i felt the impulse to talk about this because i see a lot of negativity towards the 5th gen. a lot of people act like groups nowadays aren't as talented or like the music has had some sort of downgrade, when the problem is more about trends changing and people outgrowing them. a lot of comments i see come from older fans who i know can't be keeping up with the newer generation, because i feel like there's no way we're talking about the same groups. i'm 27 years old and a 2nd gen stan, and i feel like the 5th gen brings back a lot of staple elements from that era. personally, i'm drawn to the fresh, youthful and bright concepts which remind me a lot of 2nd gen, and there's also a lot of silliness and quirkiness to concepts which i haven't seen in a while. i honestly don't think i've enjoyed kpop as much as i do now in a very long time, or at least popular kpop groups. after stanning boynextdoor last year, i also got into a lot of 5th gen groups with lovely, talented members and great music. i would love to hear about your favorite 5th gen groups and idols, why you like them and what songs by them you would recommend, or anything else you would like to say about them 🫶🏻 submitted by /u/kozzzume [link] [comments]

I wanted to start a little conversation here: think of any bias, just one Idol, and share something you’ve noticed about them that maybe isn’t a super popular or widely shared opinion online, but you think it’s worth highlighting. It could be: A personal story you learned about them A particular achievement A small habit or personality trait you’ve picked up on over time Basically, something that makes them special in your eyes. I’ll start with mine, Jay from ENHYPEN. One of the things I admire the most about Jay is his ambition and his constant drive to learn and improve. Back in I-LAND, he became known from the very first episodes for volunteering to sing every part in the first song evaluation. He wasn’t chosen for parts 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, 6, 7... but he kept raising his hand, ready to try for each one, even if the other trainees didn’t pick him for any. In the end, he got a small part, but he put aside any pride or frustration to show proactiveness and willingness until the very last moment. Another thing that stuck with me: during I-LAND, Jay thought he might be eliminated halfway through the program. I loved seeing how he opened up to the other trainees by writing them handwritten letters, even when his entire hand was swollen from a bee sting. He wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable, even crying in front of others. Being a boy/man, I think that makes him stand out as someone who isn't afraid of showing his vulnerable side. I think part of this comes from him being an only child with both parents working. Among the trainees, yes, he was motivated by competition, but I believe he also truly valued building connections and treating others like family. You can really see that in the way he interacts with younger members like Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki. As an Idol now, it’s amazing how much he’s improved vocally. In I-LAND, vocals weren’t his standout skill, but now he takes the same parts as Heeseung in songs and is solidifying his place as a key vocalist alongside Heeseung and Sunoo. He’s also put a lot of work into learning guitar, improving so much that he’s collaborated with big names in Japan and even did an incredible Bon Jovi cover, playing and singing at the same time. On top of that, his focus on growth isn’t limited to music. Jay has also reached a good Japanese language level in ENHYPEN, second only to Ni-Ki (who’s Japanese himself). So… what about you? What’s that special personal perception you have about your bias that makes you appreciate them in a way not everyone talks about? submitted by /u/blancdeer [link] [comments]
I've always wanted to see a kpop group with a pop-punk or pop-rock concept. I'm not talking about a full on rock band but something more on the lines of Olivia Rodrigo, which is a pop artist that leans toward Pop-punk. I'd like to see a female kpop group specifically with a similar concept where they borrow elements from rock, punk and maybe even emo/goth aesthetic and not just for one album or two but long term. submitted by /u/Delicious112003 [link] [comments]

I’ve attended 7 various K Pop documentaries or performances in movie theaters, and there seems to be fans that attend these shows that distribute small gift bags to attendees, have you experienced this? What is the coolest items you appreciated in one? I am making gift bags for fans of BTS, “ Army”, these are larger bags, included in each one are 4 stickers of the group itself, Purple Heart stickers, purple lollipops, two purple little army toy men, a purple sour swirl, a purple glow stick, a purple bracelet, two candies from South Korea, 3 assorted Pictures of group, and purple Easter Egg Grass, in a purple bad with ribbons. I hope Army will love my Gift Bags! I’m 70 and retired. I plan on bringing 50 to the next show… I myself, have 6 gift bags that I never opened. submitted by /u/Reasonable_Visual_10 [link] [comments]
Really, I don't understand it. There are many whoare feeling attacked as if their favorites will be forgotten because of it... The songs are good and appeal to a more general audience, so it's obvious they'll chart higher. But that doesn't make K-pop groups invisible or deprive them of anything, because at the end of the day, the awards aren't going to go to Huntr/x because the group doesn't exist (the singers do). It's a movie with a soundtrack, that's it. Stop getting angry and insulting people over the numbers. submitted by /u/_issio [link] [comments]

