28. Which part of the world is the most neglected by HYBE groups for concerts? Europe, Canada, South America or Australia/New Zealand?

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I am not counting Africa because they are neglected by everyone. It's not unique to HYBE. Having said that, I am genuinely curious what you think. I think all the regions I mentioned in the title have a good argument to be considered the most neglected by HYBE. In my biased Aussie opinion, I think Australian fans feel the most neglected by HYBE. I don't recall a HYBE group coming to do a concert in Australia. submitted by /u/Ruler_J [link] [comments]

30. What do you think should be done to make send-offs more worth the price? What should the standard be?

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Note: I am too poor to personally experience send-off. My thoughts are just based off clips I've seen from LE SSERAFIM's US tour. From what I have seen online, the send-off interactions I have seen on LE SSERAFIM's US tour have been wholesome and respectful. It's like a hi-touch, but much more interactive. I genuinely felt so good for the fans that got a chance to speak with them, or get selfies with them. But this seems to be the exception and not the norm. I have seen many comments and posts talking about how send-off is not worth it and really disappointing for the price you pay. So I feel like there should be some basic standard for send-offs. It seems that every company and group does send-offs differently, so I think it would be nice if there was a bit more consistency so fans know what to expect. Are send-offs currently worth it? What should be done to make send-offs more worth it? submitted by /u/Ruler_J [link] [comments]

32. CORTIS is really doing well and I want to talk about them!

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

CORTIS have been doing really well and I just wanted to highlight some of their achievements and also share some of my thoughts about the group. Their album Color Outside the Lines was released on September 8. On Spotify: Their album debuted with 18M streams in the first week, the highest for any 5th gen boy group. Reached a new peak of 5M monthly listeners. GO has been gaining 1M+ daily streams for close to a week. On Billboard Charts Their album debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 with 25.6k units, the highest for any 5th gen boy group. GO and Fashion debuted on Billboard Excl. US at #136 and #198 respectively. GO debuted on the Billboard Global 200 at 180. On the Billboard Artist 100 chart, CORTIS debuted at #24. Fashion ranked #9 on World Digital Song Sales. GO has also been steadily rising on Melon. It finally entered the Top 100 of the Melon Daily Chart recently, and yesterday, it peaked in the 70's on the Melon Top 100 chart. The official music show promotions for GO were supposed to be over, but they performed the song again on Inkigayo last week. Now, BigHit has announced they will extend the promotions with an extra week this week. Now, before people start saying things like “Obviously, they are doing well, they are from HYBE, they are from BigHit, they are linked to BTS, and whatnot,” all of that is true. But there is no denying that CORTIS debuted with songs that received polarizing and mixed reactions from most K-pop stans. Because they were the first group from BigHit in six years, there was a lot of expectation from them. And when GO was released, safe to say, most people were more disappointed than not. What You Want even garnered more mixed reactions. It wasn’t until GO started going semi-viral on TikTok and CORTIS started releasing content, performing the song, and gaining fans, that people began to warm up to it. I want to say that their BigHit team was really smart in how they drummed up hype for the album release, especially since there was about a three-week gap from when they released GO on YouTube and when the full album dropped. First, They dropped GO and started performing it on music shows and promoting it The sound + dance challenge started going semi-viral on TikTok Then they released What You Want and started promoting that They released a documentary, and the intro song to each episode was a snippet of what was gonna be the 3rd promoted track Fashion. The snippet started doing rounds and getting hyped In the doc, they also teased another b-side Joy Ride. This was the most general-public-friendly, soulful ballady type of song and from then people already started anticipating this song too On the day the album was released, they dropped the music video for Fashion (which was insane, by the way), so it felt like a new single released along with the album. Obviously, GO debuted with high streams and the streams have continued to rise, but people are not just listening to GO alone, they are listening to the entire album. Proof: Here are the daily streams for the album on its 13th day: What You Want: 387,022 What You Want (ft. Teezo): 149,842 GO!: 1,134,134 FaSHioN: 840,495 JoyRide: 399,806 Lullaby: 155,001 Promoting Fashion on music shows made the song even more well-liked. To begin with, the boys are wonderful performers and their performance was what sold the song for many people. The choreo is fire and their energy is fire when performing! They are also building a really solid fanbase. People are not just checking their songs, but also watching their content and engaging with it. This is partly because the group has really fun dynamics. One sentiment I’ve seen about why people like them is that they "act like teenagers". They're loud, messy, goofy, silly, and a bit chaotic in a fun way and that’s exactly what makes them feel so real and likable. A lot of this also comes down to how BigHit has conceptualized and marketed the group. CORTIS is positioned as a crew of young, talented creators teenagers who are actively involved in making their own choreos, songs, and content. That concept is carried through in every part of their branding. Whether it’s their music, styling, make-up, behind-the-scenes clips, or vlogs, they’re not portrayed as flawless, godlike idols. Instead, they come across as cool, creative, down-to-earth teens who are living their lives, while doing what they love. Their documentary, their vlogs, their dance practices, and other behind-the-scenes content all tie into that same authentic, down-to-earth image. Plus, the members themselves are super fun and easy to like. Their group dynamic is really tight. They come across like a bunch of close friends just messing around. Even their tiktoks too are funny and goofy. submitted by /u/ilovemeeeeee [link] [comments]

