K-pop stans switch favorites like changing outfits just in the past few years, groups like Red Velvet, STAYC, EVERGLOW, ITZY, TWICE LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, IVE, and XG have all had their moment in the spotlight, only to see global hype fade quickly. I’m not saying they don’t have domestic fanbases they absolutely do but among international/casual fans, the buzz dies down fast. And now with AESPA after Dirty Work, it feels like that might be happening to them too. The song didn’t really land with the wider audience and people seem to have already shifted attention to newer groups like KATSEYE and maybe AllDay project? submitted by /u/Awkward_Late_Topic [link] [comments]
So, Golden by HUNTR/X just became the first female K-pop song to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Huge milestone, right? But here's the thing: the real artists who actually recorded the vocals (Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami) are barely mentioned. The spotlight goes entirely to an animated group that didn’t write, perform or even exist. This isn’t just a weird crediting choice. It’s a warning. The industry is showing it values manufactured “faces” over real human talent. Virtual idols, AI voices, completely controlled images...they’re cheaper, easier to market and come without the messy realities of actual people: schedules, opinions, demands, mistakes. We can cheer now, but what happens when this model starts replacing opportunities for real artists? When the people whose voices, emotion and labor create the music are sidelined in favor of pixels and algorithms? This isn’t the future I want for K-pop or music in general. I’m not against Golden. The song slaps. But celebrating it without acknowledging the real artists feels… hollow. submitted by /u/Pixel_Nomad92 [link] [comments]

I feel like this whole beginning of 5th gen era is really TBL time to shine. They’ve had their hands in so many things. ILAND 2 and the songs coming from IZNA which are absolute bangers imo, MEOVV (their first group) who I could argue have the most potential… ALLDAY PROJECT, Somi as usual… they even had a hand in Blackpink’s Jump AND can’t forget they had a huge hand in the music and influence on the music of Kpop Demon Hunters. You can even see a MEOVV poster in the hallway at one point and they co-produced half the songs on the soundtrack including GOLDEN. All I can say is that I’m excited to see what they do next. submitted by /u/Tprotheone [link] [comments]

Almost every week, a new Kpop group debuts. Between 80 and 100 groups are launched each year, but only a few, often fewer than 5, manage to last for 7 years. Big 4 companies bring out new groups every year, while smaller agencies often find it hard to get their groups into the mainstream. The industry is saturated and highly competitive, making it difficult for smaller groups to succeed. Instead of always trying to create the next big group, companies should spend more time and resources on the ones they already have. Many groups are still in their early years, yet their agencies are already turning their attention to debuting another group. What do you think? submitted by /u/freezerkeeper [link] [comments]
One widely known example is IVE’s “After LIKE,” which interpolates Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” More recently, the strings in “Do The Dance” by ILLIT are sampled from “優雅なる脱走 (Elegant Escape)” from The Five Star Stories (1989). submitted by /u/why_dmn [link] [comments]
So enhypen is one of the best 5th group musically, they have a big fandom but they were never able to reach that level of having that HIT song. Which is surprising because their songs are good. Some are miss ngl (perfect mic, sweet venom) but still esp in beginning their songs were really good and even after that No Doubt their last song is so good . Why they don’t have that Korean hit song ??? submitted by /u/redubellbet [link] [comments]

Song: O by VERIVERY ‘O’ by VERIVERY is a song about when we all act fine on the surface, but deep inside crying for help. while the letter ‘O’ looks complete from outside, it's hollow from within from their YouTube video description: 7 boys who believe themselves to be complete. But they have yet to mature, imperfect in their emptiness and inner demons that they harbor. Can they ever find an answer to achieving perfection? submitted by /u/fried_chicken03 [link] [comments]
We've been making some small adjustments to the rules and infrastructure here in r/kpoppers recently. The primary things we're trying out starting today are the 'Games & Grids' flair for posts and also allowing Images and Gifs in comments. The 'Games & Grids' flair should be used for any thread games or grid fill-ins. We'll see over time if this name encompasses everything we intend it to. It has been requested by users and we think it's a good idea, so let's give it try! Images and Gifs are now allowed down in comments. We want to be careful with this one. Media like this should NEVER be used to mock, harass, or threaten any of your fellow users or artists. Use media appropriately in response to discussion topics, games, or in fun conversation with each other. If you see Images or Gifs being used crudely or inappropriately, please report the comment immediately so the moderators can take action. Rules were also updated a little in late June. Here are the main ones to note: Use Descriptive Titles - Titles should describe the content of the post. Do not use vague titles for Fan-made content. Funny posts may be more flexible and creative. No Artist Photo Spam - Artist photos should only be posted with relevant context. They should be funny or related to the post's topic. Photos alone will be removed. Keep Content Light and Fun - Discussion topics, Jokes, and Fan-made content should be positive in nature. We want to keep things light and fun in this subreddit. Heavy or negative content will be removed. We may end up adding more new rules related to the 'Games & Grids' flair and the appropriate use of Images/Gifs in comments later once we see the range of how they are used by everyone. We'll also note that we are aware of how often a trend will take off here, be adopted by dozens of posters, and quickly overwhelm the subreddit. This is somewhat inevitable for a community that has less restrictive rules and is more of a free-for-all of fun content. Each time this happens, users ask us to implement new rules and flairs. We are hesitant to do this each time because these trends typically run their course and fall out of popularity eventually. The times when we have responded more quickly to specific trends have resulted in the trend dying completely and immediately being replaced by a new one. We'd be on an endless chase to limit them if we tried this every time, which isn't necessarily healthy for the community either. But if you have any other suggestions for handling trends or for anything else that might help us improve the subreddit at all, feel free to chime in below! submitted by /u/alleybetwixt [link] [comments]
I can’t go “man I’m kind of disappointed that Tae collabed with Coca Cola” without someone going “you’re an anti fake hypocrite because why are you calling him out and not [insert idol/situation I never even heard of]” or actually “you’re stupid for feeling that way” Nobody cares about your ult bias enough to use boycotts as a secret way to destroy their fame… Same thing with racism. An idol you stan can do something racist, you’ll be upset yet still like them, but you’ll have some fool In your ear calling you a fake fan. They’ll say to them “you don’t have to apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong” when they DID do something wrong. They betrayed their POC fans by being racist. I had to stop being parasocial years ago because of that. Being treated like a pariah in your fandom for feeling hurt, and then like a traitor by others for not immediately unstanning. Maybe it’s a good thing but the pain comes back everytime I see this kind of behavior. Kpop fans are so hungry to drag each other like it’s still 2020 that you lack SOULS. I had to unstan every single group but one because I’m tired of every fandom being like this. Even then, when my ults does something I find questionable, I keep my mouth shut. Because despite how much I love them and don’t even think they had bad intentions, fans will eat you alive for sharing your opinions and think they’re real and you aren’t. Maybe I’m just built different but I’m wondering why kpop stans always default to arguments, shunning, and finger pointing rather than discussion? Are we allergic to talking and disagreeing or finding middle ground? Or just blocking people we don’t like at least? I noticed too that in the past I became much meaner online to fit in with other fans. I don’t do this anymore. But wow it’s just so weird that it always has to be owning the other in an argument. Fans always making arguments just make things harder than it should be. submitted by /u/sisteenshimmers [link] [comments]
