I’ve read endless comments in the last week regarding Eunbi’s performance at Waterbomb: - “I feel bad for her because she’s only popular during Waterbomb” - “Her performance is catering to incels” - “She’s stooping low to gain popularity” - “She’s setting back feminism in Korea many decades” Yet a brief moment of Jennie exposing her breasts during the last Blackpink concert is getting multiple tweets with 100K+ likes each. How does this make any sense? These performances are not even one week apart, yet the general reception of both couldn’t be more opposite. Once again it’s demonstrated that in K-Pop it’s not about the what, but about the who. If you don’t want to read criticism towards Jennie then just scroll away. If you aren’t going to add anything useful to this conversation ,and just hate, then you should also scroll away. I genuinely can’t rap my head around why she continues to do this when it always gets a negative reaction. It’s so blatant as well, like the recent clip going around on Twitter, she isn’t even hidden behind the members and she just stops dancing and stands there. The problem is she keeps doing it but gives no explanation as to why she does it. Honestly though I don’t know what explanation she could give that could make this better. She’s tired? The tour has just started, and the other members are probably tired but they still get on with it because it’s their job. It’s medical reasons? I don’t expect her to go into depth about any of her medical situations, but fans don’t have the right to project illness on to her. She could give vague statement about her health condition and at least that would be a reason. But if it is health related why does she vape? She said before she has a hard time catching her breath, and vaping obviously isn’t going to help that. And yet she talks a lot about finding ways to take care of herself, yet none of it seems to be paying off. This is a reoccurring issue and that is the problem here. If she has 1 off occasions of maybe having to skip a step in the choreography it wouldn’t be a problem. But it is continuous and it has been going on for years now. Honestly it would be more respectable and reasonable to just put a chair on stage and let her sit through most performances. This scenarios hasn't happened to me but im curious. A lot of kpop stans stress the idea of leaving idols alone to let them enjoy their little free time they get, which i totally understand. And obviously, these idols dont want to be mobbed by groups of fans and get asked for pictures or autographs. But I was wondering what was the harm in taking the opportunity to approach and say a simple "Hello, Im a fan, thank you for your music" or something like that. Short and sweet, just to show your appreciation. Plus, im sure certain idols like meeting fans here and there. This is not rage bait! I know her fans will say Lisa used to always be popular and did so many things without the connection of her bf. Chill y’all she is obviously one of the most popular kpop idols but within kpop not Hollywood bro. Since she started her US debut and she is getting gigs that don’t even make sense. Celebrities in the US who are crazily talented and been in the industry for years don’t even get the privileges she got. Victoria Secret put her as a headliner when she didn’t even release a full album. Since when Victoria Secret invites people without albums to their shows? Also the songs should be crazily popular at least for u to be invited. Lisa’s music is only recognized by her own fans from kpop not Hollywood. Also her getting paid 7 millions for Coachella when she wasn’t the headliner while Lady Gaga, the legend got 8 millions dollars? Like title says, streaming culture is one of the main reasons why songs are getting shorter. To shorten them, chorus sections and bridges are removed. When they are removed, the song lacks build-up and structural development. This translates to the focus shifting entirely to catchiness and addictive hooks catered towards challenges. All of that leads to songs filled with repetitive lines and words that lack meaning. Of course, just looping the same song won't count on streaming platforms. But even when mixing songs in a playlist, shorter tracks still have an obvious advantage by logic.