33. Not Enough People Are Talking about Chanelle at Hoyoland (GENSHIN)

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So for those that don't know, Fifty Fifty's Chanelle (who was also on R U Next!) is going to appear as a guest to sing(?) at Korea's Hoyoland event, specifically in the Genshin Impact section. Genshin Impact is perhaps the biggest gacha game at the moment and hugely popular in Asia, and to me, this is a huge opportunity for Chanelle. Fifty Fifty isn't quite mainstream at the moment and isn't under a big company, and a lot of international kpop fans are against them. I'm shocked she managed to bag this opportunity but I'm so happy she did (as a Genshin fan, too! Bummed I can't go to Korea tho 😭) It's probably great promo for their October comeback, too. Her vocals are guaranteed to be insane - I wonder what she will be singing though, I'm not sure how it works. submitted by /u/Far-Squirrel5021 [link] [comments]

36. Worst possible idols to play the roles of Kpop demon hunters

  • 7 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

When the movie "Kpop Demon Hunters" was released there was a lot of discussions regarding who would be a Demon Hunter and who would be demons. Some people argued, for example, whether 2en1 were a demon girl group and SNSD were the demon hunters, all was harmless fun. But I was thinking not who would make the best demon hunter or demon boy/girl group, but who would make the worst. I have some ideas: JYP - He would probably be a more or less good demon hunter but imagine him playing the part of the Saja Boys, not Gwi-Ma, the Saja Boys. I don't imagine him being actually capable of stealing souls with "When We Disco" or "Fever". Most of the people's reaction would probably that one Jackson Wang's face. NCT Dream (but during the debut era) - They'd probably still be able to steal souls if they were demons due to their cuteness but I can't imagine them as demon hunters, get those poor kids out of the battlefield. Rain - Unlike JYP I actually believe that he would have been a great demon if he was in the Saja Boys position, especially when he was young. But as a demon hunter? Nah, man is too inconsistent, he abandoned two boy groups what makes you think he would stick to try and hunt demons, maybe once in a blue moon but with him and only him humanity would be doomed. Taeyong - I just think he's way too nice to try and steal anyone's soul. Would probably be a great demon hunter though. Key and Minho - They would probably be great Saja Boys individually but I honestly think they would accidentally start discussing their evil demon plans if they were together or maybe they would blow up their cover because Key was really done with Minho or some3of the sort. Either way I believe their plans would fail in a random comedic way. submitted by /u/Ch_ch_chewing_gum [link] [comments]

1) Comment only 1 girl per country along with a picture. 2) They DO NOT have to be from a K-Pop group specifically, but they do have to be from a girl group! 3) Bi-racial idols are allowed, however, if they win for one category, they are ineligible for another. 4) Votes will be calculated after 24 hours. For the rest round, we’re looking for a representative for an Asian country NOT already listed in the graph above! Minnie from i-dle is our Thai representative! South Korea: Jihyo (TWICE) The Philippines: Sophia (KATSEYE) Mainland China: Yuqi (i-dle) Thailand: Minnie (i-dle) Once we complete this chart, we’ll do the same with a boy group! submitted by /u/sailormusic [link] [comments]

41. Why Talking About Plastic Surgery in K-pop is Still So Taboo

  • 9 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Every time the topic of plastic surgery in K-pop comes up, it turns into the same cycle: someone points out that an idol looks different from their pre-debut days, and immediately people rush to shut it down. “It’s just makeup!” “It’s puberty!” “They lost weight!” Sure, those things can change how someone looks, but let’s be real, they don’t completely change the shape of someone’s nose or jawline, for example. Makeup is powerful, and puberty can definitely glow someone up, but there’s a limit. Eyeliner can make your eyes look bigger, contouring can make your nose look slimmer, and weight loss can sharpen your jawline. But none of that explains a brand-new nose bridge or a jaw that looks surgically reshaped. And it’s not just K-pop. Western celebrities get procedures done all the time. Nose jobs, fillers, botox, you name it. Fans might joke about it or speculate, but it’s not treated like some huge insult. In K-pop, though, even hinting at it can get you labeled as disrespectful or a “hater.” It’s like people want to hold onto the fantasy that every idol is 100% natural. But here’s the reality: Korea is one of the plastic surgery capitals of the world. Looks matter a lot there, not just in entertainment, but in everyday life. People literally get procedures done right after high school because they know appearance can give them an edge in college admissions, job interviews, and even dating. When competition is that intense, surgery is just another tool to stay ahead. Now put that in the context of the idol industry, where visuals are part of the package. Companies know that “looking the part” sells. That’s why so many idols already look different in their pre-debut photos, because a lot of them had procedures done before they even had a chance to debut. It makes them more likely to stand out and get picked. So when fans say “It’s just puberty” as a blanket explanation, it’s kind of missing the point. Sure, natural changes happen, but they don’t completely overhaul someone’s face. What we’re seeing with idols is usually a mix of things: makeup, styling, diet, AND surgery. Denying that just creates this fake standard of “effortless beauty” that’s impossible to live up to, for idols and for fans. At the end of the day, plastic surgery isn’t some horrible secret. It’s a choice, and in industries where looks matter, it’s almost expected. The problem isn’t that idols do it: it’s that fans either shame them for it or act like it could never happen. Both reactions just add more pressure to an already intense environment. submitted by /u/Odd-Cat02 [link] [comments]
