I don't know if anyone else may agree with this, but I've speculated for a while, and I feel like a lot of the company's and labels that kpop groups are under cater more to delusional fans over the sane ones. Explanation: I know it may be a bit hard to differentiate between the lowkey creepy and disrespectful fans over the normal ones, but delusional and obsessive fans definitely bring in more money to these company's. They're willing to buy every album/merch product and go to every concert, event, and fan meet they can find. The whole kpop industry is practically built off of the oversexualization and infantilization of grown idols. That's why teenage fans will call a man in his 20s their "baby" and get ridiculously mad when an idol is merely near a person of the opposite gender. Companys will contantly post these roleplay videos of idols pretending to be your boyfriend or doing aegyo, and they don't even let idols date publicly, and even kick them out of their groups when they get into relationships. Anything to keep people in the fandom. They may claim they're protecting them, but if thats the case then why have so many idols had literal stalker fans in their hotel rooms with them or in their houses? Why are groups getting mobbed horribly in airports every week? Point being, it would be cool if the kpop fandom could take a stand and get rid of the fans that ruin it for everyone, but sadly that will probably never be done. The delusion causes harm not only to the idols, but to fans as well. I dont think its healthy to believe that a famous person loves you. We're almost in 2026 though, so somethings gotta give 😂 I wanna know what other people think 🤷🏾♀️ submitted by /u/girlwith_wheels [link] [comments]

recently got into ADP after hearing alot about them and i can't help but notice the gap in Youngseo's and Annie's skills. Their trainee period is almost the same (Youngseo-6 and Annie-5). Youngseo is the perfect GG member in every aspect. She has everything down from SP to nailing her parts down live. I find her so eye catching as a performer. She isn't very detailed with footwork but looking at some runext performances she might just be holding back idk. Anyways near perfect, dream trainee for companies probably. It might be her age at one point that made her debut not possible after she left illit. And then I see annie and i find her weak as a performer when I see her on stage and also stiff specially in the last chorus of famous. Even shaky vocals wise? I thought she might be fairly new so probably 2 years of training but turns out it's 5. It's TBL so I was expecting for her to have atleast one of Rapping/dancing/SP nailed. From the survival shows that I have watched one thing trainees with long trainee periods have is stability. You can reply on them and know there's a set standard for them which is higher than everyone because they are experienced and more desperate (Yunah is the most recent one I can think of). So is this a company difference or individual difference? Side note- Woochan with rapping is really strong looking forward to other verses that he has. submitted by /u/Additional-Buy-5663 [link] [comments]

I’m located in Canada and really wanna buy some albums (specifically StrayKids) but wanna know the safest places to buy from. I really don’t want to get scammed and I used to use the JYPShop but heard somewhere that they’re shutting down/moving. I recently found KpopAlbums and was wondering if they were any good or if there were better/safer options? submitted by /u/OliverAmith [link] [comments]

