4.377. Why do Kpop groups only hold concerts in Seoul and not any other cities in South Korea?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hoshi x Woozi held their Warning concert shows in Busan in the weekend (19th/20th) and you could clearly see how much it meant to them both to be in Busan performing, especially Woozi since Busan is his hometown. It got me thinking about how I've never seen any kpop groups holding concerts in any other cities in SK apart from Seoul, in fact the only one I remember is BTS 5th Muster - Magic shop show in Busan back in 2019. I'm guessing it's because Seoul has bigger venues and it's easier for fans to travel too, ect but seeing how genuinely happy Woozi was and him saying he wanted to come back with Seventeen just made me think about how other idols have or will probably never get to experience performing in front of fans from their hometown? In fact one of my favourite things is when Artists/bands have concerts in their home country/town and just how much they love it. I feel like kpop idols should get to experience that too. submitted by /u/kiwigal1715 [link] [comments]

4.380. Do you want/have a partner who likes kpop as much as you?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm single, and I had a thought cross my mind the other day that brought up a few questions. The biggest one was do you want to be with someone who stans kpop as much as you do? Here's the thing, for a relationship to be happy and healthy, we don't need our partners to be into everything we're into. Everyone should have their own interests and hobbies that aren't dependent on another person. I think it's important that a partner be open to listening and learning about their SO interests, but they don't have to be a fan. Plus, even if they're into kpop it wouldn't necessarily mean they like the same groups or idols as you. Still, having the commonality of a shared interest is probably nice. BUT, I was considering a hypothetical. What if I got in a relationship with someone who stans their own bias as hard as I stan mine. How would that feel. Would their be jealousy? Would it cause insecurity? I could spend a whole day happily looking at videos of my bias, talking online about current events surrounding my groups, and just basically fan-girling about my ults. Would I want to be with someone who did the same? Warning: I'm thinking of this in a very hetero-normative mindset. Basically, would I want to be with a guy whose "happy place" is thinking and talking about a female idol continuously? Would I truly trust that he's into me if his ult is a physical representation of a body/beauty/skill/ level I could only hope to achieve? Would I be afraid that they didn't love me as much as they love their idols? I think I know the answer: 1: There is a big difference between liking/stanning an idol and being OBSESSED with one. Any hobby that consumes your entire personality and affects your IRL relationships probably isn't healthy and should be re-accessed. 2. Fixing internal insecurities is not the job of a significant other and the onus is on you to deconstruct your own internal thinking. 3. Communication and real life expectations are key to keeping yourself grounded in any relationship. Idols and called IDOLS for a reason and you can't superimpose unrealistic standards on yourself or your partner. BOTH partners need to deeply internalize this for a functional relationship. All of that aside, what have been your experiences or expectations with dating a kpop fan? submitted by /u/Good-Fruit8288 [link] [comments]

4.381. What 2nd/3rd gen group do you think would have been cancelled if TikTok/ wider K-pop attention was around?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It’s well known idols have to behave in a certain way now, not just because of TikTok but it does play a big part in dissecting everything idols do. Personally I’d say SNSD - they had so many mean girl allegations between members, which isn’t me hating because they were all massively talented but I think fancams of them would have been torn to shreds Second choice is bigbang - seungri was put up with most of the time, occasionally liked. If he wasn’t an awful person, and if he was a 4th/5th gen idol, people would be calling mistreatment - defo not defending that POS don’t get me wrong 😂 submitted by /u/jakylln [link] [comments]

4.387. when does it stop being “kpop” and starts being just “pop”

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i know i know, kpop is just korean pop. there’s not much different other than language (except i’d argue that it’s not just that but the neither here nor there.) in recent years, we’ve seen a rapid rise in not just english-heavy songs, but english heavy albums. for example, Jung Kook’s “GOLDEN” is an album entirely in english. from its production to writing, the album was crafted as a textbook POP album. yet it’s almost always placed in the kpop genre. i understand it’s kpop by association but nothing in the albums production scream KPOP. it’s clean. 3 of the blackpink girls have also put out kpop albums. their albums, like jungkook’s were produced and written entirely in english with western producers and creatives. the albums were all conceived with western promotions in mind. yet their albums have not been placed under kpop categories as far as i can tell. even twice’s new album, which is 14 tracks, is entirely in english except for like 3 songs. yet it’s also categorized as a kpop album. personally i categorize english singles/albums under two titles. kpop songs that are in english, and western-songs sung by kpop acts. so for example, lisa, jennie, rosé, and jung kook’s albums are western albums by kpop acts. twice’s “this is for” is a kpop album in english. idk let’s discuss yall. please no hate or anything though, i just want this to be a fun convo. submitted by /u/Outrageous-Ad7806 [link] [comments]

4.389. Deadline tour - whats going on??

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’m going to preface this by saying I have nothing personally against these girls even if it comes across that way. I’m going to try and keep my language neutral as possible. Please do not shout at me lol So - what is actually happening with blackpinks deadline tour?? For starters, I’ve seen loads of videos of Jennie giving low energy (I know this isn’t exactly new but you’d think after three years she’d be rested up?) and then giving everything she’s got for that solo stage. Not to mention her stopping completely at one show for a bit. I do understand her in ear isn’t working in that clip and it was only for like ten seconds but you’ve been performing this song for how many years now?? You could at least know the choreo enough to try. Rosé isn’t doing anything in particular - nothinh wrong but nothing great. She’s sort of just present. It’s like for her its just work and i get that IT IS just work for her but tickets are way overpriced anyway - i feel like its unfair for the fans to not have their idols putting in more energy. Lisa’s stage presence and energy is always great so no faults there, but she’s not actually singing most of her lines. Jisoo is the only one who really seems to care. She’s never been the most talented dancer in the group but at least she’s dancing AND singing like its meaningful. Overall, the tour doesn’t scream ‘artistry’ or ‘making a comeback’. It just seems like another cash grab and the girls’ energy’s are un synced and some of the girls are being inconsistent. If they’d had a lot of recent activity as a group then I’d understand why they’re tired but its been THREE years since they’ve worked as a group. Yes theres been solo activities but Lisa and Jennie are self managed, jisoo has had one EP and Rosé didn’t do many promotions apart from apt. Its not like YG’s pressing them at this point. submitted by /u/Responsible_Job_1660 [link] [comments]
