Hello everyone! We are excited to rate some of the biggest songs of the year so far with the "First Half of 2025" Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Deadline for this rate is Monday, September 15th, by 11:59 PM Pacific (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Upcoming Monthly Releases to comb through all K-Pop releases from the second half of the year. From there, we examined multiple factors: how many upvotes the MV received on r/kpop, how many Spotify streams a song has, how popular the artist is overall and on Reddit, overall balance, and several other factors. Once a tentative songlist was decided, we have asked for feedback on our Discord server and have later hosted a songlist feedback thread on /r/kpoprates. The feedback from this survey was weighed alongside the aforementioned statistics to determine the final songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 60 songs (and 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically by release date: . January: BOYNEXTDOOR - If I Say, I Love You Gfriend - Season of Memories BSS - CBZ (Prime Time) IVE - Rebel Heart GOT7 - Python ZEROBASEONE - Doctor! Doctor! PLAVE - Dash ONE PACT - 100! NouerA - N.I.N (New Is Now) ME:I - Muse Xdinary Heroes - Beautiful Life from20 - Eye Candy Younite - Rock Steady . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no β 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Saja Boys - Soda Pop: 9.5 Wait, guys, isnβt Feel the Pop a 2024A song? This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: Link to Reddit Chat to send in scores As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/kpoprates_ghost. Google Docs ballot template Pastebin ballot template If the private message link is not working (or your private message exceeds the character count), please use the Google Doc template (make a copy of it to your Google Drive) for your ballot and DM it to u/kpoprates_ghost. If you message us a link to your Google Doc, PLEASE double check your permissions so that "anyone who has the link can view the document" (since the default is otherwise). Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @kawaii_mokona and @kirakiranatsu. There is also a Google Sheets Spreadsheet Template that you can make a copy of to calculate the averages of your scores. You can also submit the top/bottom 5 prediction form at any time. DUE DATE: Monday, September 15th, by 11:59 PM Pacific - This will be the FINAL deadline, no extensions will be given this time! (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.) REVEAL DATES (Reveals will take place on /r/kpoprates as well as the r/kpoprates Discord: https://discord.gg/j3wCF43x) Day 1 - September 20th (Saturday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here) Day 2 - September 21st (Sunday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here) We also encourage you to participate in the ongoing Early Gen 3 Boy Groups Rate! Thanks! submitted by /u/KpopRates [link] [comments]
i felt the impulse to talk about this because i see a lot of negativity towards the 5th gen. a lot of people act like groups nowadays aren't as talented or like the music has had some sort of downgrade, when the problem is more about trends changing and people outgrowing them. a lot of comments i see come from older fans who i know can't be keeping up with the newer generation, because i feel like there's no way we're talking about the same groups. i'm 27 years old and a 2nd gen stan, and i feel like the 5th gen brings back a lot of staple elements from that era. personally, i'm drawn to the fresh, youthful and bright concepts which remind me a lot of 2nd gen, and there's also a lot of silliness and quirkiness to concepts which i haven't seen in a while. i honestly don't think i've enjoyed kpop as much as i do now in a very long time, or at least popular kpop groups. after stanning boynextdoor last year, i also got into a lot of 5th gen groups with lovely, talented members and great music. i would love to hear about your favorite 5th gen groups and idols, why you like them and what songs by them you would recommend, or anything else you would like to say about them π«Άπ» submitted by /u/kozzzume [link] [comments]

I wanted to start a little conversation here: think of any bias, just one Idol, and share something youβve noticed about them that maybe isnβt a super popular or widely shared opinion online, but you think itβs worth highlighting. It could be: A personal story you learned about them A particular achievement A small habit or personality trait youβve picked up on over time Basically, something that makes them special in your eyes. Iβll start with mine, Jay from ENHYPEN. One of the things I admire the most about Jay is his ambition and his constant drive to learn and improve. Back in I-LAND, he became known from the very first episodes for volunteering to sing every part in the first song evaluation. He wasnβt chosen for parts 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, 6, 7... but he kept raising his hand, ready to try for each one, even if the other trainees didnβt pick him for any. In the end, he got a small part, but he put aside any