOF, Kickflip and Close your eyes. I don't think we are getting a clean sweep this year from anyone, especially with bhnbg and smnbg coming but regardless, are you guys as intrigued as I am? submitted by /u/AggravatingListen188 [link] [comments]
I’ve been a long time kpop fan of a variety of different groups but only recently have it gotta full stop into Ateez and Stray Kids to the point of buying their light stick and merch. Just this weekend I visited a store in New York and figured it would be fun to buy a pack of cards each. I was not expecting to love them so much. They are just little cards! Now I want many more and I’m not sure what to do from here. Is there specific etiquette about PCs that I don’t know about? Where are good places to get more? Does it matter if they are official or not? submitted by /u/Qilincreations [link] [comments]

This isn't meant to be another XG/Katseye. My focus is on Blackswan and their public reception (particularly from ifans). In 2022 Blackswan had a lineup change leaving Fatou and Leia (who would leave like a year after the predebut) as the only OG members. Once almost all the OG members left, Dr Ent rebranded with new members NVee, Gabi and Sriya alongside the two remaining original members. The lineup was met with a lot of controversy, particularly towards the members status as a kpop group. Most kpop fans claimed that Blackswan was not a kpop group despite operating like one and making music in the genre and language. Why? On the sole basis that they were not Korean (which the members have stated mainly came from ifans not knetz, I'm sure they received criticism from knetz but the vast majority of it came from ifans). That very same year though XG debuted and a few months later had their first viral song in June with "Mascara". When "Mascara" blew up a lot of eyes were on XG and how they operated, subsequently despite not labeling themselves as such they were referred to as a kpop group or kpop adjacent. XG do not refer to themselves as a kpop group, neither do their fans or their company and yet they still got that label. XG is an all Japanese group. There is one member, Hinata, who is half Korean but most people that know that Hinata is half Korean are alphaz and alphaz don't consider XG to be a kpop group while the people that only view XG as an all Japanese group view XG as a kpop group. Fast forward a two years and Katseye debuts after their survival show. The group has members from many different nationalities with only one Korean member. Like XG Katseye do not view themselves as a kpop group, neither do their fans their company. Still the kpop label is pushed onto them. The opposite is true for Blackswan. The members view themselves as a kpop group, so do their fans and company. Yet kpop fans do not see them as a kpop group. Despite the fact that the very same reason fans use to justify calling XG and Katseye a kpop group applying to them as well. They promote in a kpop style. They're under a Korean company. They went through kpop style training (this is only half true for XG) Their staff and the people they work with are Korean (which is only half true for XG and Katseye) And yet people still consider XG and Katseye kpop or at least kpop adjacent but not Blackswan. The no Koreans thing doesn't make sense to me, Katseye only have one Korean member out of six, XG only has a half Korean member that most people don't even know is half Korean. submitted by /u/ElectronicPianist857 [link] [comments]