Hello everyone! We are excited to rate some of the biggest songs of the year so far with the "First Half of 2025" Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Deadline for this rate is Monday, September 15th, by 11:59 PM Pacific (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Upcoming Monthly Releases to comb through all K-Pop releases from the second half of the year. From there, we examined multiple factors: how many upvotes the MV received on r/kpop, how many Spotify streams a song has, how popular the artist is overall and on Reddit, overall balance, and several other factors. Once a tentative songlist was decided, we have asked for feedback on our Discord server and have later hosted a songlist feedback thread on /r/kpoprates. The feedback from this survey was weighed alongside the aforementioned statistics to determine the final songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 60 songs (and 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically by release date: . January: BOYNEXTDOOR - If I Say, I Love You Gfriend - Season of Memories BSS - CBZ (Prime Time) IVE - Rebel Heart GOT7 - Python ZEROBASEONE - Doctor! Doctor! PLAVE - Dash ONE PACT - 100! NouerA - N.I.N (New Is Now) ME:I - Muse Xdinary Heroes - Beautiful Life from20 - Eye Candy Younite - Rock Steady . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Saja Boys - Soda Pop: 9.5 Wait, guys, isn’t Feel the Pop a 2024A song? This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: Link to Reddit Chat to send in scores As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/kpoprates_ghost. Google Docs ballot template Pastebin ballot template If the private message link is not working (or your private message exceeds the character count), please use the Google Doc template (make a copy of it to your Google Drive) for your ballot and DM it to u/kpoprates_ghost. If you message us a link to your Google Doc, PLEASE double check your permissions so that "anyone who has the link can view the document" (since the default is otherwise). Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @kawaii_mokona and @kirakiranatsu. There is also a Google Sheets Spreadsheet Template that you can make a copy of to calculate the averages of your scores. You can also submit the top/bottom 5 prediction form at any time. DUE DATE: Monday, September 15th, by 11:59 PM Pacific - This will be the FINAL deadline, no extensions will be given this time! (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.) REVEAL DATES (Reveals will take place on /r/kpoprates as well as the r/kpoprates Discord: https://discord.gg/j3wCF43x) Day 1 - September 20th (Saturday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here) Day 2 - September 21st (Sunday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here) We also encourage you to participate in the ongoing Early Gen 3 Boy Groups Rate! Thanks! submitted by /u/KpopRates [link] [comments]
i felt the impulse to talk about this because i see a lot of negativity towards the 5th gen. a lot of people act like groups nowadays aren't as talented or like the music has had some sort of downgrade, when the problem is more about trends changing and people outgrowing them. a lot of comments i see come from older fans who i know can't be keeping up with the newer generation, because i feel like there's no way we're talking about the same groups. i'm 27 years old and a 2nd gen stan, and i feel like the 5th gen brings back a lot of staple elements from that era. personally, i'm drawn to the fresh, youthful and bright concepts which remind me a lot of 2nd gen, and there's also a lot of silliness and quirkiness to concepts which i haven't seen in a while. i honestly don't think i've enjoyed kpop as much as i do now in a very long time, or at least popular kpop groups. after stanning boynextdoor last year, i also got into a lot of 5th gen groups with lovely, talented members and great music. i would love to hear about your favorite 5th gen groups and idols, why you like them and what songs by them you would recommend, or anything else you would like to say about them 🫶🏻 submitted by /u/kozzzume [link] [comments]

I wanted to start a little conversation here: think of any bias, just one Idol, and share something you’ve noticed about them that maybe isn’t a super popular or widely shared opinion online, but you think it’s worth highlighting. It could be: A personal story you learned about them A particular achievement A small habit or personality trait you’ve picked up on over time Basically, something that makes them special in your eyes. I’ll start with mine, Jay from ENHYPEN. One of the things I admire the most about Jay is his ambition and his constant drive to learn and improve. Back in I-LAND, he became known from the very first episodes for volunteering to sing every part in the first song evaluation. He wasn’t chosen for parts 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, 6, 7... but he kept raising his hand, ready to try for each one, even if the other trainees didn’t pick him for any. In the end, he got a small part, but he put aside any pride or frustration to show proactiveness and willingness until the very last moment. Another thing that stuck with me: during I-LAND, Jay thought he might be eliminated halfway through the program. I loved seeing how he opened up to the other trainees by writing them handwritten letters, even when his entire hand was swollen from a bee sting. He wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable, even crying in front of others. Being a boy/man, I think that makes him stand out as someone who isn't afraid of showing his vulnerable side. I think part of this comes from him being an only child with both parents working. Among the trainees, yes, he was motivated by competition, but I believe he also truly valued building connections and treating others like family. You can really see that in the way he interacts with younger members like Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki. As an Idol now, it’s amazing how much he’s improved vocally. In I-LAND, vocals weren’t his standout skill, but now he takes the same parts as Heeseung in songs and is solidifying his place as a key vocalist alongside Heeseung and Sunoo. He’s also put a lot of work into learning guitar, improving so much that he’s collaborated with big names in Japan and even did an incredible Bon Jovi cover, playing and singing at the same time. On top of that, his focus on growth isn’t limited to music. Jay has also reached a good Japanese language level in ENHYPEN, second only to Ni-Ki (who’s Japanese himself). So… what about you? What’s that special personal perception you have about your bias that makes you appreciate them in a way not everyone talks about? submitted by /u/blancdeer [link] [comments]
I've always wanted to see a kpop group with a pop-punk or pop-rock concept. I'm not talking about a full on rock band but something more on the lines of Olivia Rodrigo, which is a pop artist that leans toward Pop-punk. I'd like to see a female kpop group specifically with a similar concept where they borrow elements from rock, punk and maybe even emo/goth aesthetic and not just for one album or two but long term. submitted by /u/Delicious112003 [link] [comments]