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Hey everyone, today Yuju returns with her third mini album, one I’ve been excited ot hear. Since Yuju's debut as a solo artist, she has put out some fantastic music. I find her discography to be perfect, as she delivers vocals that pull me back to her music like crazy. I’m sure this new project is from the singer. Now, let’s jump into the mini album and see what Yuju has brought to the table. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/y1ynr8t8rmif1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b6805e7b1d455967ef852fc043e60b0823a0020 In Bloom - Yuju 오리온자리 Yuju and Groovyroom produce the opening song on the album. A guitar and percussion open up the track, reminding me of a City-pop tune. The vocals from Yuju are excellent, as they are packed with emotion, opening up this album with a bang. The hook is a perfect addition to this tune, blending wonderfully with the singer’s performance. Another thing I love about this tune is the melody that fits the vibe of this tune, making it another perfect opener for a Yuju album. As I listen to this tune, I feel hopeful as the vibe of the track gives me that feeling. https://preview.redd.it/7ru8dpynrmif1.jpg?width=1900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c1169fe94d5506ca48e919f5fb341c22453a1b9 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ REPLY The title track is the second song on the album, with its pop-rock sound. Yuju sounds fantastic over the percussion and guitars that craft the rock sound. The hook hits as it’s been pulling me back for more, as it gives me an indie vibe. Yuju puts on a performance packed with emotion that feels like an extension of the instrumental. REPLY is the perfect title track with some killer vocal moments from the singer that pack a punch in all directions. I’m excited to have this tune on repeat as I know it will continue to impress me with each listen. https://preview.redd.it/ju802d6vrmif1.jpg?width=666&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cd1840a9ff57f31675e6027d846bba0ac23b6e3 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 그날의 사건 (feat. JEONG SEWOON) The third track on the album is the first collaboration, teaming Yuju up with Jeong Sewoon. A jazzy piano opens up the track, clending wonderfully with the vocals from Yuju. I love how playful this tune sounds from the piano and the guitar melody. The violin in the instrumental was a nice touch, adding to the overall vibe. Jeong Sewoon comes into the second verse, fitting this tune perfectly as it feels like he's singing his own track. I love the moment when both artists sing together; it adds to the playful vibe that fits Yuju wonderfully. https://preview.redd.it/95j2ugg4smif1.jpg?width=1548&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfb3ab4f49e2028d0de8530e426fe91279d2f3ac ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Moonstruck Love A guitar opens up the track with an indie vibe that smoothly moves the song. The vocals are soft, fitting the pop-rock vibe wonderfully as the singer hits some sweet notes. The hook has some emotion that hits the overall vibe. I love the piano melody that blends with the instrumental, adding to the overall vibe the producers crafted. I find that tracks with production that isn’t in your face work best with Yuju with best. https://preview.redd.it/jmguon59smif1.jpg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a486c3f02491b17e6150e52f10e9e7da036237d7 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ No Matter (feat. GEMINI) The second collaboration on the album teams Yuju up with GEMINI as the track brings in an R&B vibe that fits Yuju. The guitar crafts the R&B vibe that blends wonderfully with Yuju’s performance, which might make this tune. Yuju sings mostly in English, sounding perfect with the lyrics. GEMINI comes in with a little rap that adds to the vibe, and we get some vocals from Yuju blending with GEMINI. I love this R&B vibe that blends with both artists, as the more I hear this tune more I become a fan of it. https://preview.redd.it/ycsnt3ilsmif1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=881af829814d2ece8488462d3e6da7404b4fb518 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 구름에 걸린 노을처럼 The closing song on the album ends the project perfectly, bringing back the rock vibe. I love the vocals as Yuju fits this rock sound wonderfully, helping to end out the album in a strong direction. The hook is packed with emotion that you hear throughout the record. Yuju delivers a smooth performance that keeps this song from becoming uninteresting. I love how well this track closes out the record with a killer performance from the singer. https://preview.redd.it/ywbmv2zrsmif1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6eec8074a9759400c6a0a37d84f59aad68414f45 ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Summary: Yuju is back with a mini album that is packed with emotion as she provides vocals that keep all the songs interesting. I love how Yuju wrote the lyrics to this album and helped with production on some of the songs. Yuju keeps impressing me with each album as she continues to grow with her music and her artistry. I’m glad we can keep getting more music from the singer. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/ccozz17wsmif1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2d062a9e0cc0cf88525365a07e0edfbbb4b4b55 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

