Hi everyone, My wife and I recently fell headfirst into K-pop, and we’ve been absolutely blown away by how warm, passionate, and inclusive this community is. During a really tough time in our lives, K-pop brought us joy, comfort, and something to look forward to and we’re so grateful for that. Wanting to give back in a small way, I started designing a K-pop planner (photos below!) something fun, practical, and made for fans, by a fan. I’m not talking about MVs that feature stunning landscapes you can’t find in Korea or ones that were shot abroad for a specific vibe or atmosphere. What I’m referring to are the MVs with deeper meanings or personal story-lines, where you see a bunch of Korean kids in Western-style neighborhoods, basically playing dress-up in a life they didn’t live. It just strips away the authenticity of the song. I think they are a fun and energetic girl group don’t get me wrong! but they really don’t have a clear direction currently between the song touch and gnarly….i really enjoyed touch it was a catchy adorable track while gnarly is just pure cringe TikTok bait in my opinion. Idk I don’t see them lasting for long I think girl groups in the west are fun but KATSEYE is really not k pop and it makes me uncomfortable when people call it that but maybe I’m wrong? I noticed in one of their music show performances last week that it appeared as though everyone was singing live, apart from Juhoon. His part sounded quite blatantly pre-recorded. I kind of brushed this performance off as Juhoon possibly having a sore throat or something. But then, today's live performance on KBS CoolFM came out and Juhoon literally just stands there and doesn't sing even once. Martin sings all the parts Juhoon supposedly sings when they perform on stage. They mentioned in their Weverse live that everyone was healthy, which is why I'm actually just really confused.