pride or frustration to show proactiveness and willingness until the very last moment. Another thing that stuck with me: during I-LAND, Jay thought he might be eliminated halfway through the program. I loved seeing how he opened up to the other trainees by writing them handwritten letters, even when his entire hand was swollen from a bee sting. He wasnβt afraid to be vulnerable, even crying in front of others. Being a boy/man, I think that makes him stand out as someone who isn't afraid of showing his vulnerable side. I think part of this comes from him being an only child with both parents working. Among the trainees, yes, he was motivated by competition, but I believe he also truly valued building connections and treating others like family. You can really see that in the way he interacts with younger members like Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki. As an Idol now, itβs amazing how much heβs improved vocally. In I-LAND, vocals werenβt his standout skill, but now he takes the same parts as Heeseung in songs and is solidifying his place as a key vocalist alongside Heeseung and Sunoo. Heβs also put a lot of work into learning guitar, improving so much that heβs collaborated with big names in Japan and even did an incredible Bon Jovi cover, playing and singing at the same time. On top of that, his focus on growth isnβt limited to music. Jay has also reached a good Japanese language level in ENHYPEN, second only to Ni-Ki (whoβs Japanese himself). Soβ¦ what about you? Whatβs that special personal perception you have about your bias that makes you appreciate them in a way not everyone talks about? submitted by /u/blancdeer [link] [comments]
I've always wanted to see a kpop group with a pop-punk or pop-rock concept. I'm not talking about a full on rock band but something more on the lines of Olivia Rodrigo, which is a pop artist that leans toward Pop-punk. I'd like to see a female kpop group specifically with a similar concept where they borrow elements from rock, punk and maybe even emo/goth aesthetic and not just for one album or two but long term. submitted by /u/Delicious112003 [link] [comments]

Iβve attended 7 various K Pop documentaries or performances in movie theaters, and there seems to be fans that attend these shows that distribute small gift bags to attendees, have you experienced this? What is the coolest items you appreciated in one? I am making gift bags for fans of BTS, β Armyβ, these are larger bags, included in each one are 4 stickers of the group itself, Purple Heart stickers, purple lollipops, two purple little army toy men, a purple sour swirl, a purple glow stick, a purple bracelet, two candies from South Korea, 3 assorted Pictures of group, and purple Easter Egg Grass, in a purple bad with ribbons. I hope Army will love my Gift Bags! Iβm 70 and retired. I plan on bringing 50 to the next showβ¦ I myself, have 6 gift bags that I never opened. submitted by /u/Reasonable_Visual_10 [link] [comments]
Really, I don't understand it. There are many whoare feeling attacked as if their favorites will be forgotten because of it... The songs are good and appeal to a more general audience, so it's obvious they'll chart higher. But that doesn't make K-pop groups invisible or deprive them of anything, because at the end of the day, the awards aren't going to go to Huntr/x because the group doesn't exist (the singers do). It's a movie with a soundtrack, that's it. Stop getting angry and insulting people over the numbers. submitted by /u/_issio [link] [comments]

βββββββββββββββββ Hey everyone, today Yuju returns with her third mini album, one Iβve been excited ot hear. Since Yuju's debut as a solo artist, she has put out some fantastic music. I find her discography to be perfect, as she delivers vocals that pull me back to her music like crazy. Iβm sure this new project is from the singer. Now, letβs jump into the mini album and see what Yuju has brought to the table. βββββββββββββββββ https://preview.redd.it/y1ynr8t8rmif1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b6805e7b1d455967ef852fc043e60b0823a0020 In Bloom - Yuju μ€λ¦¬μ¨μ리 Yuju and Groovyroom produce the opening song on the album. A guitar and percussion open up the track, reminding me of a City-pop tune. The vocals from Yuju are excellent, as they are packed with emotion, opening up this album with a bang. The hook is a perfect addition to this tune, blending wonderfully with the singerβs performance. Another thing I love about this tune is the melody that fits the vibe of this tune, making it another perfect opener for a Yuju album. As I listen to this tune, I feel hopeful as the vibe of the track gives me that feeling. https://preview.redd.it/7ru8dpynrmif1.jpg?width=1900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c1169fe94d5506ca48e919f5fb341c22453a1b9 βββββββββ βββββββ REPLY The title track is the second song on the album, with its pop-rock sound. Yuju sounds fantastic over the percussion and guitars that craft the rock sound. The hook hits as itβs been pulling me back for more, as it gives me an indie vibe. Yuju puts on a performance packed with emotion that feels like an extension of the instrumental. REPLY