Hello! We all know Seunghan, Shohei and Eunseok were planned to debut in NCT. Plans got changed, Seunghan and Eunseok were transfered to RIIZE and Shohei went on a hiatus because of his injury. But now, when Seunghan debuted again as a soloist, and Shohei has recovered, they could have debuted together. I mean, they are both great dancers, both have artistic vision, so it would be cool to see what they would create together and also Shohei is a rapper and Seunghan a vocalist, so they would complement each other so well! Plus MYTRO is not happening anymore and even if it was happening, it was not meant to a group, which would require Shohei to be busy with the group 24/7/365... So l have been wondering, is there any reason why SM did not go for this idea? The could have been like "modern TVXQ!" submitted by /u/WiseSmellyLegs [link] [comments]
Many Kpop fans don’t fully understand the meaning of "nugu". "Nugu" means "who" in Korean, it indicates that an artist is relatively unknown. I’ve noticed that many people refer to groups like Cherry Bullet, Purple Kiss, Weeekly, Billlie, Wooah, Lightsum, and Unis as nugu. When you compare these groups to well-known idols like IU, Blackpink, Twice, LE SSERAFIM, IVE, and ILLIT, it makes sense that they would appear nugu. Although I’m not a bg stan, I’ve also seen people label XLOV as nugu, even though they are discussed by many people. Have you heard of HeyGirls, Hint, Posh Girls, Asome.D, Chicangel, Yellow Bee, FlaShe, P.O.P, DayDream, Kitten Girls, We Girls, ShaFLA, and Maywish? submitted by /u/radiant_Quartz47 [link] [comments]

My friend a few weeks ago reintroduced me to K Pop again and she’s been trying to educate me on how the K Pop community works. There’s like voting, PC’s, apps you can get to communicate with the group, live feeds, different versions of each album, variety shows, and I’m sure I’m missing a lot of other things. All of this tends to be and issue especially being a baby Atiny. I find this all seems really confusing and hard. I want to participate but don’t know how to even start. I did recently get on an Ateez discord for Atiny’s to try and educate myself but it’s a little (more like a lot) overwhelming. Let me know how you guys keep up with all the stuff in the community. submitted by /u/Friendly_Ad5395 [link] [comments]

does anyone else feel weird as an older kpop fan ? it's hard to get into newer gen groups because stanning someone who's younger than me just feels so awkward to me if that makes sense ? idk if im overthinking it or whatever but 😓 for example Iroha from ILLIT was born in 2008 and that just feels so young to me. Does this make any sense? submitted by /u/sillycatrat [link] [comments]
I’m confused about blinks and Jennie Solo and their selective amnesia about Jennie relationships. Why do Jennie fans try so hard to erase the timeline of her and G-dragon relationship?… during 2021 when their relationship news was everywhere, her K-fans and even blinks could barely deny it and were mainly complaining of the invasion of privacy… But now they have totally pretended there was never such rumors. And why do they have an unhealthy obsession with V out of all her relationships?her relationship with Kai was confirmed but even they have forgotten the details of what happened. But they remember every detail with V with such scary fixation!? they have wiped clean everything that previously associated Jennie with GD even the hate she got… Like they remember the instagram follow but the don’t remember trending hashtags calling GD a stalker that even made it to the news for his Instagram activity with Jennie. Is there a reason they choose and pick which timeline to remember? submitted by /u/MarkNct1996 [link] [comments]
