Why is everyone making a fuss about GAP's 2025 jeans campaign? I've been reading it was a clapback aimed towards American Eagle's latest jean campaign, which lowkey implied that white blonde people have good genes, it had a eugenics nuance. Even so, marketing campaigns with such a global group I assume would take months of preparation, GAP couldn't have possibly pulled this off immediately after Sydney's campaign, if the clapback was intentional. I think people are linking the two just to keep American Eagle relevant in 2025. Because l've never heard of Sydney! And American Eagle is not on everyone's radar when it comes to jeans! If anything, I think AE was following the same route LEVI'S took with Beyonce and her jeans collection. Sydney's ad is very close to Beyonce's: silent, "effortless", implying something something. In the end AE approached this new campaign in the worst way possible, and with the worst possible message. What's your take on it? submitted by /u/Individual_Tip_696 [link] [comments]