is the perfect title track with some killer vocal moments from the singer that pack a punch in all directions. Iβm excited to have this tune on repeat as I know it will continue to impress me with each listen. https://preview.redd.it/ju802d6vrmif1.jpg?width=666&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cd1840a9ff57f31675e6027d846bba0ac23b6e3 βββββββββ βββββββ κ·Έλ μ μ¬κ±΄ (feat. JEONG SEWOON) The third track on the album is the first collaboration, teaming Yuju up with Jeong Sewoon. A jazzy piano opens up the track, clending wonderfully with the vocals from Yuju. I love how playful this tune sounds from the piano and the guitar melody. The violin in the instrumental was a nice touch, adding to the overall vibe. Jeong Sewoon comes into the second verse, fitting this tune perfectly as it feels like he's singing his own track. I love the moment when both artists sing together; it adds to the playful vibe that fits Yuju wonderfully. https://preview.redd.it/95j2ugg4smif1.jpg?width=1548&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfb3ab4f49e2028d0de8530e426fe91279d2f3ac βββββββββ βββββββ Moonstruck Love A guitar opens up the track with an indie vibe that smoothly moves the song. The vocals are soft, fitting the pop-rock vibe wonderfully as the singer hits some sweet notes. The hook has some emotion that hits the overall vibe. I love the piano melody that blends with the instrumental, adding to the overall vibe the producers crafted. I find that tracks with production that isnβt in your face work best with Yuju with best. https://preview.redd.it/jmguon59smif1.jpg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a486c3f02491b17e6150e52f10e9e7da036237d7 βββββββββ βββββββ No Matter (feat. GEMINI) The second collaboration on the album teams Yuju up with GEMINI as the track brings in an R&B vibe that fits Yuju. The guitar crafts the R&B vibe that blends wonderfully with Yujuβs performance, which might make this tune. Yuju sings mostly in English, sounding perfect with the lyrics. GEMINI comes in with a little rap that adds to the vibe, and we get some vocals from Yuju blending with GEMINI. I love this R&B vibe that blends with both artists, as the more I hear this tune more I become a fan of it. https://preview.redd.it/ycsnt3ilsmif1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=881af829814d2ece8488462d3e6da7404b4fb518 βββββββββ βββββββ ꡬλ¦μ κ±Έλ¦° λ Έμμ²λΌ The closing song on the album ends the project perfectly, bringing back the rock vibe. I love the vocals as Yuju fits this rock sound wonderfully, helping to end out the album in a strong direction. The hook is packed with emotion that you hear throughout the record. Yuju delivers a smooth performance that keeps this song from becoming uninteresting. I love how well this track closes out the record with a killer performance from the singer. https://preview.redd.it/ywbmv2zrsmif1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6eec8074a9759400c6a0a37d84f59aad68414f45 βββββββββββββββββ Summary: Yuju is back with a mini album that is packed with emotion as she provides vocals that keep all the songs interesting. I love how Yuju wrote the lyrics to this album and helped with production on some of the songs. Yuju keeps impressing me with each album as she continues to grow with her music and her artistry. Iβm glad we can keep getting more music from the singer. βββββββββββββββββ https://preview.redd.it/ccozz17wsmif1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2d062a9e0cc0cf88525365a07e0edfbbb4b4b55 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

Hello! We all know Seunghan, Shohei and Eunseok were planned to debut in NCT. Plans got changed, Seunghan and Eunseok were transfered to RIIZE and Shohei went on a hiatus because of his injury. But now, when Seunghan debuted again as a soloist, and Shohei has recovered, they could have debuted together. I mean, they are both great dancers, both have artistic vision, so it would be cool to see what they would create together and also Shohei is a rapper and Seunghan a vocalist, so they would complement each other so well! Plus MYTRO is not happening anymore and even if it was happening, it was not meant to a group, which would require Shohei to be busy with the group 24/7/365... So l have been wondering, is there any reason why SM did not go for this idea? The could have been like "modern TVXQ!" submitted by /u/WiseSmellyLegs [link] [comments]
Many Kpop fans donβt fully understand the meaning of "nugu". "Nugu" means "who" in Korean, it indicates that an artist is relatively unknown. Iβve noticed that many people refer to groups like Cherry Bullet, Purple Kiss, Weeekly, Billlie, Wooah, Lightsum, and Unis as nugu. When you compare these groups to well-known idols like IU, Blackpink, Twice, LE SSERAFIM, IVE, and ILLIT, it makes sense that they would appear nugu. Although Iβm not a bg stan, Iβve also seen people label XLOV as nugu, even though they are discussed by many people. Have you heard of HeyGirls, Hint, Posh Girls, Asome.D, Chicangel, Yellow Bee, FlaShe, P.O.P, DayDream, Kitten Girls, We Girls, ShaFLA, and Maywish? submitted by /u/radiant_Quartz47 [link] [comments]
